Exactly. If it weren't for RPOL's handling of the player/character divide, I would have asked you all not to disclose this information to teach other OOC. Spoilers. But since your names are already publicly available...

In any case, I hope that you get into this a little bit in-character as soon as we begin, and continue offering up drips and drabs as gameplay rolls along. Seeing something messed up in a mission timeline is always a perfect opportunity for you to say "Wilson Fisk is in prison? But he saved the Earth from Matthew Murdock and his Hand ninjas!"

Seriously, feel free to make up anything you want about your home timelines. I might even prod you to do so, sometimes.

The Impossible Man conquered the Earth where I come from, and took Squirrel Girl as his empress.

In other news:  I should be done pretty soon, so I won't be holding this up..

OOC: Status

Hello, hello.  I'm here now.  I'll likely be done in a rather swift fashion, and would be willing to wait a mission if I finish after the people still working on their stuff.  (Don't feel pressured/rushed or anything.)  I'm a quick learn and hungry for some extra fun to look forward to.

Watching the linked video and being new to the system, I heard a rumor plot points are a pain to track, so I'll keeping those tallied OOC in the bottom of my posts I suppose.  It appears I'll have a little bit of learning through observation to do, but I'm far from worried.

I do tend to have a habit of trying to mirroring the ongoing post lengths & styles, but left to my own devices I tend to post in walls.  If you want me to keep longer/shorter posts consistently, let me know.

Feel free to offer little OOC hints (be blunt) to nudge me in the right direction when I'm due for a reminder of something I'm goofing up.  I've had sessions with unrelated people who can't figure out it's my CHARACTER that's being mean, or some equally silly misunderstandings.  I assume none of that tomfoolery here, but my solution of bluntly inform me of how I'm being troublesome can lead to very quick fixes.  I do aim to have fun, and that's easier when everyone is having fun.

OOC: Status

I'm kind of a wanna be writer, a die hard reader, and enjoy longer posts from other players.   Preferably, where appropriate.   Most people in a pitched battle, or other high-stress situation, aren't gonna have the mental bandwidth to reflect philosophically about their years on the farm with uncle Ned.

I also tend to adjust to the group, somewhat.   I try to save my longer posts for where appropriate, and where they'll have meaning and impact.  I pretty much always put some meat on the bones, but if a one sentence post is what does the trick, for a particular response, I don't add unnecessary padding.

Some players seem to favor Disney type harmony, where everyone gets along, everything works out for the best in the end, etc.   I'm not one of them.  Unless the GM is being deceptive, this will not be one of those games.   The line between player and character is very clear in my head.  I can enjoy having an antagonist or rival at the character level, as long as it isn't some grudge at the player level.

My only suggestion to anybody who likes to dish it out, is don't be a glass cannon.  I meet a fair number of those on rpol.  (well, in life, really)  If someone wants to poke at me, then I expect them to be able to spar a little.

Anyway, welcome to the game, Rocket (Not Raccoon?); I think this one will be different, and fun.

Like Unseen said, I would recommend keeping the battle posts succinct. Save the “Wall O’ Text” for exposition & transitional scenes. Also, I have no problem telling you if you’re being troublesome. None.

You probably won't have any problem finding a comfortable median after seeing a few other people post.

My tolerance for longer posts is inversely proportional to the length of your paragraphs and your use of keywords and formatting-- bold and color the names of other characters, bold and color your dialog, italics and color your inner monolog, orange for OOC. Otherwise, long paragraphs of unformatted text just make my eyes slide right off of them.

Short posts during battles is good - would be good to have some downtime in between.

I'll go with pink for dialogue with this character.

Re: OOC: Status

Dibs on blue then. Mostly done, just gotta learn how to set up my SFX and I'll be set to learn the rest by example.

Edit:

Names and "Chat" are to be bold/colored.

'Inner thoughts' are colored/italicized.

Other peoples names are presumed to be in their color so they stand out then?

Paragraph length is one of those areas I adjust the most.  On my own I like to keep any given paragraph/block relevant to some form of action. If I post a LONG paragraph is likely is padded.

Keywords... like, mentioning Attack (Physical) before a paragraph describing it?  One of those things I figured I'd learn by example with.  I'll pick it up unexplained soon enough.

Simple enough stuff then.

Edit2: Unrelated, but what's a raccoon? :P

Put that in Orange with the Dice, actually. Describe your action the way you would normally, and if it calls for a dice roll, specify "inflict Emotional Stress on Paste Pot Pete".

And yeah, use a character's color when you say their name. There's going to be some overlap but it's easier telling Spider-Man from Funnybone than telling Spider-Man from Spider-Girl, Spider Slayers, and Spider-Woman.

And it would help even more if I'd gotten what I wanted and you'd landed Spider-Man, Spider-Man and Spider-Man on your initial team. (I do this, specifically, so you know it's okay for you to request a different pitch on a character someone's already playing. Also, because the collective noun for a group of Squirrel Girls is a "fantasy", as in "a fantasy of Squirrel Girls just walked by".)

Unfortunately, there's a reason Doreen doesn't return my phone calls...

18:56, Today: Timebroker, for the NPC Doreen, Doreen, Doreen, Doreeeeeeeen!, rolled 25 using d12+d8+d10+d10+d12 ((9,4,4,3,5)).

That looks like a 13/d12 to inflict Physical Stress against the Timebroker.

And thus your interdimensional adventure is cut short as your friendly neighborhood Timebroker is bonked straight the Hell to Horny Jail.

Also, god, I am so tired of that joke already.

Re: OOC: Status

Also, I just discovered that RPOL has options for fudging the dice built right into the dice roller. (First time GM on this platform.) I can guarantee you I won't be using those. If I want the outcome of the dice to go one way or another, I don't touch the dice.

That's what I figure as well.

SW, it sounds like you're in costume (or symbiote) because of a reference to your mask.

What are we seeing?   Is it the black symbiote look, or more like Spider Gwen?

It's Spider-Gwen look and it is the Symbiote, though that shouldn't be obvious.

I figure this started with normal clothes but falling = danger mode and a shift to the suit.

I'm not in a rush to post or anything, but - do we need to wait for all players to post every time in a scene like this?
