In search of Da Dragon - Stadhafi

West from the crossroads Stadhafi noticed that the worked stone corridor ended as she entered a natural cave. The walls, floor and ceiling were uneven flowstone. The large empty cave exits north and south. To the north she heard the chittering of bats, to the south she heard a whistling.

StaĆ°hafi considered the two directions.

Bats could be an alert system- flapping about if disturbed to wake a sleeping dragon. But they could also be a food source. If so, they would be unlikely to remain in a cave with a dragon if they were being preyed upon.
Whistling could be air through tunnels and caves. But it could also be a sleeping dragon's nostril.

It seemed that south presented a slightly larger chance of finding the dragon, so south is where she went.

The tunnel to the sound led Stadhafi to a cave with a stone well in the middle. The whistling sound came from the well. The ceiling was wet and dripping.

There was two exits to the west.

She looked about and scowled. No sleeping dragon.

She peered into the well to see if any fools had tossed coins into the water for luck. If so, she would scoop them up if they were not difficult to retrieve.

After that she considered. Two exits here, and one back towards the bats. Here seemed likelier for leading to the dragon- there was water, and again, she doubted the bats would stay right next to a dragon feasting on them. So, she took the topmost exit west- thy had initially gone north to see the sign, so north seemed better as an option.

I am fairly certain you meant west, like on the picture, not east, or were there more turns than suspected? Thank you!

In search of Da Dragon - Stadhafi

The bottom of the well was unseen by Stadhafi, her lantern only lighting up the descending shaft until it was lost into darkness.

The tunnel northwest led into a cave. The cave was roughly circular about thirty foot wide with a pool of water in the north west.

Nearby to the pool was a dwarf. The dwarf had a long braided beard and a balding head of red hair. The dwarf worn a suit of chain mail and held a satchel. The dwarf knelt and peered into the water until Stadhafi entered when he looked up.

OOC Yes I meant west.

Neither party is surprised.

StaĆ°hafi dropped a rock down the well, listening to hear if it hit water, and to judge how deep it might be. If it did not make a splash, indicating the well was dry, it might be profitable to come back here later and try to descend. But that would be another time- for now she was dragon hunting, so she moved on.

--

She had her weapon at the ready when she saw the dwarf since she was alone on a hunt, and she kept it ready upon seeing the dwarf. However, she did not hold it aggressively towards him- just prepared in case he chose to be violent. She briefly scanned the cave to see if there were any indications of a dragon- discarded scales, reptilian smell, claw marks scouring the stone, etc. It would be annoying if dwarves had already dispatched it and taken it's hoard away.

Approaching the dwarf, she called out,"Ho, dwarf, I am seeking the dragon. Does one exist in these caves, or was the warning sign a miserable lie?"

The stone dropped but there no was splash rather thud of hitting something soft.

The dwarf had an axe but it was on his belt rather than in his hands "I've seen nay dragon" the dwarf replied. The cave had the smell of an animal's lair but no sign of animal or dragon "have ye seen any dwarves? I seemed to have lost my companions in this tunnels" he asked.
