Return to Stonehell Dungeon

Bertilak divides the spoils into eight shares. Everyone gets 187gp, 1ep (or 5 more sp), 21sp, and 11cp. There are 4cp left over which the magic-user suggests be donated to the poor.

"That is nice, but now that I have money, I am not poor anymore, so you can give them to someone else," Leah informed Berty.

Now wealthy, she went to replace used equipment and buy a few more items.

Then to see if Lorna changed her mind about selling the inn, when she sees all the money.

Then to a carpenter, to start her pastry hut.

'Leah's Very Tasty Pastry That Tastes Very Good' seems to be a very good name for it, in her opinion.

She will also sell potential delvers maps of Stonehell, and run a support group for victims of Dungeon Madness.

Return to Stonehell Dungeon

By the time the loot was shared it was afternoon in Fourtower Bridge. Arriving weary Fiene returned to town.

Some of the adventurers successfully retired after one delve into Stonehell Dungeon, it was enough to satisfy their curiosity or desire for gold. Brandli, Leah and Lilith with sacks full of gold made their farewells.

Those remaining would plan their return either as fools or heroes.

OOC Day 5 afternoon.

Return to Stonehell Dungeon

Devin would like to visit Dame Rakel to see if she had any healing potions for sale.  He, of course, also buys a tinder box from Millie's as well.

Return to Stonehell Dungeon

Devin found himself at the southwest tower. There Dagunn Rakel, a tall woman in her sixties, welcomed the cleric. Unfortunately she explained that her alchemical talents did not offer healing potions. Upon spying Devin's holy symbol she directed him to the southeast tower to have counsel with Majken, she warned that the nun was a strict and demanding lady but that she might be better suited to offer aid in healing.

Return to Stonehell Dungeon

Bertilak greets Arietta warmly (the emotion is not reciprocated), and then takes her to be fitted for a harness of plate-and-mail, a shield, and a normal sword, at his expense. "Those goblins and orcs will have a harder time piercing this armor."

He also restocks on oil, and picks up a tinder box and lantern.

OOC: 99gp for equipment, plus 19gp for Arietta's wages taken off my sheet.

Plate Mail 60gp
Shield 10gp
Sword 10gp
3 flasks of oil 6gp
lantern 10gp
tinder box 3gp

Edit: accidentally posted this in the OOC thread.

Truly Arietta was as contrary as ever and although she accepted Bertilak's gifts she gave little signs of gratitude. However the armour fitted her well, the town's blacksmith Roark doing a decent job. Roark was chatty with Bertilak. Two children ran around the smithy as the smith worked.

At the southeast tower Devin was greeted by a stern faced woman of middle years. The roof of the tower held a bronze bell. The woman introduced herself as Mother Majken and demanded the meaning of Devin's coming.

OOC Yes Bertilak can make all of those purchases.

"Um," Devin replied to the demanding woman, "My name is Devin Harper, an Acolyte of Auril.  I was hoping you might have some healing poultices or serums for sale that I might take into the dungeon with us."

There was a some softening of Majken's features at sight of Devin's holy symbol but she remained severe in her demeanour.

"Welcome Acolyte Harper. As you are a man of faith let me give you counsel. Walk with me" she commanded and then she drew a cloak over her habit she led Devin away from the tower. She went south passed the old fisherman's shack and to the old tower ruin.

Devin followed the woman obediently without question.  This certainly wasn't the direction he thought they'd be heading.  Perhaps she was embarrassed by the state of her tower and they were heading to her place of worship somewhere else.

When Devin followed he was led to the old tower ruin. It was almost completely overgrown and very old. Some of the remaining stone were carved with inscriptions in some language unknown to Devin.

"I will rebuilt this" Majken declared earnestly "this was once a temple long ago. Do you feel it?" she asked the acolyte.

"For the temple new relics must be found. Do I have your pledge to aid in this undertaking?"

"Are there relics in Stonehell?" Devin asked, seeing this as possibly an obvious solution.  Before commiting, however, he looked around for any sight that this had been a temple to Auril.  Or that Lady Majken followed the light.

"Stonehell was built to house the wicked and the sinners. It was built by the lawmakers and the righteous, some token of them will surely have remained there to be found" Majken looked at the ruins around them "just as it has here" perhaps it was the nun calling forth the powers or it may have been Devin's own senses but he felt the power of Law here.

"If we find any, I will bring them to you," Devin agreed.  It would be a good thing to rebuild this temple and fill it with holy relics lost to the darkness.

"Then I have something which may aid you" the nun replied plainly and returned to her tower. She led Devin into the tower and to a small chapel to Sidhe, father of the gods, within. In the chapel she took from the altar a scroll "take this, have faith" she offered and then her eyes fixed pointedly at the nearby offering box as she scrutinised Devin's actions.

Devin dug into his sack and pulled out two handfuls of gold coins and dumped them in the box.  He wasn't sure what the scroll was, but the gold would go to rebuilding the temple, so he was satisfied either way.

If Mother Majken could look meaner she definitely did. The cleric crossed her arms over her chest and stared hard at the Devin "Acolyte Harper you come here seeking miracles yet offer pennies" she chastised him "look at what you have" she commanded him "its value is priceless and much coin will be required to restore the old ruin" the scroll when inspected was a finely written prayer of healing and restoration, one infused with divine energies.

OOC The scroll is written in common and is identified by Devin as a magic scroll of Cure Light Wounds.

Devin really didn't know what such a scroll was worth as he'd never seen one before.  He wasn't even sure he could use it.

"How much of a donation would be appropriate?" he asked.

Unmoving Majken eyed Devin "you offer a handful of coin when the miracle you carry is worth a life. Pay one hundred gold" she replied "then leave me, I shall pray for your soul" she ended their conversation and knelt at the altar in devotion and prayer.

Actually, he'd put two handfuls of gold into the box.

However, if the scroll really was what she'd described, it was worth well more than a hundred gold in his eyes.  Dutifully, he pulled out another handful and counted how many there were.  Given he'd already put in two handfuls, he figured he needed four more handfulls to fulfill his destiny.

Leaving the nun to her prayers, Devin let himself out and returned to the others.

He was eager to tell the others he'd been able to procure a scroll that allowed him to raise the dead!

OOC: 65 more gold into the coffer.

Placated Majken was knelt with bowed her head when Devin left. The precious holy scroll in his possession.

When the cleric returned to the Moorland Magpie Inn to tell his companions he found the folk in the inn were preparing for a feast. Lorna had purchased three large crates of pork sausages from a nearby farm. Tonight would be sausages and cider, as many sausages as you could eat for four silvers.

OOC Add a scroll of Cure Light Wounds

Once arrangements are made for Arietta to serve as his bodyguard, and his supplies are restocked, Bertilak seeks out Fiene.

"I'm glad to see that you made it out alive. We had quite the adventure ourselves, I'm sure you must have as well. I made a map of our explorations as best I could. I was wondering if you did as well, and would like to compare our explorations?"

"I did not venture far from the stairs, as getting lost would likely have lead to my doom."  Fiene shares a map of the northeast portion of the part of Stonehell he explored, with Bertilak "I did encounter orcs, so I believe there must be a second way around the one way door you described." he says, "for what it's worth.  It is nice to know there is a second way out.  I suspect Stonehell is much larger than we know.  There is even a marketplace, run by someone called Sniv. I suppose it make sense that there is some semblance of community down there."

Return to Stonehell Dungeon

The town blacksmith made regular trade with the adventurers and chatted with Fiene as Ermengard was fitted for platemail armour. Ermengard loud and emotional played with the two children whilst Fiene listed his requirements and paid the blacksmith for weapons and armour.

During the day Fiene was kept busy meeting with prospective hirelings. However the three applicants Aldyth de Beauvais; an adolescent girl who arrived dressed in her undergarments, Aldwin de Pardieu; a middle-aged man, and Samara Carlson, a middle aged drunken dwarf maiden were all sent away by Fiene.

Millie's store was able to provide the basic provision and Fiene had an encounter with the strict and demanding Mother Majken who provided him with a vial of holy water in exchange for a worthy donation to her funds for rebuilding the old tower.

When Fiene asked about a safe place to store his gold Lorna suggested he visit Athalgrim at the northwest tower.
