Hey folks.  Let's chat about chargen and backstory.  I think collaboratively generating characters is helpful for the story.

From a chargen standpoint, you're welcome to use any official races/careers.  Everyone will have Duty regardless of whether the career is from Edge or Age or Force.  After generating your character as the book dictates, spend an additional 75 XP.

As for a primer for backstories, remember, this game start immediately after the end of Revenge of the Sith.  You should all sympathize with the rebellion so let's not have any Imperial sleepers or sell-outs or anything like that.

So, to start the discussion, what careers is everyone considering?

Warrior with Steel Hand Adept. Unarmed is very underrepresented with the only glimpses of it here and there, Rogue One being a prime example having a little bit in there.

I am thinking about Sharpshooter or Pilot.  Are we going to be bound to one planet or bouncing around?
There are no restrictions about being Force Sensitive or a Jedi?

My personal preference about Jedi/Force Sensitive is to limit it to Force Sensitive from Age and Edge.  Full Jedi can get... a might overpowered once they get some exp under them.  And they tend to drag "Jedi nonsense" into the game.  ;)

I'm leaning into Agitator, Race unknown right now.

That was fast! :)  Let's see if I can resolve our first dispute.  Give me a little bit.  Waiting on a couple PMs.

It's not a disagreement, it's a preference.  If you have people who want to play Jedi, that's fine.

My 'issue' with Jedi is they tend to be good at more than just 'their niche' ("Overpowered" was inarticulate, I meant they tend to niche stomp on other people).  By the way Jedi Professions, lightsaber Styles, and Force Powers work, they tend to diversify a lot more broadly than other Professions (non-Combat role, combat role, and whatever extra 'cheesy' goodness the Force brings).

Also, the "Jedi Nonsense".  Because there is a Jedi, the GM has a tendency to want to throw 'jedi' flavored challenges into the mix...

It was a stated preference.  If the group as a whole prefers to have Jedi running about I'm fine with it.  Ironically, despite my first stated quibble, FFG is one of the better systems for having a mixed party of Jedi and non-Jedi.

I did ask ahead of time to play a Jedi in hiding type of character.  I'm totally ok with having less Jedi-flavored stuff thrown at us in general as I'm intending to delve more into skills and hiding who the character actually is as much as possible.  The intention is to go with a multiple-specialization type of build to facilitate that.
