Re: Kegmatics Sheatics

I planned to sneak in the WAKE of the explosion, not while it was rolling down. I'd hoped I had conveyed that accurately....

In reply to Moonface (msg # 386):

Unless there's a highly combustable alcohol , in the barrel; it's more like the barrel skills flaming contents about the area it rolls across and lands than explode.

IC ooc's aren't comments made by the character.

It maybe wise to throw something into room.
It may not hit but make the guys in there defensive and help us when we move in

After the fire . . .

Frost wasn't sure how much longer this illusion would last.

The Silent Image spell has a duration of Concentration -- so it lasts as long as she keeps it going. She can move around, but anything that requires a Standard Action (attacks, etc.) will break the image (fade away that round). She cannot cast any kind of spell and maintain it but she can make Attacks of Opportunity.

What you can't tell is how many of the guards down there still believe the illusion. A barrel of flaming brandy has burst through the image and flashed hot flames through the space beyond while your illusion has basically done the shimmy shake in the middle of it.

Nor can I allow a surprise round when you come down the steps. You've made noises, created an illusion of you coming down the steps, and rolled a barrel down ahead of you. They know you are there and are on guard for you. No stealthy stuff possible now.

You did draw their fire with the illusion, but the two rounds of flames has given them time to reload -- unless you want to dash through the last round of flames (risk 1d3 splash damage if you fail Reflex check) -- then I'll allow it's a surprise attack.

After the fire . . .

In reply to Clotho (msg # 395):

DM, that makes sense enough to me, but sense you're telling us this after many of us posted actions, are we allowed to retcon both our actions and formation?

The idea was that the barrel would catch them off guard in the first place, and I'm sure none of us would have wanted or expected the barrel to 'explode' literally at the bottom of the steps. However, none of us made that specification where we wanted the barrel to explode and when, so that's on us, and fair enough.

Because of the fact that the barrel is right where we enter the room, it completely changed the plan that (some of us?) laid out to charge into the room, because again, no one anticipated that the barrel would blow right where we enter the room to charge into the flames. It's only now that we see this that our plans are completely different, and why Moonface wouldn't have traded positions with Doc, and possibly why an armor and shield paladin like Orville won't help Stitch take point. Again though, no one specified where the barrel would actually land, and it is certainly an oversight.

Even with that, we still haven't rolled initiative, so we still don't know what we're all allowed to do. Are you telling us to take a full-round action? Are you allowing us to take a single move action before we roll for initiative?

As always, someone let me know if I'm overthinking this, or if anyone is as confused as I am.

After the fire . . .

Pretty much my reaction. But I also have a question. Would an Acrobatics check allow me to leap past the flames (starting from the lowest step) and not take fire damage? This would allow me to 'get in their faces' and attack. It also means they cannot use ranged weapons without drawing AoOs.

I have no problem with that. We're still getting everyone in place, so until we start actually fighting, feel free to adjust.

I thought I did see Initiative rolls, though last week. But I have no problem if you wish to roll again.

The barrel did not explode so much as crack open and dump out a puddle of brandy that caught fire and burned for two rounds.

Is there another small keg back up in the room even if it is empty?

Oh an back to Doc walking around with money on him.
Would you really want steal money off Doc.  You know it not going to go well if you do and you regret it in a way only Doc can make you!!

One that would allow moonface to gloat over the poor fool.

I mostly just need to be aware of:

1- Exactly when the illusion fails, I presume this round it will

2- The lighting conditions in the room

3- Who I have Line of Sight to

Sorry guys

Best to pull the band-aid off quickly. The game is not what I had hoped, for which I blame my own ineptitude. I ran this as a multi-session tabletop game a few years back and it was great, but the time lags and my own other distractions are creating a story that does not gel.

Thanks to all of you for your energy, and I'm sorry to bail on you, but I think I'm going to call this one quits.

I will close it down on Monday.

While I too started to dim on playing I am very glad to have been given the framework to make blackfinger and see everyone else's characters with the interactions that followed. I hope everyone finds more games to enjoy(especially you clotho, it's never easy to run a game)!

I am sad this game has come to an end.
I know how hard it is to run a game as I have done so myself on this site a few time.

Thank for letting me play Doc, and thanks Moonface, it has been great fun.

Its been real, Doc. I appreciated the "good" chemistry :)

I'd say I'd see you all in the future, but honestly, a lot of my games have been dying over the last year. I figure after 10something years, once all these games phase put, I'll be dipping out myself from the site.

You all stay awesome and stay creative :)
