Rules for character creation are straightforward.

- Point Buy (27)
- Start at Level 1
- Please ask about non-standard (non-PHB) races and/or classes; I am open to discussion but tend to prefer the "classics." I am not going to allow aquatic races as it would give those particular characters too much of an advantage vs. others.
- Choose either starting equipment from PHB by class and background, or gold by class per PHB
- Setting: Greyhawk (ask if you have questions about deities and the like)

In the Ghosts of Saltmarsh book, there are some interesting options for tying the backgrounds in the PHB to the Saltmarsh setting, as well as some new backgrounds. In choosing your background, you can consider these other options. I can share additional details on equipment, features, personality traits, etc. if you are interested. Limited ties to the town are encouraged, although characters will not be locals who are familiar with too much about Saltmarsh. Of course, they can also be "fresh off the boat."
