Glad to see that everyone has posted here in OOC discussion. Thanks to all for your patience as we get the game set up and underway.

As I've mentioned to some of you in PMs, when we get started you will all have been in Saltmarsh for a couple of days and likely will have at least seen or maybe briefly talked to each other in the various inns of the town. When we begin, you'll all happen to be in the same tavern at the same time.

We will be able to start whenever everybody is done with their character sheets. I'm really looking forward to GMing the game for you all.

Hello everyone. Just a reminder to let me know when your character sheet is complete. Feel free to PM me with any questions. I have set up private messages for individual character discussions. You should all have those now.

Also, I will be providing each of you with some info about who/what you know in Saltmarsh, based on your backstory, how recently you arrived, and your selected background. Some are pretty much new arrivals, but will have been in town a few days, while others may have older ties to the community but have just returned.

I'll be providing some general ideas in my messages, but let me know your thoughts as well after reading the messages.

Thanks!

Krusk's player has not logged in since Tuesday, so for now I will have him follow along as an NPC. If need be, I think a party of five PCs will be just fine.

We'll see how things turn out, but rest assured the game will continue apace!

Regarding combat, I include the initiative order in the post but you can obviously post in any order.

Preston, can't recall what other editions you have played previously, but one thing to keep in mind is that if you are adjacent to an enemy, Thaylan will be able to apply Sneak Attack damage to that target if he hits. (Note that it doesn't give him advantage (or a bonus on his attack as in previous editions) but it ups his potential damage significantly.

I should note that I'm not using the optional rules on flanking from the DMG. Rogues get Sneak Attack damage when  they attack with advantage or an ally is adjacent to the target. But having an ally adjacent doesn't give the rogue advantage, just the damage bonus. Regardless, it's generally very good to be adjacent to an enemy that your rogue buddy is attacking.

See my OOC in the game thread. Attacks on 3/4 weasels have advantage. Thaylan, you can roll sneak attack damage.

Also for everyone's use for this combat, the weasels have AC 13, so you can roll/post accordingly if you hit or miss.

Thank you for the kind words.

My wife's father passed suddenly while we were visiting him for the holidays. Since her mother and brother have already passed, my wife is now the executrix of her father's will. We had to break the news to everyone, take care of the service, see the lawyer, etc. It's been a busy time. We are finally back at home for a couple of days, so I am finally able to update you all on a computer with a keyboard. I'd like to be able to give you a firm date for my return, but I'm headed back to his house in a couple of days to take care of things there (no computer there - just a phone), and I have no clue how soon I'll be back at home again. If that's too long an absence, I'll understand, but I really want to rejoin the game as soon as things settle down. On the plus side, everyone here's doing okay.

So many reasons they get along! Well, Sylvy isn't the "nature loving" type of ranger as much as a specialist in a type of terrain and ranged combatant. Her terrain is oceans and shores after all. She's a smuggler.

Re: OOC Discussion

I think at the very least advertise for a few more players (2-3), and get them in on the fun. If a reboot is easier for you GM I am all for it,  but if you can find some players quick, maybe we can find them hostages, etc.

If a reboot...Sylvy and Preston,  you happy staying with your characters or will you change them up a bit?

Re: OOC Discussion

Here's what I propose as I think it could actually play out interestingly in game. Let the group split up and proceed. In the meantime, I will look for a couple more players. If I post in the general Players Wanted I'll get inundated (as I did last time). I am going to ask folks in a game I play in if they are interested and see how that goes. They are generally good players. If that doesn't work out, I may put up the ad.

I think I have some (hopefully) interesting ideas on how to play out the split and the introduction of new people.

Re: OOC Discussion

Greetings, everyone!

I'll be playing "Chief" Pieros. The portrait doesn't do him justice. He's a handsome devil. Figuratively, anyway. Not an actual devil. In D&D there's room for misunderstanding ;)

Anyway, see you all soon in-character.

Re: OOC Discussion

Hi everyone. So two players are using D&D Beyond for their character sheets, and I am a player on that site as well as RPOL, so I decided to make a campaign for this game over there. If you haven't used it, you can make character sheets for free, and it's very quick and easy to do so. No need to put a sheet over there if you don't want to, but if you do, here's the link:

Re: OOC Discussion

hey all. Sorry for my absence. Been on easter vacation and (unexpectantly) the campsite had no cell phone or internet access....a virtual technological black hole. I'm very tired so gonna get a good night sleep, then wake and catch up

Again....sorry for the absence

Re: OOC Discussion

Ok....the GM hasn't logged on since April 9th.  I've sent him Private messages and nothing.

I'm giving him until the end of the week and then I'm calling it. It's very unfortunate as it was going well and was having fun
