Re: OOC: Status

I'd like it if I could get this going, but I don't think that's happening right now.

So yeah, I think we're dead.

(plays a mournful shanty on an old fiddle)

Okay, well, it's good to have the official word, I think.   Thanks for the time you put in, Gwen.

I'm for sure going to run this thing, now;   I don't do that lightly, I've got what I think is a worthwhile basis for a meaningful game.   I wouldn't bother, otherwise.

I plan to have it open and live shortly, perhaps this evening.     It won't be a big game;  five players/characters would probably be ideal.  However, I won't turn away anyone who played here, even if that makes it a little bigger.

And if comes to opening it to the unknown masses, I intend to select carefully.

Re: OOC: Status

I think I can step back in, but I want to get everyone's opinions first.

  1. Do we want to continue?
  2. Do we want to continue, or do we want to do a soft reboot?
  3. Who all is still in?
  4. Do we want to run Looking for Players between now and resuming play?

Plus... any other thoughts people might have.

My thoughts:

1. Yes.
2. Yes.
3. Me.
4. Maybe. If Gwen can play, then, no, because we have 6 players. If Gwen is out, then maybe 1. I think 6 is the Magic Number for Exiles.

I'm gonna keep out of a new commitment until after recovering from surgery - so I'll be in in 2-3 months

I should be able to catch back up with Cela in your game by next week - I'll probably need her NPCed for September.

  1. Check
  2. Check  (as in no reboot necessary)
  3. Count me in
  4. As long as we're talking at least five, and not more than seven, then no strong preference

Plus... any other thoughts people might have.

I am overdue to move on to a different character, at this point.   However, zero problem waiting till there's a story juncture where that makes sense.

How do you think Sue should exit? Fulfilling her mission or heroic self-sacrifice?

Re: OOC: Status

At one time, I was kind of inclined toward the latter.    At this point, I'd rather just have it integrated with the story in some way that makes sense, I think.

Open for business, people:  link to a message in another game

Enter at your own risk!

Note: My preference is to fill this with players I already know.   However, the preamble about what I'm looking for, and what I don't want, etc., is written with newbs in mind.  Some of it's things I realize I don't need to tell you guys, but it's designed to let fresh blood know what is and isn't okay.

Might have a character to submit in the next day or two.

Cool --

Things are moving ahead at a moderate pace, which is good by me.   For anyone who's interested, there's no rush, I'm giving priority to the players I know.

@Unseen I'm working on my RTJ too. Got a character pitch I'm pretty happy with.

Awesome, Danny; I'll look forward to getting the character.

In reply to Vic Doom (msg # 773):

Absolutely okay --  I can add you as a lurker, though most of the game threads will be group 0, and visible to the peeking public.

Danny:

I'm reaching a point, where if you want to play, I kind of need to at least have a concept from you.

The concept can (and should, to start) be brief; I don't need a long write-up or anything like that.   Sheet not immediately necessary, either.

Sally and Wade could tell you, I make the application process easy!   The odds are good I'm going to like whatever you have.   If you're too busy, changed your mind, no sweat;  but we'd like to see you there, if you're still up for it!

 * * *   (and one for group, if anyone has time to answer)

I'm aiding one player to design his sheet from the ground up, since there isn't any basis we could find online.

One of his powers fits the D6 description well.  But, we'd like it to have more 'oomph.'

Would it be better approach to give him a D8 or D10, but restrict what the power does to what's described under the D6 entry?

Or, say, have an SFX that lets him add one or more extra D6 when he uses it?

In reply to Unseen (msg # 776):

So, basically you want a power that's stronger in combat than it is during narrative? Such as super-strength where he can't lift much, but he can punch through mountains?

You might want to make that an SFX, where he can step up or double a die in exchange for a PP.

Re: OOC: Status

Okay, after an entire goddamned month of trying to pick the game back up and run with it... it's well past time to admit I'm not going to be able to make it happen, and apologize for taking so long to do so.

It was a good game, it was an honor and a pleasure to play with all of you and if I ever try to run something here again, you're all on the shortlist for preferential recruitment. It's unlikely. This format murders me and this game system is a spectacularly poor fit for it.

I'm working on setting something up on roll20/discord, if anyone's interested. Monday or Tuesday nights, American timezones, Street Fighter: the Storytelling Game 20th Anniversary Edition, anti-canon. PM me for details.

I'm going to refrain from closing the game for now, so that people can continue using it to coordinate their followups.

Re: OOC: Status

The first scenario was a lot of fun to play through, and we got to finish it, so thanks for that!

I agree; MHR has its virtues, but isn't the best fit for rpol.   Plainly, you did a lot of work running this.   I can understand where enough was enough.

Re: OOC: Status

Yeah, MHR isn’t the most user-friendly system to learn. I’ve never understood its wild popularity at RPOL!

Vic & Spider-Woman, thanks for providing a space where we could all meet and play! It was a great experience for storytelling with great people!
