OOC

I'm game.

Need to re-read my notes and maybe adjust class and whatnot since I thought I remember us being critically short on healing outside the idea of a bard taking a few CLW's.

I’m thinking I might shift over to Inquisitor so that we get more healing options.  It’ll let me keep much of the previous idea I had and give us a better chance at surviving.

Hello all!

Stelian is a cleric of Pharasma with a particular dislike for Undead things. He was being "trained" to hunt Undead but got over zealous and jumped into the action before he was finished cooking.

He means well and brings the healing so hopefully Stelian might relieve some of the healing pressure from our beloved Bard.

=)

*chuckles*

Originally we were a group of a Ranger, Brawler, Rogue and Bard.  Choosing to be a bard was a half-measure to give us a little bit of arcane and a little bit of healing at the same time.

Now that we have a Cleric and Warpriest we've got the healing down much better.  Add in the Brawler and Barbarian to handle fighting on different levels (also the Warpriest and Cleric).
Valus has the troublemaking down pat as our rogue.  That then allowed me to shift from Bard to Arcanist so we'd have some serious arcane strength as well rather than a half-measure.

Re: OOC

Character Creation:
Deities.
The party will be from Greyhawk. So use the Greyhawk gods if your character is of a Divine class.

Stelian:
Stelian is a cleric of Pharasma with a particular dislike for Undead things.

Um is this right?

If you just want a deity who HATES undead, then  Pelor is the big name in Greyhawk, the Flan Deity of the Sun. "Pelor is wrathful against the forces of evil, and is especially opposed to the undead. However, Pelor urges his followers to remember that excessive attention to things of evil can blind one to the truly important things: compassion and goodness. These are what must be emphasized above all."

If you want a death deity who doesn't like undead, there's not much Chronepsis fits the bill but he's mostly a Dragon deity, not usually worshiped by humans.

Full disclosure Friedhelm though not overly religious admires Mayaheine the most. Mayaheine was a paladin of Pelor who ascended to demigoddess. But as I mentioned Pelor is possibly the most popular deity in all the Flanaess so he comes up often.

Re: OOC

I don't think Phasma minds undead but I could be wrong on that aspect.

But yes, Pelor is a good god vs undead. Healer. Sun god. Possibly Saerenrae would work.

Re: OOC

Saerenrae is good but isn't one of the Greyhawk deities where we'll be starting out at, of which they have plenty to choose from.  Pelor is a good one like Friedhelm mentioned.  Wee Jas works only if the whole undead angle is nuanced with your cleric.  For Wee Jas making undead is okay as long as they are sourced lawfully and aren't raised against their will. :)

No Pharasma *hates* undead there is a lore about urgathoa escaping her boneyard to become the 1st undead and how that grinds Pharasma's gears.

In reply to Friedhelm Fitela (msg # 51):

I am kindda sad, the main draw of Pathfinder is the Lore. I love their deities, but I will adopt. I'll finish the character first and then figure out the deity situation.

Thanks for the heads up gang!

Re: OOC

Greyhawk actually has fairly deep lore if people are interested in diving into it mostly centered around the Greyhawk war ironically named after the neutral state which happened to be about at the center of the crescent shaped conflict. There's not everything under the sun like Forgotten Realms, or the Spell Punk thoughts about a world full of magic.

For instance it took me several read through to get Friedhelm's geopolitical position down though I did pick Sterich for being a politically unstable region with many petty nobles who may or may not actually be nobles.

Re: OOC

Pathfinder has a great bit of lore and deities, I agree.

Still we're going to be starting out Greyhawk and like Friedhelm's mentioned it has some really great lore as well that is often overlooked.  Mind of course while we are starting out Greyhawk at some point in time we'll be drawn into Ravenloft...or so went the initial advert for this game.

Re: OOC

Erm well the thing is Ravensloft is designed as an encapsulated setting, because baseline D&D is all power fantasy and big damned heroes which doesn't translate well to creating horror.

That said while many D&D setting crossover canonically with Ravensloft Greyhawk's intertwining is by far the greatest.

The end of 2e was a Greyhawk-Ravenloft-Planescape game setting called "Die Vecna Die!" which ended 2e and gave a reason why 3e everything changed, like say Vecna suddenly appearing in the Deities section of the Player's Handbook, when he wasn't a deity before. But I'm pretty sure the god of secrets would take my hand and eye if I gave away too many of his.

I just want to know how a game I remember coming out while I was in high-school is now old enough buy drinks in the US.

I've never play Ravenloft so any hints about it please no. I want to be fully surprised :)

In the past I've tried to run Horror games. Its harder then most realize!

I've seen Vecna come to life...in Critical Role. Pretty epic IMO.
