Game Overview

Welcome everyone!

for quite a while now I had the keen interest in running a game where visiting the various planes and exploring the many fascinating locales there was the main focus. At the same time I have had several players in other games expressing their interest in playing an evil character for a change, which I sadly always had to deny due to the nature of the specific game. Furthermore, I know that there is always a lack of enough high-level D&D games out there to satisfy player curiosity and interest. Here now I want to try and combine these three things into one game and hope that it will turn out as I hope.

The basic premise is, as you might have seen already in the Game Info section, nothing more than a half-baked idea of having some reason for many different characters to come together to achieve a common goal and travel across the known planes. It's not that easy to have a reasonable and plausible plot hook while at the same time allow PCs from several settings and all possible alignments in a single game. But hopefully, with your help at not questioning this too critically and let your characters see the 'greater good', we can accomplish the goal of a fun and exciting game despite this.

So, here is how I envision this game to go:
All players and their respective characters are going to have to work together to accomplish their goal; in the end even evil characters should have some reason why they don't want to see their world fall to this plot (see above). This means that the players collectively as a group decide who wants/should play with whom and then split up in smaller parties to tackle several objectives at once. You will receive a list of planes from me (which will include almost all of them) and each party picks one of them for the start of the game.

On each plane there are a couple of locations to be visited/infiltrated/assaulted, which I will also present in turn after the plane selection has been made. Alongside this, I will also reveal the individual being who is going to be your target for each location. The end goal of each 'mission' will be to either capture, kill, or interrogate the target to find out the location of the ritual. The Cabal of Souls and its hidden mastermind are careful enough, unfortunately for the characters, to only have given each of their members one tidbit of information, so that not one single individual can foil their plan. This will, of course, also be just another flimsy reason for why you will have to tackle many places and creatures across the planes.

Once the first location has been successfully completed, the group in question can either tackle a second place on the same plane, move on to a different one, or even head back to headquarters and switch up their members with another party if one is close to be done with their mission as well. This cycle will go one until too many players (or myself) become bored with this style, or (god forbid) you actually manage to deal with all locations (see you in several years then).

I want to stress at this point that, while I allow evil characters and look forward to their unique impact on the game, I don't want to see in-party fighting or anything even resembling pvp. Make sure when you create your character that they are not too antagonistic and are willing to work together with others to achieve the 'greater evil'(?). Furthermore, there will be no chance for your evil character to just go solo instead if you can't or won't play well with others. There will be more than enough players in this group already I imagine, so I have to keep them grouped up in some way to not get overwhelmed from the very start.

One last thing: Be aware that I have my own list of monster challenge ratings that will not reflect the official sources and in general come up with new creations or updates to existing creatures all the time. In general, you can expect to always fight level-appropriate enemies (unless there is a good reason for presenting you with much less or much more of a challenge), despite what you might know of a monster.

If all of this weirdness didn't turn you away and you are fine with everything else mentioned in the other Notice threads, please send me your submission!
