ROLE ABILITY: Medicine

BIO: Kenji Takanori mustered out of the army as a SOF combat medic with a body full of shrapnel, PTSD, and a serious drug habit. Employing a since-discredited braindance detox program, the military ostensibly got him clean before spitting him back into the civilian world. Sobriety didn’t take. Ken landed a medtech job with Trauma Team International, where he soon fell back on old habits, opportunistically pilfering drugs from both employer and client alike. One particularly hefty score, lifted from a DOA dealer-to-the-B-List-stars who’d fallen afoul of his supplier, landed his Trauma Team crew on a cartel hit list. A week later, Ken’s team dropped into a ganger ambush set up by a bogus emergency call. Most of the team was killed in the first 60 seconds. Riding high on adrenaline and stims, Ken somehow managed to shoot his way clear of the kill zone, but the subsequent joint NCPD-TTI investigation uncovered his chemically-impaired state during the call. Trauma Team International dropped his ass like a bad habit, citing its zero-tolerance substance abuse policy, but was kind enough not to press criminal charges (so as to avoid any bad press in the screamsheets). Wracked with guilt for leading his teammates to their untimely doom, Ken was well on his way to a slow suicide-by-substances when a chance encounter with an old war buddy started him on the path to sobriety. Clean now for the first time in years, Kenji, using the portmanteaux handle, Kentucky (his nickname since basic training), works as a freelance medtech, selling his life-saving (and taking) skills on the mean streets of Night City.

APPEARANCE: Kentucky intentionally eschews clothing that belies his military background, favoring instead street chic leisurewear (two exceptions to this rule are his dogtags and a bracelet engraved with the names of fallen comrades-at-arms). He wears his chin-length black hair in a Samurai topknot (don't call it a man-bun).

BIO: Alexander Cruz grew up in the Aldecaldo camp in Heywood.  From a young age, he was more interested in girls, guns, gadgets, and grease than bugs-in-your-teeth rides across the hellscape of ‘merica.  At sixteen he took the ASVABs and scored high enough to be offered a huge signing bonus for a six year stint in the U.S. Navy's Submarine Electronics/Computer Field.  Alex couldn’t see past the dollar signs and signed up not fully understanding that he was committing to spending most of those six years in a tin-tube, deep in the ocean.  Unwilling to pay back his recruitment bonus, he toughed it out, earned his dolphins, then promised himself he’d spend the rest of his life on land after EAOSing.

Returning to Night City, he hoped to find work.  Despite his honorable discharge from the military, few could look past his Aldecaldo heritage or the burning rubber Aldecaldo light tattoo on his right forearm.  So Alex crashed with his cousin, with whom he soon partnered with to open a garage in a forlorn Heywood Industrial warehouse.  After a slow start, business picked up when word got around that Cruz & Cousin was more than happy to indulge in illicit activities, including chopping, VIN forgery, and illegal combat mods.

Black Jasper (NPC)



Black Jasper
NPC Fixer

Black Jasper has been steadily gaining influence with Edgerunners in the New Westbrook area.  He's got a decent reputation as a fixer that doesn't screw the crews over who work for him, but rumor mill has it that he's come down like the fist of god on a crew that thought they were smarter than he was when it came time to pay what was due.  He's got a small converted warehouse in western New Westbrook that used to be a luxury auto dealership, but has had all of the exterior windows covered with reinforced steel plating to keep the riffraff (and cyberpsychos) out.

With a slight Midwest accent that has him pronouncing phrases like "warsh the car," Jasper obviously not an original Night City resident, though he hasn't shared with folks where exactly he's from and how he got here.

Most of his contracting is done in local bars, but Black Jasper occasionally runs meetings out of his auto shop Marked Motors, a specialty shop that upgrades last century's greatest cars in the lethal street weapons for the nearby executive enclaves, which gives him an in with corpo clients.

He's not seen in public without L.Seth, his bodyguard and Solo muscle.

Whisper (PC)

Martin Lowell - "Whisper"

Whisper, like many of his generation, grew up on Night City's streets, staring up not at the stars but at the lights of the megacorp towers.  Both were equally out of reach.  But the stars have to interface with the dirt to make business happen, and Whisper was a regular in the clubs where the informal deals were made.  He orbited their periphery, doing odd favors and hoping for his big break.

That break came one bad night in the Third Eye.  An exec decided to settle a problem kinetically and Whisper was in the right place at the right time to stop two bullets and make it look intentional afterward.  The suit he saved didn't feel particularly indebted.  The suit's assigned bodyguard, on the other hand, was very grateful - her boss had ditched her to go slumming, but that wouldn't have saved her job if he'd bled out under the drum set of Night City's third-best Samurai cover band.  So she got Whisper patched up, took him under her wing, and taught him a few things.

One of the more critical lessons was marketing.  Whisper needed a niche if he was going to be more than another disposable hero.  That niche, he decided, would be subtlety.  Razorboys with fuck-off-big guns and enough ostentatious chrome to shit out a motorcycle get noticed, but a lot of people need their problems solved in way that won't be noticed.  There's more money and cred to be made with a rep for discretion than one for putting hair on the walls.  And some of the best marketing is a satisfied customer who tells his friends - or his boss - about the guy who took care of an issue quietly...

BIO:Samantha Fletcher suicide-crashed a promising career in NCPD Homicide when the brass asked her to help frame up one of the usual suspects for a particularly heinous murder that she knew (but couldn't quite prove yet) had been committed by a corporate exec. It wasn’t the first time she was asked to cover for a corpo VIP, but Sam made sure it was the last. Having turned down several job offers from corporate security headhunters, Sam currently pays the bills as a private investigator (Cipher Investigations). It’s dangerous working cases without PD backup on call, especially since more than a few of her collars are back on the streets, but she’s pretty good at handling herself in a scrap. Besides a relatively intact network of CI’s and low-level criminals who’d currently be doing time if she'd gone in hard at trial, Sam still has a few friends in the police department, and a couple of prominent, satisfied clients owe her favors.

APPEARANCE: Sam is naturally fair skinned and fair-haired. She's embraced Fashionwear as a means of surviving undercover, so her look on the job is often tailored for the exigencies of the gig.

BIO: At the age of ten, Miguel Ángel Lopez De Acuña witnessed his entire family being gunned down at a cousin’s quinceñera. He only survived the massacre by being knocked over and buried beneath his mother’s bullet-riddled body. Alone, on the streets of Tijuana, Angel was taken in by an up-and-coming narco gang (who, he later learned, was responsible for the hit that wiped out his family) and put to work , first as a lookout, then as a courier, and finally as a sicario. In a fateful bit of irony, on his 15th birthday, Angel was gifted a one-shot polymer and assigned his first hit. Initially considered expendable, the teenaged hitman was assigned the toughest jobs, but somehow always managed to zero the target without getting himself killed in the process. After  proving his deadly worth time and again, the cartel invested in the young assassin by paying for a suite of cutting-edge combat cyberware. Little did his employers know, they were engineering their own doom. Now a fearless eighteen-year-old living weapon known throughout Tijuana as 'El Niño'*, Miguel Ángel turned on his employer, single-handedly wiping out the criminal organization in a merciless serial of bloody vengeance that lasted nearly a year. Ignoring the bidding war for his services that followed, El Niño spurned the attention of rival cartels and made his way north to Night City where he makes a living as a professional assassin. El Niño holds to a personal code of sorts: he only kills other killers.

*Meaning literally 'the child', but also referencing the climatological phenomenon that periodically produces catastrophic weather events.

APPEARANCE: Dark haired, black-eyed, and slightly androgynous, El Niño is relatively small in stature, slight but wiry, built for speed, not power. He is a dapper dresser with an eye for bleeding-edge fashion. His stylish, almost flamboyant attire doesn't quite make up for his unnerving lack of behavioral affect.

Blind since birth, Teagan is a believer in the promises of the New Inquisition.  At least in the kind versions of the faith put forward by the booster-gang.  More importantly, she serves as a perfect tool for recruitment: cybernetically pure, beautiful, young, and kind.  Teagan possesses a certain innocence that is rare in Night City, able to be herself and hold her composure even in the face of other's attempts to make her their tool.  She is a willing recruiter, believing in the message that if she remains pure, she will be whole in the next life and that the promises of biotechnology are lies, meant to lead mankind into temptation and away from the Light.

Appearance:  Teagan is somewhere between 17 and 19, blond hair, with a slight build.  She wears simple dresses of bright colors (someone must be choosing them for her) and a simple wooden cross as a necklace.

Royce is a street rat (or "Rat King") inhabiting the combat zone just outside of the Listener's Pagoda and the range of the Tyger Claws.  Somewhere between 12 and 15, somewhere between male and feamel, Royce is...well, Royce.  As they call themselves in the third person.  Sharp, tough, and able to survive in the badlands of NC, Royce has been on the streets for years and has an encyclopedic knowledge of the Combat Zone and the forces moving around in there.  If you can make contact and have something to pay for the information.

Appearance: A bit over 5' tall, rail thin with androgynous features, Royce wears a ferrari red light armorjack coat, boots two sizes too big, and is adorned with a rat skull necklace.  And a big motherfucking knife that Lube Job has helpfully made even more deadly.  So yay, another kid with a dangerous weapon in NC.

Pandora D'Angelo



Identified by Black Jasper as a solo worth rescuing from the Listener Temple, Pandora D'Angelo shook off (mostly) the electronic torment she'd been under and shot her way out of danger while alternatingly naked and wearing a mylar blanket.  We don't know much about her yet, but she's out there and a potential ally against the remaining Listeners, should such an ally become necessary.

Appearance: Tall and lithe with a dark complexion. Cybernetically modified mirror eyes and ears courtesy of the Listeners, subdermal armor, more smartgun pads than seems strictly necessary.  And lots of scars that would normally have been invisible to the eye.

A short, somewhat portly ripperdoc of East European origin. Rumor has it, he used to work for a secret police force somewhere behind the old Iron Curtain. His visible chrome includes cyberhands optimized for surgery and cybertech repair, and a pair of Russian-made cybereyes (not available to the general public) that some claim he installed himself.

Stuart Parks - "Peter Parkour"

A street kid born with no fear of heights, enclosed spaces, the dark, or getting caught, Peter spent most of his adolescent years exploring Night City's architecture and construction.  Somewhere along the way, he realized that the street had people who would pay him for the things he learned while wandering through places he shouldn't be in.  The leap from physical intrusion to data intrusion was an intuitive one for a teenager who thought in three dimensions and systems science.  By sixteen, Peter was using his proceeds from B&E jobs to pay for netrunning tutelage and cyber upgrades.

Peter isn't an edgerunner out of any sense of duty or justice or high ideals.  It's a life into which he grew unguided and the only place in Night City where he fit.  He doesn't know anything else, he's never really stopped to consider what "normal" might look like under other circumstances, and he carries a foreshortened sense of future that's not affectation so much as resignation.

NPC Netrunner

By all appearances, Viceroy is Black Jasper's pet Netrunner.  Or at least his preferred Netrunner.  Or trusted Netrunner.  Or something.  If there's more to the relationship other than friendship and professional respect, it's not on the outside.

Viceroy prefers working from a distance rather than getting her hands dirty, excelling at the finesse required to find ways to interact with systems that don't require direct physical contact with a subspecialty in real-time situational updates.  In the days of the Red, forgoing a colocation with target systems isn't easy and she'll forward deploy if necessary.  She'd just rather not.

The downside of providing real-time support of multiple operations is that Viceroy's sleep schedule has been blown all to hell for the last several years leaving her a connoisseur of the various sleep hacks, drugs, and cyberware options available to keep going no matter what.

Look, L.Seth is a dick.  There's no getting around that.  Why Jasper puts up with the needling is a mystery.  Most Fixers don't need their muscle keeping them humble in public, but there's some friendship there that goes back a long ways.  Twitchy reflexes, fine muscle control, and a bad attitude (combined with a ferocious cackle) keep most people at a distance.  There's no mistaking that L.Seth is a killer.  Just don't get him pointed in your direction.

The woman that was born Ksenia Orlova was brought up in the lawless Siberian streets of Krasnoyarsk. A mafiya footsoldier by the time she turned eighteen, someone must have thought that she had potential, for by the age of twenty two she had been recruited by SovOil, went through their private security program, wound up part of a small but very, very efficient kill team that dealt with particularly difficult problems.

There were four of them. Ksenia Nikolayevna Orlova no longer existed. She was Tri, Three in Russian. It’s tattooed on her left arm, in Cyrllic. три, one of a number of tattoos that cover her body. Real tattoos, none of your cybershit.

She still has no clue why SovOil turned on them. It’s above her pay grade. She was loyal. But it didn’t stop them trying to kill her. And failing. Obviously, or else she wouldn’t be here today. One and Four weren’t so lucky, although she has no idea what happened to Two.

And where is here? Night City. She’s been freelance for five years, is good at what she does, goes by the name Nyx, the Goddess of the night in Greek. And, more importantly, she’s managed to stay one step ahead of SovOil’s assassins.
