Your SIN and You


Hello friends!  Today we are going to talk about something very interesting.  First, I want you to put your left hand on the top of your right shoulder, between your shoulder and neck.  Do you feel something there?  Something hard?  Just below the skin?  That is known as your SIN and no one else has one just like yours.

So what is a SIN?  SIN is an acronym, like an abbreviation.  It stands for Secure Identity Number.  See?  S-I-N, SIN.  Yes, Mr. Roberts, but why is it there?

The SIN is a like a computer chip that your parents had implanted under your skin when you were a baby.  They did it because they love you very much and because it is the law in Night City.  Your SIN shows that you live here in the Night City neighborhood and allows you to do many important things.

Your SIN can be read by government officials like our friend Miss Magnum, the neighborhood police officer.  Do you remember nice Miss Magnum?  This reading shows the official that you live here.  You can do many important things only if your SIN is scanned first.  Things like voting, jury duty, land ownership, air and space travel, and the ability to have a job.

So you should be very proud of your SIN.  You are very lucky to have one.

And what if you don't have one?  Did you feel your shoulder, but not feel your SIN?  Well, first of all, remember that Mr. Roberts loves you just the way you are.  But you can still get a SIN even if you don't have one now.  Just tell your parent or parents that you want one.  Because they love you so much, they will either pay the 100 eb fee or work the 100 hours of community service so that you can have a SIN, just like everyone else in the Night City neighborhood.
