ooc Init 18+2 (20)

OOC: Init roll 8! My man Moonface is slow on that uptake XD

My idea was that Moonface (and presumbably many other of our members) would hold until post barrel explosion, to see if any of these guys, hopefully distracted by the illusion, would get caught in the blowback.

OOC YOU and me both.

Stitch will try to quietly follow after the barrel, hoping whatever distractions made by the illusion and barrel mask his movements. Once he spots a target, he will move in and engage.


Correction: Stitch is +10 attack with his blade.

Blackfinger moves with Stitch, and takes the time to use his magic to stifle the sounds of his armor.

Blackfinger gives Stitch the ability to ignore ACP on stealth rolls.

18:36, Today: Frost rolled 11 using 1d20+2.  Initiative.

Round 1

Frost tugs at the piece of fleece she keeps in her pouch for just this spell, and conjures up a Silent Image of several Black Company fighters descending the steps. The others help the illusion by making appropriate noises -- tramping feet, whispers, and tinking of weapons, all to lend the eerily quiet image a sense of verisimilitude. The imaginary fighters descend the stairs and there is a sudden call.

"Here they come!" Followed by the thwacking sound of heavy crossbows being discharged and the smacking of the deadly bolts on the stone walls.

"Get 'em!" someone calls below. There is a stir of motion coming near the bottom of the stairs.

OOC: So far the plan is working. Who will roll the barrel down the steps? Who will cast a burning torch after it?

Moonface will throw to light the barrel (again, unless someone has a way that's more guaranteed/less of a waste of equipment.)

The Mighty Stitch launches the barrel down the stairs. He waits for the alchohol to be ignited before he follows to engage.

OOC: DC 10 Throw rolls for Stitch and Moonface, please. Stitch can add his STR bonus, Moonface can add his DEX bonus. There are burning torches in sconces along the walls in the wine cellar -- 6 in all. The barrel holds brandy -- very flammable but not explosive. And a great waste of very fine booze.

Blackfinger holds back, waiting at the back for the keg to blow.

Moonface waits for the barrel to roll, then throws the torch.

Rolled 22 for throw.

Tyrell waits for the barrel, then the torch, then advances after the frontguard, looking to take a group of 3 or more in a spell from his furtively newly gained knowledge of sorcery

Doc moves down when other move using full defense.

For the moment Frost concentrated on her magical trickery.

Just to make it clear lol

The barrel bounces down the steps leaking a steady stream of brandy at each drop. Moonface hurls a flaming torch after it and WUMPH! the barrel goes up in a gout of flames, sending a rush of hot air up the steps. Cries of surprise and pain from below indicate that at least some of the splash effect has claimed its victims. The flammable liquid burns brightly and hot with a flickering blue flame. After two rounds of burning, however, the flame snuffs out.

OOC: Tell me where you advance to and I'll tell you what you can see.

Once the flames die out enough, Stitch moves to D-6 and Studies thug#3 as well as take in the tactical situation.

Blackfinger moves to G-8 while maintaining as low a profile his magic would allow. The smokey air and smell of burning flesh made him want to gag.

Frost wasn't sure how much longer this illusion would last.  With the way clear, she stopped shy of the flames to get some idea of her options.  She could probably manipulate this battle quite a bit if she didn't eat a sword.

Move to G4 after Stitch moves to G8, taking his spot!  Hopefully I can see a lot of the room from here so I can do shenanigans.  Though my first action might just be lobbing the light arrow into the room.

Moonface was caught off guard by the smoke and smell of burnt skin. It was rightly foul, and he tried to bumble quietly past the dying flames into the room. Despite his hacking, he tried to keep his bow level, peering through the whiskey smog for a suitable target as he slid up alongside Stitch. Whatever witty comment he had waiting in his lips died in a fit of hacking.

MOVE ACTION: Rolled a beautiful 9 on Stealth, slipping into D-5.
STANDARD ACTION: I know what happened last time when I rolled initiative early, so if it's not a surprise round, I'll Hold my Standard Action to fire away on the closest target to move toward us (within 30ft).
