The Coast Way (IC)

THE LORD OF MURDER SHALL PERISH, BUT
in his doom he shall spawn a score of mortal progeny.
Chaos will be sown from their passage...

                                    —Ancient prophecy

  One year ago, the Sword Coast was nearly plunged into a war. A mercantile organization known as the Iron Throne manipulated the great nations of Baldur’s Gate and Amn toward war, eager for the profits that would come from such a conflict. The plans of the Iron Throne were exposed and undone by a group of intrepid adventurers and wizards known as the Harpers.

  Although war was averted, the Iron Throne was merely a front which disguised much greater threats. The leaders of the Iron Throne had unwisely involved themselves with many dangerous entities. They hired unscrupulous wizards to study magical secrets that were better forgotten. They made pacts with power-hungry men who wished to become gods. They hired shapeshifting assassins who could infiltrate the throne rooms of great kingdoms. Although
the Iron Throne has been shattered, the evil that they unleashed still lurks within the city of Baldur’s Gate.

 You know all about this because one of your friends' reach out to you with a rumor that a man named Khalid, has sent out an urgent missive looking for characters of trustworthy nature. Same friend let it be known that he is a Harper agent and that you must be on your way to the Coast Way called the Friendly Arm Inn. As soon as it is possible.

The Coast Way (IC)

The Friendly Arms Inn is ran out of an old stone keep at the center of a small hamlet along the Coast Way. It is a stopping point for many caravans coming from Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter, nations of Amn, Calimshan, Tethyr.

The hamlet itself located on the hill, with keep almost hovering above it. You can see the keep as you clear the forest. The air smells of hot food and sweet mead, your weary feet are aching for a decent bed.

As you make your way towards the hamlet, then towards the inn, then up the large set of stairs (one may wonder how any drunkards broke their necks climbing down these stairs after a night of fun). Heavy wood doors open into a cozy tap room bathed in warm lantern light. The inn is packed with patrons dressed in varying attire both familiar and exotic. Scattered among them stand a handful of well-armored soldiers who all wear a distinctive insignia of a clenched fist wreathed in fire. As you cross the inn’s threshold, one such soldier approaches you, holding out a gauntleted arm. He says, “You won’t be needing weapons here. Leave them with me, and I’ll return them upon your departure.”

Sundos smiled and nodded to the soldier. "Sure thing. How is the duty here?" Sundos handed over his spear, then his crossbow. He 'forgot' to hand over his hand axe until the soldier asks for it. "My name is Sundos. Don't forget who gave you those weapons."

He reflected that not too long ago in another hamlet much like this town, Sundos was the soldier asking others to turn in their weapons. It was much easier to ask people for their weapons before they started drinking. It's been interesting since he left the service. But now he is getting the travel he didn't experience much in the army.

He walked to the bar and ordered some ale and and food. He found the only empty table and sat down with his mug to wait for the food. He was starving. Without thinking he lightly caressed his amulet of Lathander. Sundos has been on the road all day and was tired and hungry. He smiled as he watched all of the strangers from distance lands and enjoyed the different accents he heard.

Simon shrugs, "I don't have any weapons, just a hunting bow. And I certainly didn't come to a tavern to HUNT dinner." Simon blinks when the soldier seems unconvinced by simple logic and sighs, handling over his bow. "At least you've protected the squirrels and rabbits that patronize the establishment."

Simon heads for the bar and orders a chunk of bread, a chunk cheese and a chunk of whatever domestic fauna is on the spit, then finds a place to sit, pulls out his dagger and proceeds to eat.

The rosey cheeked gnome behind the bar waves at one of the soldiers at points at Simon. The soldier approaches the warlock, "Sir, when we requested for you to hand all of the weapons, we really meant all of them. Master Bentley, requesting for you to hand over your...cuttrely, the innkeeper will provide our own for you. I appreciate your cooperation".. He looks back and nodes at what looks like 5 additional soldiers dressed in uniform of Flaming Fist. "I also was notified that whoever you are looking for is at the table by the fireplace"., the soldier motions at a man sitting by the fire dressed in a ornate half-plate armor, with a shield strapped to his back. The man's skin looks tanned, he is picking nervously at his bread, while picking up a tankard of cider from time to time. He looks around the inn, meeting your gaze he nods.
===========================================================================================
@Sundos

"Don't worry sir, this inn and hamlet is well protected by the Flaming Fist. Me and twenty of my friends will take a good care of your items".

You make your way to the table and eat. As you are taken in by people and the inn, the sounds of commotion bring you back to reality. There is no fighting, just some soldier attempting to reinforce the rules of the inn. The same soldier turns around and approaches you. "I believe this man over there has been asking for you", he points at the
man by the fireplace, same man which was pointed out to Simon.

Einar let out a weary sigh as he entered the inn and saw the many people inside. He briefly considered simply turning about and leaving, preferring another night in the open to this mire of... people. But he had agreed to meet whoever this khalid was, and his ma hadn't raised him to break agreements. More importantly, Einar was hungry, his stomach growling something fierce at the smell of cooked food. He licked his lips and tusks at the thought, before noticing a soldier saying something about weapons?
It took him a a moment before he understood. He was still more used to thinking of his axes as tools than weapons. He did hand over his large, reinforced woodsman's axe with an affirmative grunt. and his smaller pair of axes, and his hunting javelins.
With the soldier seemingly satisfied and gesturing towards a table already occupied by a few people, Einar's brow furrowed for a moment, before he took a deep resigned sigh and trudged over, rolling his shoulders to loosen up as he mentally prepared for his worst enemy. Conversation.
"Seat taken?" he rumbled at the humans at the table, in what despite being little more than a mutter from him was easily audible to those at the table.

As Ruby entered the bar she was wearing a pleasant smile as she took a deep breathe, and thought to herself, "I love seeing interesting places, interesting people and stealing from them." Her smile disappears as soon as the whiff hits her nose.

As the soldier asks for her weapons she continues looking around handing him her weapons. As she hands her rapier to the soldier she says in a serious tone "Hey I only have one of those unless you have a trade up back there? Just kidding" as she walks past the soldier she mumbles to herself "unless I can get in there."

As Ruby walks further into the inn she looks around at the people, food and liveliness of the inn as she sits at a table. She holds her hand up attempting to get a hold of a maid to get a drink for a lightweight as she is not a heavy drinker.

Moonsong avoided the main roads, choosing instead a journey through the woodlands covering the Sword Coast. The Druid enjoyed the earthy smells of the forest, from the heady sharpness of the sharp pines to the softer aromas of the wildflowers. The soil underfoot reassured Moonsong. She preferred the pastoral comforts of the Wild to the constraints and stench of the City.

Left to her own will, Moonsong would never would have left her grove  further up the Coast. It was true that she would not have left but for the desperation she sensed in the message. A trustworthy member of the Circle that conveyed the message from the Harpers vouched for the authenticity of he who wrote it. They also claimed that the contact that Moonsong would meet could very well have tenure of worth with a reputable Druid adventurer. Moonsong could not refuse a plea for help from the Circle.

Therefore, she traveled for a week and a day through the wooded Coast until she rescued the city. Senses honed by years of living in the wilderness of Faerun helped Moonsong avoid the demihuman marauders and fearsome beasts that roamed the untamed parts. Still, Moonsong felt a little trepidation about the perils she would face in so-called “civilization”. Dangers more abundant lurked within the walls, streets, and sewers of cities.

Moonsong closed her eyes and took a deep breath. She centered herself and silently prayed for the serenity of Selune to grace her. When Moonsong opened her eyes, she ascended the long steps toward The Friendly Arms Inn. Whatever else she thought of cities, she couldn’t deny the pleasing smell of baking bread that wafted on the breeze. She couldn’t deny that, despite her ambivalence, that she would enjoy resting her weary feet.

Perhaps she might even enjoy the company of people again.

When the Iron Fists demanded her weapons, Moonsong nodded with a half-smile, “Of course. This is a place for laying down arms.” When she saw the petite raven-haired beauty stop the barmaid, she promptly added her own order. “If you could...may I have the quail and bread? And a drink, of course. My thanks, Goodwoman.”

If her words sounded stifled, it was because she felt a little out of practice in lengthy conversation. Especially in crowded places like the Inn. Moonsong followed the guard’s instructions to the table, where she would meet the other travelers and Khalid. “That is quite gracious of you,” she said, remembering the genteel manners her mother had attempted to impart so long ago in what surely felt like another life altogether. The softer aspect of Khalid’s face and the slight pointing of his eyes marked him as Elvenkind.

That actually made Moonsong feel a little more at ease, given her past dealings with the Woodland Elves.

Einar visibly bringthened at Khalid's mention of buying them food, and immediately flagged down the serving girl and ordering the pork and turnip. He needed something filling.

He did look slightly uncomfortable when even more people joined the table. There were to be five of them?
Einar silently admonished himself. He'd have to get used to people if he was gonna live outside a forest for a long period. If nothing else the latest woman to join the table had the feel of another nature dweller. and the others didn't seem unpleasant, at least. He could do this. He could probably hold a nice conversation with them, too. Eventually. When he felt like it. Or they talked to him. Any time he wanted to, in fact.
Yes, he could do it any time he wanted. Just not yet.

With a grimace, the half-elf nods a greeting to you. His furrowed brow is slick with sweat, and his sun-tanned skin has blanched to a sickly pallor. “Th-thank you for joining me! M-my name is Khalid,” he stutters. “I wish to hire a group of f-formidable adventurers to aid in the rescue of my wife. She was carried off by gibberlings after our c-camp was overrun less than a tenday ago. It seemed like their horde was traveling towards the Cloakwood—not far from here.”

He takes a long pause to collect himself, taking a deep breath and wiping away the sweat.
"Gibberlings are a t-type of vicious, feral humanoid. Nobody knows where they come from, but the creatures have plagued the Sword Coast for the last 10 years or so. They hibernate like bears over the winter, only to return the next year, stronger in the summer’s heat.”

At that moment the food ordered by the group arrives, two maidens put the dishes piled with food on the table and refresh any of the drinks.

“Gibberlings usually eat their victims, but for some reason, they’ve kept my Jaheira alive. Our wedding bands share a magical bond, you see. This will be a dangerous t-task—but I have gold! Will you help me?”

Ruby looks to the maid and says quietly, "bring me something small, please." as she pinches her fingers together. As she tries to avoid staring at the half orc's muscle, "I find the best way to keep a friend is by being a friend." she says with an intimated voice as she pushes over her beer to him.

As there host begins speaking Ruby listens to his story, but looks to the others of the group. As she looks at Moonsong she saw peaceful and tranquility, and someone that knows the forest like she knows the streets. Sundos his holy symbol around his neck gave him away, but a man of the temple was always a blessing. Simon to her was a mystery she couldn't determine was he like her or as unique as her compatriots. None the less they all looked friendly enough, but she needed to double down on being friendly to the half orc.

Sundos answered quickly, "I cannot speak for the others, but I will help you. I'm sorry for your troubles."

Sundos looked around at the others around the table. They were all unique and different from each other. He guessed he would have the most in common with the male hunter. He couldn't help noticing the woman in the leather armor. She looked dangerous in more than one way. Sundos has fought along side and against half orcs before. He hoped the warrior would join their team. He has never seen hair like the Druid's before. She was beautiful but somehow didn't look of this world.

He smiled and nodded. They could do this. Turning back to Khalid, Sundos said, "We will rescue her."

Einar's brows rose in surprise when the leatherclad woman suddenly started talking to him, and pushing a drink towards him. What's more, she acted... pleasantly? That was definitely not something he was used to from women, much less pretty ones.
He eyed the beer and the petite woman in turn, trying to figure out if she was up to something. But she seemed genuine, far as he could tell. So with some confusion he grasped the beer. ".... Thank you." He rumbled with a grateful nod, not sure what else to say, before taking a swig and looking back at Khalid as he explained the task at hand.

"Dun think I've heard o Gibberlings before, but sounds like goblins. Like dangerous pests." He said after some thought. He then sat up straight, making uo his mind."Hate pests. I'll help."

You know that that gibberlings a bad news. They know that they travel in packs, actually more like hordes. If there are 10, that means there can be 100 of them just right around the corner. They are night creatures, sleeping during the day in their burrows.

@Moonsong

You are gibberling scholar. You know all the information mentioned above. You also know that the summers is when they are most active, this seasons particularly been brutal for the Sword Coast. There are infestations of them popping both North and South of Friendly Arms Inn. Multiple caravans were destroyed by these creatures with no survivors or anything else except for bleached bones and cart.

Gibberlings require huge amounts of food, they cannot sustain themselves. As such they travel from place to place devouring anything on their way to the bone. There researchers out there attempting to find where these creatures came from, as there are rumors that they are not of this plane.

Gibberlings as mentioned above tend to eat their pray, there are cases when they abduct them. Few of those who were able to escape were found to have been impregnanted by the gibberling larva. Hatching period for larva is approximately 30 days, with month host is killed and young gibberlings come out.

Moonsong paled, but not from illness like Khalid. She realized her profound luck in her travels to the Inn. “Truly, Selûne’s favor shined upon me, that I could avoid mobs of Gibberlings on my journey here!” She slowly shook her head and whispered a quick prayer of thanks to the beloved Goddess of The Moon.

“Know that the Gibberlings are Chaos given form in fur, claw, and ravenous tooth. They are appetite unrestrained and destruction unleashed. They devour everything  in their path, including their own dead. That your wife still lives is miracle enough, given their wanton gluttony.” Moonsong gently clasped Khalid’s hands. “I fear for her continued safety, though, for if they have not devoured her...then they may intend to...forgive me, but to breed with her.

We must not allow that dire fate to come to pass, as she would not survive giving birth to their monstrous brood.”
Moonsong’s blue eyes flashed like winter steel. “Gibberlings are not part of the natural order. They defile Nature with their rapacious gorging on animals and men alike. I am sworn to protect Nature, therefore I am further obligated to aid you.”

In that moment, though, she released the half-elf’s hands, “However, Khalid, you are suffering from an infection. We must treat that before you can even travel, much less fight.”

~Only monsters who care about gold are people,~ was something that Sergeant Edward said a lot. Sundos has learned that was was mostly true. Not that worrying about gold made you a monster...He reflected on how light his coin purse has become in the past week or so.

In reply to Ruby's question, "I was in the military, the army. However, in small villages we garrisoned, the line between law enforcement and military was often blurred. The villages often had an old retired soldier as their sheriff. We would help support them when they needed it." He shrugged. "It was a lot less exciting than the old men of my village made it sound like."

With meals paid for Khalid motions for the group to follow him. The group arrives at the ambush site around 6:00 in the morning, with sky been beautifully blue, slight fog coming across the ground and grass wet with morning dew.

What remains of the camp is however does not look that peaceful. The stench of rot and buzzing of flies assaults your senses long before the ruined campsite comes into view. Corpses
of humanoids and hairy, grotesque creatures litter the ground. Few of the bodies remain in one piece, and most are half eaten. Torn tents and broken gear are scattered amongst the dead and trampled into the earth. “I s-swear the Cloakwood wasn’t nearly so close t-to our
camp before,”
Khalid notes, pointing to the dense forest which looms nearby. It’s easy to see how these woods earned their name: so little light can pierce the thick canopy
that the entire forest floor remains enveloped in shadow.

He slowly walks through the remains of the camp, picking up small pieces of gear, backpacks. "T-t-this is where it happened...", Khalid says quietly, involuntary tugging at the wedding band.

his scimitar. The gibberling falls down on the ground in a pool of blood.

OOC: G2 is done.

============================================================================================

Einar swings his massive axe at the other gibberling coming from the groups left. The axe
clips the creature nearly gutting it. However by some miracle the beast is still standing...
barely. The blood pooling quickly out of it's massive wound on it's chest.

OOC: G3.

============================================================================================

Ruby Rose steps behind the barbarian, she aims and shoots her bow at the gibberling behind the one attacking Einar. The bolt lodges itself in the head of the creature. The gibberling twitches, gurgles and falls to the ground.

OOC: G13 is done.

============================================================================================

G1 runs towards Khalid, it scratches at his armor and bites at anything fleshy. Khalid yelps
in pain, rearing backwards.

OOC: G1 does 4 points of damage to Mr. K.

G8 smelling blood darts towards the nearest target - Sundos. It is wielding a rusty dagger, thrusting it at the cleric...the dagger finds only air. It groans in frustration.

G5 seeing uselessness of it's tribesman runs up to Sundos and slashes at him with it's claws. The claws slash across cleric's face drawing blood.

OOC: Sundos takes 5 points of damage. Ouch!

The rest of the gibberlings chattering and snarling dash towards the group.

============================================================================================

Simon casts a spell on himself, the thick fog surrounds his body, then shortly settles around his feet on the grass as a light frost.

============================================================================================

Moonsong's spell echoes through the forest and raises a cloud of dust. It knocks two of the closest gibberlings off of their feet. The one already damaged by barbarian is split in half
by the spell, while the one which attacked Sundos is thrown up and into the ground, it's crumpled body is bloody and broken.

OOC: G5 and G3 are gone.

============================================================================================

Sundos thrusts his spear at the remaining gibberling next to him. The spear effortlessly passes through the flesh of the creature. The gibberling grunts at the pain, the meat and bone hanging out of the jagged wound.

OOC: G8 is almost done.
============================================================================================

You can hear more of chattering and howling coming from beneath the ground and beyond the forest...

OOC: Round two! If I missed something or misinterpreted your actions, please let me know. Otherwise, roll for attacks/skills again while stating your actions. The rest of the horde is within melee range of anyone now.

Einar rages as a bonus action, and attacks a gibberling. He also makes a lot of noise to get the gibberlings to focus on him, although that's strictly RP, and not via any check unless the DM deems it to be.
While raging he has resistance against slashing, piercing and blunt damage, halving it unless it counts as a magical attack. He also deals +2 damage, and has advantage on strength checks.

They’d opened the floodgates, and could not hold back the waters. They could only let the waters run their course, Moonsong observed as the violence escalated. Only death would stop the Gibberlings. She heard Einar’s roar, a guttural yell she’d heard from the Orcish tribes in her own island homeland. Ruby deftly shot another Gibberling with uncanny accuracy.

When Simon unleashed his eldritch bolt, Moonsong followed suit with a less dramatic cantrip of her own. The Druid held up her open hand and whispered, conjuring fire in her palm. She reared back her arm and hurled the fire toward the thickest cluster of Gibberlings near her!

OOC:

Einar's javelin pierces gibberling and nails it into the ground. Ruby's bolt hits and kills yet another foul creature. With Jaheira and Khalid attempting to follow the others running for the woods.

Simon's spell spooks the horde, a few creatures decide to run to the other side of the meadows, while others scatter back to the burrows.

OOC: As such...end of combat. Milestone reached of level 2.

It takes a few minutes before the group finally feels safe. The howling and shrieking can still be heard from the directions of the horde's camp. The shrieks become more desperate, angry almost like the creatures were upset with group stealing their food and not been able to grab new food.

Khalid leans next to the tree breathing heavily and eyes the group. He wipes away the forehead from heavy sweat dripping into his eyes.

Jaheira looking a little unsteady on her feet walks around the area looking in all directions. She then approaches Khalid, then the merchant who ran away with the group also. She makes a few quick gestures and blue, calming light envelopes her hands, which then spreads to both men, "There, there husband all better. That was quite a disease you had. You too, merchant. About a month and you both would have turned into those blasted creatures...", she pauses and looks around the group. "I have to thank you for coming to my rescue. Does anyone else require healing aid?"

The merchant sits next to Khalid, the sitting next to the half elf actually more like half collapse, half passing out from exhaustion, "Whoa...I ain't as sprite as I was years ago. I too have to thank you, strangers. I 'spose introduction is in order. I am Jorvan Strider, merchant of wonderful city of Athkatla. Was on my way to check out our new store in Baldur's Gate when we were waylaid by those creatures..."

Not quite trusting his voice yet, He simply shook his head wearily at the offered healing. He'd suffered only the baresr of scratches. He'd be fine as long as it was cleaned. He focused on cleaning his axe on the grass, and kept an eye on their surroundings. There would be a reason the gibberlings didn't dare Come here.

When the merchant introducer himself, Einar just nodded in greeting, still not in the mood to talk.

She takes a quick walk between the trees looking in the direction of where the team ran away from, "We do not have much time and I was not why you were all summoned to Friendly Arms Inn. I am sure Khalid promised a pay", she nods her head while looking at Khalid.

Khalid props himself up and fishes for something in his bag, then goes from one party member to the next giving each a leather purse with some metal clanking within.

When this is over Jaheira studies the team, as if weighing her options. "...I am unsure how much Khalid have told you. Him and I are part of the group called Harpers. We are sworn to protect people of Faerun of any dangers and keeping it in balance", her voice becomes low and already thick Tethyrian accent even thicker. "When we were attacked by these creatures, Khalid and I were summoned to Baldur's Gate by our close friend and fellow Harper. She has strong suspiscious of a growing threat in the city. We needed somebody new, but headstrong, and good. Your task for why you were summoned to the tavern was not to rescue me, but to help us unravel this mystery. "Good, good. Than most of the group it seems already in agreement", she give merchant a quick glance, "A fellow harper and a close friend. She is in her 20s, however may look younger. Light brown hair, green eyes, visible scar over her right eye. She usually wears leather armor with a green cloak. She is expecting us in Elfsong Tavern. The tavern is located on the East, Lower City portion of Baldur's Gate. If you are near Wyrm's Crossing you are there. Khalid and I need to return to Friendly Arms Inn urgently to finish some of the task at hand there, we will catch you in Baldur's Gate in about 10 days. If any correspondence need to be exchanged, then speak to Imoen. She will relay information to us. Oh and if she asks for a secret word use Shadowdale

Merchant catches Jaheira eyes and nods at her, "As I mentioned previously I am a merchant. I would be very appreciative, if your group will have me reach the city. I am not asking to look for my cart and I do not have any coin on me. However, if you are to help I will figure a way to thank all of you. Maybe you can stop by at my store. It is a first store we have opened in Baldur's Gate. However, it is our fifth one in the world. Perhaps if you have travelled, you may have heard of us Bards and Nobles? We started with some books, scrolls, trinkets, slowly opened up some weapons and armor sections. If not for the coins, perhaps I will be able to provide you with a discount!, he looks around the group a look of hope and perhaps worry on his face.

Moonsong closed her eyes as she tapped into the Flow of Nature. Her skin cooled at the silvery blue energies that knit the wound in her back. The divine magicks of the Earth not healed, but reinvigorated her. She stepped with graceful flourish that made her pale blonde hair wave like a flaxen sheet.

When Moonsong overheard Einar, she gently squeezed his uninsured arm. Well, as much as she could squeeze a veritable tree trunk of solid muscle. “I share your...apprehension of cities. However, you proved yourself for formidable in our recent fight. We shall surely need your might again.”

Moonsong nodded at Jaheira. “Indeed, I think we are all unanimous in aiding your cause.” She waved a hand toward the Merchant. “Certainly! It would be safer for you if you traveled with us and returned to the city.”

21:45, Today: Moonsong rolled 11 using 1d8+3.  Cure Wounds on Self.

As Jaheira & Khalid departed, Moonsong assisted her companions in breaking camp. “We must make haste and leave these woods. The Gibberlings will soon find our scent, and we do not wish to meet them at night.” She gathered any herbs useful in their journey ahead, and stared purposefully at the sky, noting the position of the celestial bodies in the sky.

“I shall guide you to Baldur’s Gate. I know the roads and woods alike well enough to lead us there.” Moonsong glanced at Einar. “If I stumble along the way, I will need your assistance in righting our path.” Then, Moonsong motioned for them all to follow her...

A little uncertain about the kind words from Moonsong, but also more than a little happy, Einar simply grunted his affirmation when she mentioned him assisting her in finding the way. While he didn't know these Woods, He did know Woods in general. How different could these be? It was still in the same lands after All.

OOC:
Einar gives support to Moonsong's survival rolls. Which, if there's Any doubt, mens that you roll 2 d20's for each check and take the Best result.

It would have taken about a day to get to Baldur's Gate, however Moonsong was either nervous or the unfamiliar with these woods, also the idea that these woods were filled with nasty creatures may have been putting her off. It takes a day and a half of walking to finally make it to the front entrance of Baldur's Gate.

First the forest recedes followed by smaller farms, then larger buildings. As you go around the corner you notice walls of Baldur's Gate starting to get closer and higher. Several more minutes and you approach the entrance.

It is blocked by from what you can see 5 guards, dressed in Flaming Fist armor. One who seems to be a higher ranking talks to a small line of people ahead of you. A few words, some coins exchanged and he continues to motion people forward. It is finally your turn. He motions for you to approach him. His voice is rushed and bored at the same time, "Standard fee of 1 copper per each person entering the city of Baldur's Gate. Additional one copper for any stock brought in, one per head", he motions for the group to provide the payments, "Additionally state your intent of coming to this city. Pleasure or business? Alright? Sounds good"

OOC: Those who paid he motions through into the city without awaiting the answer to his question. Those who do not provide the payment are met with a suspicious look".

Einar Eyed the exchange of coin with interest, relieved that it seemed a hasslefree procedure. Once Simon was squared away, He Too walked up to the guard. "Same." He said, handing the guard a gold coin as well.
"business." He Then added after a beat. He definitely wasn't visiting such a big city for pleasure. The mere thought of so many People, so close together... It was enough to give him shivers.

Perhaps the rest of the group felt glad to be rid of the forest, but Moonsong felt differently when she saw the imposing gates. The pushy brusqueness of the Flaming Fist reminded Moonsong why she proffered the solitude of the forest. When the gatekeeper bellowed his orders, she rummaged for the change made by the barmaid a few days back. “Here.”

After she paid her fee, she said, “Business.” She quickly shuffled along with Einar and Simon, only sparing the briefest backwards glance for Ruby. Already the din of the city assaulted her nerves. Although Moonsong maintained her composure, she wanted to be off the streets as quickly as possible.

You attempt to find your way, but the business of the city makes it hard to navigate. Jorvin coughs to get attention to him, when he notices your troubles. He gives you quick directions which make it easier to navigate to the tavern.

"I appreciate your help, friends. Once again, if you have a moment see if you can visit me at the shop. I will be there for the next few days, making sure the shop is working fine and also to write letters to the families of my deceased colleagues. Once again, than you for all of your help. Don't forget the shop is called Bards and Nobles!"

With that said he disappears into the crowd.
