Re: On the hunt

Bricklin nods, then takes stock of the others in the hallway. "Tonight we will be allies against the horde. Who among you wades first into battle? Who provides ranged support? Are there any healers or arcanists amongst you?"

As he questions the others, he grabs the chest from Kaj and sets it up at the top of the staircase.

"Good thinking. We will build a barricade, slow them so the ranged support can pin them down, and force them to break through so the warriors may take their limbs." He points to Coraxa and Booker as he grabs nearby large furniture. "Grab whatever large objects you can find."

While nothing vary big or heavy is found the team manages to put together a barricade of smaller bits and peices at the top of the stairs. They finish just as the foot steps start to accend. They get to the door way and start to try to push thru. One. Two. Three. The soor starts to crack open.

Re: On the hunt

In reply to Master of Tales (msg # 197):

"That...sounds like a lot of orcs. Oh boy..." Booker says. He swipes his sabre through the air, carving letters of light as the blade makes pass after pass.

"Bricklin, I challenge you...to a duel...of fashion!" Booker says the last part very quickly, thus insuring the non dangerous form of the arcane duel. Plus he rather suspected the halfing might enjoy an actual duel between them a bit too much. Mostly because Booker would lose.

Bricklin had seen this form of 'challenge' before. Because the arcane dueling style required some form of conflict, it could be quite literal. However, by Booker setting the terms he could create a ward around both of them with no bad effects.

The ward itself was a glowing orb around each one of them, connected by a corridor of light between ether protective bubble. The ward would keep out anyone trying to harm ether of them, and deflect projectiles away. However, they would be able to attack each other.

It was clear Booker thought many attacks where incoming. In Bricklin's ship, the sword mage used this technique to allow both of them to board enemy vessels without having to worry about stray projectiles getting a lucky shot.

"Stay behind us!" Booker called out to the others. Thus forcing the orcs to waste time and ammo on the two protected figures, rather than the rest of the group.

Re: On the hunt

Joy wasn't certain exactly what tactic Booker and Bricklin were attempting, but if the pair wanted to be living shields for the rest of them, Joy wasn't going to complain. Besides, the narrow corridor was going to be much too crowded if all of them tried to stand on the front lines at the same time. But perhaps Joy could make a bit more space. She wasn't very big to start with, but she could become even smaller without sacrificing any of her lethality.

"Okay, you guys do what you need to do. I'm going to work on losing some weight. Do NOT hurt the snake if you see one. That will be me." And with that, Joy called upon the spirits of her homeland. She became a sleek grey serpent (with grasses still sprouting from her back due to her druidic tell) that had a pitch black mouth. She was limbless, but could still slither faster than most humans could run, and her poison was among the deadliest of any non-magical creature. She was a black Mamba.

"Hissssss."

Joy is Shapeshifting into a Black Mamba snake.
19:00, Today: Joy Weaver rolled 7 using 2d6+1.  Shapeshifter - to Black Mamba.

Phirosalle does his best to staunchly ignore the upsetting noises coming from downstairs. He doesn't think he's got too many energy beam spells left in him before he'll need some quiet time with his spellbook to set up his magical assets again, anyway.

"Is the rest of the household still in the basement?" he says. "Like your parents, perhaps? And can you tell me anything else about the man with the crooked nose? You should never trust people with crooked noses, you know, they are invariably driven to Evil by their jealousy of people with straight, good-looking noses like mine!"

"I hope you know what you're doing," Kaj says to the two newcomers.  He knew nothing of magic, so he turned to something he did know.

The elf returned to the bedroom.  He pulled the sheets off the bed and tied them together.  He  tied one end to a bedpost and threw the other end out of a window.  It wasn't the best escape plan, but it was a plan.

Bricklin glanced at Booker, and hefted the greatsword in both hands. His grip tightened with an audible groaning of leather on steel.

“Honey,” he said in a chuckling grumble. “Even in a battle of fashion, you don’t stand a chance.” Then with a saucy wink and a laugh he swished his hips and sent his battle skirt swaying. He readied himself for the onrush of… whatever it was pounding at the door.

Re: On the hunt

At first the goblins are a bit surprised, as they are not vary smart, thinking that they had already rounded up all the inhabitants of the house "I thought we'd already got you all downstairs" he starts to jab a pointes short sward at the nearest person. "get down to the underground. he said. The goblin next to him say lets have some fun with these ones"

And they all rush forward blade, axes, and hamers flailing about wildly.

So. I imagine we have Bricklin and Booker. Then Coraxa and Bailor. Then Seraphene and Kaj. Standing in a 2x2 staggered line. With Joys black momba slithering somewhere between Bricklin and Coraxa. Or even in front of Bricklin and Booker

6 goblin scramble to attack Booker and Bricklin. Well they try at least. They all look puzzled as they poke and slash at the two men.

They miss the small slithering snake at their feet.

The other four squeez past. Heading for Coraxa and Bailor, Kaj, And Seraphene.

The makeshift bedsheet rope dangles out the window.

Joy's serpentine body darted between the feet of her allies like a slither of dark lightning toward the biggest cluster of goblins. And she wasn't even going full speed! Since the goblins didn't seem to be paying her much mind, Joy took the opportunity to lash out at the goblin that was directing the others and sank her fangs into their foot. She then recoiled and struck a menacing pose at the other goblins. Her pitch black gums flashed in warning to try and frighten the more weak-minded of their foes. "Hhhhhhhhh!"

I am attempting to use my two Hold on the moves listed below as quickly as feasible. After using her second Hold, Joy will automatically return to her halfling form. Likely amidst the pack of six goblins. Or what is left of them at that time. ;-)
