On the hunt

You make your way out of the mages tower. you stand on the street. In the rain, there are few people out. what way do you go?

"I suppose the obvious place to start is to follow the stone construct's footprints back to where it came from," suggested Joy. Even if the tracks ultimately led to where their map indicated anyway, it still might provide them some clues. "Alternatively, I could try turning into a painted dog from my homeland to try tracking by smell." She looked mostly to Kaj, the most outdoorsy-looking member of their group other than herself, to see what he thought. But of course everyone's opinions were welcome.

Upon leaving the Mages' Tower, Kaj spots dozens of people swarming over the are around the stone golem.  He grimaces.  The trail there is all but wiped out.  He instead proceeds to the street just outside.  Though some markings have been stomped out by crowds gathering despite orders to stay inside, Kaj is able to find long scrapes of stone on stone, wide enough to be the feet of the golem.

"This way," he says to his partners.

10:48, Today: K'ajoranguarssuak rolled 8 using 2d6+1.  Hunt and Track.

"Well, go right ahead, by all means," Phirosalle says, fussing with his hood to try to get cover from the rain without obscuring his best features (which is of course all of them). "I'm afraid I didn't prepare any spell that is much use in this situation. One does not wake up in the morning and expect to be tracking an unsightly stone beast before dinner, after all..."

"The rain is a blessing and a curse.  But, does little to hinder us in our task," Bailor just allowed the rain to come with making no attempts to block any of it.  The part that remains the least wet is his back with the rain falling against the shield. He nods to the tracker and starts to follow in the direction the indicated.

Seraphene curtsied to the mages and followed Coraxa out. She drew her cloak close around her. It was silk lined blue wool with an intricate embroidered pattern along the edges. "I have every confidence in our tracker's ability." she said.

using arcane art to give Kaj the effect "The next time someone successfully assists the target with aid, they get +2 instead of +1"

19:05, Today: Seraphene rolled 9 using 2d6+2.  arcane art.

On a 7-9, your spell still works, but you draw unwanted attention or your magic reverberates to other targets affecting them as well, GM’s choice.

Sorry. I'm new to the rules. I'm not quite sure how the benefit works, but I figure try it out now.  Does Kaj get a +2 now or the next time someone helps him? Either way it's a plus.

It's only a partial success so there's some kind of side effect.

Even in the rain, it is easy to follow the stone-on-stone scratches of the constructs' footsteps. You follow the track 5 blocks down the road from the tower, into an alley. there it ends.

Seraphene does help Kaj and the next one to help him track. what performance do you use?

As Seraphene performs her piece a bar fight breaks out in the building next to you. 5 angry drunk dwarfs chasing 4 Half-orcs. The orcs run down the same alley, right in your way. the angry dwarfs follow.

the alley is now suddenly crowded, you six, the four half-orcs, the five dwarfs and they are swinging.

we are all learning, so no worries

I guess we can presume next time since Kaj already rolled a success.

Also, in case I forget again, I also get a +2 from my lynx's cunning.  Can I add that into my last roll retroactively?  If so, that puts me at 10 , which means I can "Gain a useful bit of information about your quarry, the GM will tell you what."

In reply to K'ajoranguarssuak (msg # 10):

Ok sure. Just befor the bar fight breaks out. Kaj will notice that mud here in the alley looks dug up a bit. The wall has a few stones missing. It is likly that the stone construct was made here in the alley.  You look at the map and are on track with the path on the map.

Pulling his shield out along with the warhammer in case things came down to getting involved that way Bailor quickly looked over the dwarves involved.  He knew it wasn't common for most to come this far South so hoped he could spot something they could possibly use to diffuse the situation.

Help! A ton of unattractive people are having a drunken brawl within swinging distance of Phirosalle's all-too-breakable face!

He does the first thing he can think of and speaks an incantation, trying to make one of the dwarfs - them being the numerically superior side - see him as a friend who should absolutely not be punched. That still leaves eight punch-happy nitwits to worry about, but one thing at the time.

Casting Charm Person on the nearest dwarf.

Bailor like you many dwarfs have come to Milnors ford for the adventure. Same with the ircs. There is a treatie betwen the drafs and orcs in the Skeldian Mountains. You speak with athority of your uncle.

One dwarf is now enamered with Phirosalle. "Brother!" he exclaims. "  to arms aginst these cretins. " he shoves a short blade in to Phirosalle hand and taks up a defensive stance befor him.

Getting in between some of them Bailor stands with his shield and warhammer lowered, "fellow dwarves and allied orcs, surely this is not how we wish to represent ourselves among the other races.  Especially with our alliance with one another.  I am certain we can sort this out with violence.  If you wish to continue though I shall have to bring my warhammer to bear against those that insist on doing so in the name of my uncle, the great king under the mountain, and he shall hear of the transgressions from both sides."

On the hunt

Joy had heard of bar room brawls, but had never been in a bar and so had never had the chance to experience one. So she was excited to see that she might get the chance, albeit unexpectedly. The little halfling stood among the dwarves and orcs looking ready to join in. "We probably shouldn't do this, true. But if we're gonna do this, come at me! Show me what you've got!"

She had nothing against orcs, but it seemed Phirosalle was good buddies with one of the dwarves and of course Bailor was a dwarf himself. So Joy kicked things off by leaping into the air to deliver a roundhouse kick to one of the orc's faces. "No killing. Just BRAWL!" Her short little leg only dealt a glancing blow, but at least it connected.

Since the parley roll failed, I went ahead and escalated the situation. Hope nobody minds.

Hack and Slash roll:
13:32, Today: Joy Weaver rolled 10 using 2d6+2.  Hack and Slash - kick orc face!
Success!

Damage:
13:33, Today: Joy Weaver rolled 1 using 1d6.  Damage.

At first Coraxa was not excited for another fight, she was still sore. Then Joy jumps out and stomps one of the orcs in the face. Oh well bar fights were fun.

It had only been a few night scence she had to defend some one in a brawl. That damn merchants son, Bane Davis. Had her working hard on that last trip. She itched to pull out Tane again. however a bar brawl was not the place however quick she could end things with him in her hands.

Hoping from foot to foot. She makes a fist and pounds in to tue othe palm. Cracks her neck. She taks a defensive stance. Ready for one to attack.

Phirosalle finds himself armed and staring down a line of half-orcs, which is not at all where he had hoped to find himself.

"Ahhhh! Not in the face, not in the face!" he wails and swings the dagger wildly around him, hoping to keep any attackers from getting too close.

Hmm, I guess I Defy Danger with Strength? Not really my best bet mechanically, but it seems like what Phirosalle would do. :P

12:16, Today: Phirosalle rolled 5 using 2d6.  Defy Danger (Strength).

At the mere mention of dwarves, Kaj raises his spear, reday to skewer the first dwarf he sees.  But he doesn't see any.  Just one group of odd-looking orcs and another of short humans with very impressive beards.  Normally, he'd attack the orcs without hesitation, but dwarves?  Orcs couldn't hold a candle to the sheer wickedness and black malevolence of dwarves.

"Where are the dwarves?" he exclaims, too alarmed to even speak Common.  "Where are they?!"
