Greetings friends and future team mates. So far I have put together a Gotal Hunter-Seeker with no force powers.

2 4 3 3 2 1 for main stats, which is ALL of his starting XP :-)

Skills
Perception 1
Pilot - Space 1
Ranged - Heavy 2
Stealth  1

Equipment are basics like some rations, canteen, basic armor, a few stims for healing, and a Blaster Rifle with a few Attachments and Modifications to make it nifty, and a basic toolkit. It would be awesome if somebody else picked up a weapon maintencance kit, but not necessary.

He can be your Scout/Space-Pilot/Sniper.

No it is a F&D Career. He is a survivor of order 66 and his basic story line suggests us having a ship as a group resource, of which he is the pilot. I would have liked to have traded it in or altered it for something less conspicuous than a Republic registered ship.

If I work things out, he is going to be a heavy hitter with a Blaster Rifle when it comes to personal combat and a decent pilot. He doesn't have any 'skill' at Mechanics, but at least he is relatively intelligent enough to have a good go at most things. Cunning enough to be a scout, etc.

No lightsaber, FYI.

I am actually thinking of just making the guy a Bounty Hunter Assassin....but lose the story line I have already developed and the challenge of keeping a post-66 Jedi alive ;-)

The Assassin has some seriously nice Talents, but seems rather one dimensional.

Lokh is a professional liar. Everyone knows he isn't being honest but he can still outmaneuver people into believing the things he wants them to believe.

That being said he is not charming so his form of persuasion mostly involves the barrel of a gun pressed against some place sensitive.

I kinda wish that Perception was based on Willpower instead of Cunning. I understand the difference with Vigilance why it is WP for that, just wishful thinking.

I hope to get the 'character' posted up tonight, but no garuntees, I was up way way late last night and feeling like conking out right now.

That is a very generous range, IMO.


YKL-37R Nova Courier looks VERY nice.

I only really have access to the F&D book and this website for options:

The KTS-100 is not listed on that site so I can't take a look. Compare it to the Nova Courier and see which is better. I especially like the cannons can be fired in any direction and there are concussion missiles that can fire fore and aft, no handling penalty, speed 3 and up to 8 total people on board (2+6).

OK, I got a look at the KST-100 and would still rather have the Nova Courier for the following Reasons:

Faster Hyperdrive
Better Armor (This more than offsets the slightly more Trauma of the KTS-100)
More Passenger Space
Less Rare and thus parts mods will be more likely.
1 more Hard Point
Higher Damage main weapon
-Secondary Weapon - Missiles

The KST-100 can still not outrun a Tie Fighter with it's better speed. The 2 extra strain is not a lot. If it was the KTS-100 or the YT, I would take the KTS-100.

Just my opinion on it. Not heard specifics from anybody else yet.

Alright here are my thoughts on KST-100 vs. YKL-37R Nova

Both have the same speed and size and armor (both are armor 3, size 3, speed 4)
KST is +1 handling, Nova is neutral.
KST has +1 hull and +2 SS
Nova has +30 cargo and +2 passengers
Nova has 2 medium laser cannon turrets and 2 concussion missile launchers

That being said from personal experience I know just how baller concussion missile launchers can be. While the +1 Handling on the KST is AMAZING...like seriously you use pilot checks for everything so a free bump is godly however the extra cargo and passenger space plus the missile launcher seals the deal for me to vote for the YKL-37R Nova.

Let me propose a name for the ship: Aquila Rift after one of the more memorable bits of short fiction/episodes of Love, Death, and Robots.

Seriously though every episode would make a great spaceship name:
Sonnie's Edge
The Witness
The Dump
Good Hunting
Lucky 13
Zima Blue
Blindspot


Okay not every episode. I doubt "When the Yoghurt Took Over" will make anyone's top vote :P

I guess I am just looking at the wrong ship for the KTS-100 then. It only had 2 armor and had 3/4 vs the Nova's 3 armor and 4/3 size/speed.

Course, I am only looking at online stuff, vs in the books, since I have no idea where either ship is in the books. I have very little experience outside of F&D.

One thing to consider is that if you have a focused plot in mind then obligation doesn't really matter. It's designed for grander campaigns where the GM might need help coming up with a "mission of the week".

Personally from the games I've run obligation is nice for faster paced tabletop/face-to-face games but the slow methodical nature of play-by-post makes it unnecessary, imo.

Sounds like a good amount given we don't have any opposition and he picks up the expenses like fuel, docking fees and whatnot. Double if we have to deal with the Empire or spaceborn pirates. Ground combat is covered by the 1500 given we don't have to assault some guarded fortress to get the item?

Some of that depends on if Marook has Matilda his blaster rifle. If he does, then there are certain options, like stunning, whomever it is. If not, then he will be playing a back-up roll I think.

Ok so this is a chase scene.

Here is the process:

1. Initiative

2. Action (catching up to your query)
    - coordination
    - athletics

3. Maneuver (making it easier to catch up to your query)
    - coerce/leadership to make the crowd move.
    - whatever may help you catch up.

You begin at Medium Range from the spy and you're coordination/athletics rolls will be opposed by the spy (2D). Each successful roll closes a range band. Once you are within engaged range, you can attempt to grapple the spy or otherwise stop his escape.

As an aside, is the difficulty the base 2D of most things or is it based on the character's attributes or survival ability? Just kinda wondering if Marook would have a better chance of running from capture or fighting, as it were.

Beginning at medium range, you can roll athletics or coordination against 2D in order to close the distance between yourself and your query by one range band.

The chase is over once you reach engaged range or until he reaches extreme range.

That is why I am asking the others if the risks are acceptable or if we keep chasing. Marook has no appreciable melee ability, but he is a pretty good shot. Now that the 'crowd has thinned' due to the targets own blaster fire, it might be acceptable. Our characters have worked together so they should know a thing or two about the group consensus on such things.

As a player I do not know if the Accuracy bonuses that the rifle has would effect a stun blast. I assume so, but I want to make sure.

 Ryer noticed the party he is working with by their descriptions, and recognizes they are being questioned by the Stormtrooper squad. So he is going to act like he is trying to look through some cargo containers, but is sneaking around to get to a flanking position in case there is a fight.

Well, despite his attempts as stealth, he perhaps tried a little too hard and was unable to conceal his movements. He moved a little too swiftly around the boxes, making it appear if he was hiding from troopers.

  Can I use his 3 advantages to make the Stormtrooper squad think  Ryer is just afraid of the Empire like many people on this station which are involved in illicit activites, and they don't have time to worry about a single, unimposing Arkanian, or other thieves, vagrants and the like.

And or clarification sake,

The Storm Troopers are standing on one side of the ship's ramp while the security squad is standing on the other. The adminstrator is standing out front a little, near the front of the ramp.

The group is in process of boarding the ship with Armond trailing the end of the procession but noone has quite reached the ramp yet and are at short range from both the security squad and the trooper squad as well as the administrator. Had the initial deception been successful, it would make sense that you all were able to board the ship unimpeded but since it did not, we'll have to see if this next one will fly...

We'll also assume that the whispers amongst yourselves were unheard as you move to attempt to board the ship...

I would try to give an unskilled assist, but I wasn't at the scene of the attack so I'm not sure I can help with any deception. If I was there I would claim the unconscious one caused all the damage,  and the crew only stunned him which caused no damage to anything. I believe that was true so may be a Charm check, if that is the case.

The problem was that the unconscious guy got claimed as a 'friend'. Otherwise we could have just pawned him off to the authorities and tried to claim a reward for apprehending the guy for assault or some such. I think there are really only two paths, one is to suggest that our 'employer' hand over the credits since this is his shindig or fight out way out. I am not overly sure about the outcome of a dust up at this point.

Given that Matilda hits, it is going to do 14, more with successes. I am not sure if that is 2 or 3 storm troopers (given they are in groups of 4) that would go down. I highly doubt we will get out of this unhurt, but we will be fugitives in this sector from then on out.

Marook has 3A in deception, but we have already had that possibility swept out from underneath us. I figure we are down to two options: Fighting or convincing our 'employer' to pay the fine as part of the cost of doing business. I am totally find with telling our employer to pay up. I am also totally fine with fighting (although I am not happy with the consequences).

Saturday morning I am going to move forward with telling our employer to pay the fine so we can leave, should nobody else figure something out. It is just that Marook is not the 'Face' type character nor the 'Mastermind' type character. He is the Pilot/Sniper/Scout.

I think the plan is to set course for our destination and then start questioning the prisoner. Just as an FYI once interrogations are done Lokh will probably be proposing to space the poor sodder so if anyone doesn't want to be ruthless start thinking up a reason to keep him alive sooner than later :)

Okay, so first question.. Are we anywhere near Hutt Space or is the destination of our paid mission near there? Outer Rim is close to Hutt space in certain areas, but it's also a huge space. 2nd, is anyone in charge? I would guess Marook, is at least the owner so probably calls the shots for the ship, at least. But on planet's who decides what, or does everyone just go with the flow..

FYI Mr. GM this isn't a threat. Lokh absolutely is going to dump him out the airlock. He doesn't play these "I won't tell you anything unless you promise X". Lokh's response would be "Okay, no deal." and then hit the button.

This is also a heads up for the rest of you so you can step in and stop him if you have a desire to keep the spy alive.
