Legend says.
That the creator of the elves made a garden for himself to relax in. This small area was filled with a variety of trees, plants and animals. The Creator of the elves would come here for peace and quiet. No normal intelligence creature was allowed to enter the garden and The Creator did not place any in the garden himself.
Even his wife and four daughters did not know of this place to start with. Slowly however first his wife and then his daughters discovered his secret Hideaway. They all understood his need for a quite place of himself. Well apart from his third daughter. Each lady would come to the beautiful garden themselves when the creator was busy. Enjoying the peace and quite and keeping the garden a secret to themselves.
After a few visits the creator realized his garden had been found but nobody ever came to the garden when he visited it so he guessed it was his close family and said nothing. Believing they would not harm the place.
His third daughter however became angry and jealous of the place. Over time the fact he had not told her of it got to her. She started to visit the place and changed things in it. Then she started to damage it. It was only a mater of time until she over stepped the line and she started to kill one or two of the animals or plants out of Revenge and spite. At first she was careful not to be found out. One day the Creator found a dead squirrel and he realized that something outside of the garden had killed it. A mixture of sadness and anger filled him. Why would somebody have done this to the squirrel. He looked up to see if he could find who had done such a thing. But the perpetrator was not in the garden. As he looked around he saw two small trees that stood close together. They waved at him. He studied them and they waved at him again. He walked over to them and touching an outstretched limb from each he communicated with them. They show him what they had felt, what had happened. To his horror he could feel his third daughter sneak up on the unsuspecting squirrel and attack it with a dark negative energy Bolt. This was what had killed the squirrel. The creator of the elves thanked the trees for their help. He then placed the ability for him to see through them. The Creator left the garden and waited for his third daughter to returned to the garden. When she returned not long after his third daughter stalked a swan close to the trees. As she was about to leash out with a bolt of dark energy at the Swan The Creator appeared. He stopped her. An argument broke out between them. The creator of the elves banished his daughter from the garden and from his site. Telling the others of the family and his friends what she had done.
The third daughter realized that the two trees had been the cause of her downfall. She swore revenge on the trees but the Creator stopped her by locking the garden away so nobody could get to it. He also turned those two trees into the first elves. Then he sent his spirit out into the garden and slowly turned a number of small trees into other elves. So the number of elves was big enough for elves to have children and populate the garden.
Only the first two elves ever saw The Creator or experienced his power. The other first elves just woke up from being trees. Each one that did was welcomed into the world by the first two elves. They just sense when a tree would become an elf and waited to introduce themselves.
So only the first two elves truly understand the power and wonder of The Creator.
Note (1).
This is however a Legend and most of the other elves believe that this story is a result of the first two elves in the garden not knowing how to process silver moon dust mushrooms. A rare and fantastically tasting mushroom. They are not deadly to elves but if not properly prepared and roasted will result in a very vivid and intense hallucination trip. They also seem to somehow induce a shared hallucination experiences somehow.
Note (2).
However in their defense the first two elves point out that all elves seemed to have a natural ability to communicate with (or have a good basic understanding of) either plants, animals or a natural understanding of the elements, the weather in general.
