Re: The Canyon

Fiene steps away from the door, backing towards the stairs.  He doesn't draw a weapon, but keeps Ermangard nearby to defend him.

Bertilak mentally prepares himself to cast his spell if necessary. He motions for Arietta to move up to the door with the others, and he follows right behind her.

Re: The Canyon

The goblins sat around the fire and chewed on the spoilt venison. The goblins remained subdued whilst Fiene sat with them. When Fiene stepped away they continued to eat and were not bothered by the arrival of the other adventurers.

Ben stood by the door as the others moved closer to the foul smelling goblins. Anfinn backed away as the fighters positioned themselves ready for battle. The coterie of wizards took their positions at the rear.

OOC The party has gained surprise over the goblins. Everyone gets an action. Ben can close the door but it will split the party. It's difficult to see in the map but the door is between Bertilak and Fiene. Fiene and Valerian are both outside the room in the corridor. As you have the surprise action you can move positions before we get into combat and initiative.

Did Fiene eat any of the meat?

'Goblin' is wearing the copper nose ring, the other goblins 1-4 have no distinctions marks.

Day: 1. Time: 2:20pm. Turn: 32. Weather: Clear. Vision: Daylight. Movement: 20'

Lantern oil used Ben and Fiene: 26 Turn.

Ben throws a dagger at one of the closer goblins. It's not a bad throw, all things considered.

Re: The Canyon

As they had been ordered to the three woman-at-arms surrounded the goblins and struck at them. Sword, spear and hammer were cut, thrust and swung. Arietta as surly in battle as she was in all her pursuits deftly stabbed a goblin wounding it. Ermangard's spear was on target but failed to pierce the goblins hide armour. Inexperience showed with Nerida's wild swinging of her hammer which missed it's target entirely.

OOC Bertilak, Anfinn and Teodore all still up to act.

Teodore attacks the goblin with the nose ring, but it's an iffy swing at best.

13:43, Today: Teodore rolled 12 using 1d20+1.  Attack Goblin.

Bertilak finds himself a bit closer to the goblins than he would prefer, but I decides it is not the time to use his magic. He pulls his silver dagger from its scabbard and prepares to defend himself.

OOC: I don't think there's an official "defend yourself" rule in BX, but if there is, I'll use it! :D

OOC Ok that's the surprise round over (Anfinn you can catch and take your actions whenever you next post) so we now need declaration - please declare what's in your hands, if you are going to disengage and if you are planning to casting any spells this round.

OOC Ok we'll take that as everyone ready. Roll for Initiative. 3 or higher and you can act. 2 then reroll. A 1 then the goblins get to go first.

Re: The Canyon

The cornered goblins were assaulted again. This time both Teodore and Arietta cutting down their foes. The remaining three goblins gave no heed as the odds were set against them but fought on. Their spears jabbed harmlessly against Teodore, Nerida and Ermangard but alas a goblin spear made its way through Arietta's coat of mail and the contrary warrior collapsed to the floor.

OOC Okay will try things a little differently. No declaration. Let's go straight to Initiative and see how it effects the game. Goblins rolled a 2. So same as before you win Initiative you can post your actions.

Re: The Canyon

Both of Teodore's and Ben's attacks failed to hit their targets. The remaining hirelings Ermengard and Nerida fought well killing two more goblins. The last goblin rather than be cowed by this went into frenzy, gnashing it's teeth and striking at Ermengard but missing.

OOC It's Initiative again. The last goblin rolled a 1.

Bertilak lets out a moan at seeing Arietta fall to the ground, bleeding. He hopes she's alright, but until the goblins are dead, he's staying away.
