After an initial flurry of attacks the firebeetle struck at Ermangard but wildly missed the warrior woman.
OOC Characters must now declare actions for casting spells, retreating and if you're switching what's in your hands.

After the beetle's pincers snapped shut just short of his fledgling woman-at-arms, Barnabas nearly panicked. What if it didn't miss next time?
He rushes his next throw and the dagger clatters off the tunnel wall. It falls to the ground below, illuminated by the phosphorescent glow of the beetle and the steady beams of lantern light.

OOC Roll for Initiative! You have a 1 to beat.
If you win Initiative which you likely will roll your attacks and post your actions. Siward will replace Nerida in the fighting positions, so attacks roll will be needed from Teodore and Siward, also Ben still has one more dagger so I expect he will attack too.

Re: The Canyon
The beetle stubbornly fought on, its hard shell imperviously to the many thrown daggers and the sword of Teodore. The nervous and somewhat skittish Nerida backed off to allow Siward to come forward. The cleric of St. Ras gave the beetle a whack but his warhammer was deflected by the beetle's hardened carapace.
It seemed like the battle might become long and protracted but then Ermangard raised her spear and drove it downward into the creature's thorax. The beetle squirmed and thrashed as Ermangard held it down and screamed a guttural warcry of triumph as it died. The creature's glowing glands continued to glow and fill the chamber with reddish light.

Re: The Canyon
The creature defeated Anfinn dared to join in the exploration of the small chamber. He found nought but the half devoured kid goat and the speared firebeetle. Three glowing nodules, two above the eyes and one on the abdomen continued to cast a light in a ten foot radius.
With the lanterns in the western chamber the entrance chamber was left in darkness. Alone except for his mule Urkov peered around the dark chamber. On the western wall the dwarf spotted writing, writing that had appeared only when the chamber was in darkness. The writing was visible by the faint heat it produced.
The dwarf read the following scrawled message:
R. -
As agreed, the jewels await you two levels down in the chamber past the acolytes' cells. How you deal with the wasps is your own concern!
