Not really, unless you like shortbow arrows and crappy scimitars.

We're going to pretend Ila has lead the matriarch up to the surface and move forward with the main quest.  I was serious about the Sunday thing.

I figured there'd be nothing on the goblin front.

And of course! Rules are rules, after all.

Uh, boss? Ila didn't pick up the piece of wall. She is trying to resolve the goblin issue.

Re: Out of Character Thread
I have proceeded under the assumption that there are no doors or exits from this second room. I looked for any reference to them in the DM's earlier posts but couldn't see anything. Perhaps I've missed something obvious, so please let me know if so.

Sorry, it's a very straight-forward dungeon.  The door to the next room is directly across from you.

Aha! I think I've found the way onward! I propose that we walk through this swinging wooden section of the wall - zany, I know, but hear me out - and into the cavity that lies beyond it.

Chalk up another win for elven engineering ingenuity!

Re: Out of Character Thread
Edited my post and added a Perception roll, which was just as feeble as my Investigation. Huzzah.

In reply to Aien Lurieth (msg # 142):

i was intending on using a help action on whoever did investigation (i noted in the OOC part of my post), so if the DM permits you could probs get advantage on that roll at least!

Re: Out of Character Thread
Sounds like a plan to me! I keep forgetting that it's an extra advantage roll rather than a straight plus to original roll in this edition.

Seems pretty clear cut, but I'll wait for the DM's say-so before making a second roll.

So quick question, because I'm a bit confused amidst all the goblin drama. We still only have the two chambers in here, right? And are there any visible exits from the second chamber?

Re: Out of Character Thread
Probably, but we haven't checked yet.

The closest we've come to exploring the second chamber is Seth glowering at the goblins as lookout just in case there's any shenannigans the GM wants me to roll perception to see. :P

Seth'll calm down once the rest of the party is finished up behind him and we move forward. He just doesn't want to risk everyone putting their backs to the goblin civilians at the same time because his sense of pride gives him a massive stick up the ass about that sort of thing. :P

So, who all is still here?  It's been a very slow week of posting, and I'm not sure how much of that is my fault and how is typical RPOL attrition.

Re: Out of Character Thread
Yes, I had a couple of queries, the first being, as Beata has mentioned, whether my improved Perception roll of 20 (which I added in to my previous post) turned up anything.

The second is the nature of the door. How is the lock attached to the door? Is it actually in the knight's hands, or hanging from them? And in what way does the "door" appear to open, if the lock is in the centre? Any evidence of hinges etc?

There's not too much else in this room other than the memorial stones, and shallow trench full of kindling that would improve the lighting conditions from dim to bright were it set alight.  The piece of the mosaic that comes off was the most interesting thing in here.

The door and lock are of the magical "gates of Moria" anti-thief variety.  You can't see hinges, and other than the frame, it's hard to tell there's a door at all.  You speak the riddle's answer, the door opens.  Said lock is the main reason the goblins haven't ventured further in.

Here's a hint for the riddle: I gave you my ____?

Oh, it's that sort of riddle. Ha! I thought we had to manipulate the lock somehow.

Right, I'll have a think about that.
