Re: OOC: Status

I think (and of course I'm not the GM) it's more a matter of this being the very first scene, and letting everyone do their intro.

But I see Tigro hasn't logged on in nearly a week.

Re: OOC: Status

I was under the same impression.  Introductions should be a big deal, and he mentioned 7 people.  I had also assumed our local neighborhood Timebroker had means of contacting them through e-mail, discord, in person, phone, something. (Several of those for me... if not all.)  So the not logging in for a week I assumed would be handled through some other means.  If not, I assume Timebroker will fix stuff.

Does he need a color? :3  I think I'll toss in a better physical description of my character into my next post I suppose.  After all, alternate universe people may not line up exactly to their former selves, and it's nice to know what you're looking at.  I feel like it sets the mood. :P

I suppose I could edit it into my last post, but kinda late after nearly everyone else has posted.  <_<;

In reply to Rocket (msg # 34):

Yeah, I had him on Discord. He's not a RPOL regular, and I forgot to notify him when I notified my slower players-- I didn't bother notifying the people who've been quick to respond to me, because I don't have their offsite contacts and because they'd only see the notifications at the same time they checked the main forum.

Also, I was planning on using Royalred for the Timebroker, but as the Timebroker, I'm also going to be using a lot of different colors for NPCs, including stepping all over PC colors.

Don't worry about being unique, just be consistent.

Re: OOC: Status

He's been to earth several times.  Loves Duct Tape.  And Earth tech is FAR more advanced then Rocket will credit it.  ...shame he only sees the commercial stuff.

EDIT: Quill even bought an MP3 player of an unspecified variety, he was shocked and amazed that it could hold HUNDEREDS of songs!  ...even somehow managed to fill it.  But yes, Quill is the primary reason Earth is a backwater planet.

Edit 2: Feel free to call him out on it. He'll finally get a chance to rant about Quill. XD

Probably just gonna raise my hand about the Earth thing after giving some time for others to react.  Though technically my suit/powers are from the moon.

Sorry I missed your question, Rocket;  seven is kind of a big group in terms of staying on top of all the dialog, reactions, information, etc.    Sue would chime in as being another earthling.

Re: OOC: Status

Totally fair.  I'll just presume it'll get edited in there at some point, and if not it doesn't wind up being important as he sure as heck would have figured it out by the time everybody establishes all these connections he doesn't have.

Does make me wonder though, would it be obvious to someone with enhanced senses that you threw up a force field at all?  He was carefully observing the situation, but your odd movements could be chalked up to an odd fear reaction, and it wasn't particularly specified if your shield(s) would fall inside or outside the webbing that most of the rounds hit.  Unanswered, I'll just presume he didn't notice the shielding.

That said, I suspect the whole group would probably appreciate a chance to react to the random non-threat at their health, so it'll likely be a while before I post next.  ...even if someone finally accused him of being a rabbit.

I'm not really sure on that;  I've only played this system one other time, and my character had no energy type powers.

Sue is Marvel's mistress of the invisible; I'm packing the D12s to prove it.  For sure there are some sensory things that would detect her fields. But I'd think it'd be above the usual D8 exceptional senses sort of thing.

Oh, you know, I forgot to write it in; but, you would have seen any number of those bolts strike the force field, which makes it obvious.     I'll edit it in. --Done; Polaris got it too.

I feel like we're getting ahead and we need to let people react to the various things happening before the firearms safety lecture can begin.

At least Rocket as he has someone trying to pull him in with a web-line AND someone trying to take his gun.

Classic Marvel “Superhero Misunderstanding”. It’s a time-honored tradition!

Participation doesn’t need to be “tit-for-tat”. Jump into the conversation, or post your own reaction or musings. :)

Oh, I love the misunderstanding - I just think the middle of the action stuff should happen before we get too far past it.

We don't know if the gun is grabbed or if there were other effects.

Re: OOC: Status

The tag on that visibility thing had two possible hitches: Sue's physical body having motions in line with someone activating some special ability, and the visibility of the effects of the shield.

If Sue doesn't move when activating the shields, he can't make any connection there (especially when ya got shot.)  If she did move, Rocket had (and lost) a chance to notice her movements and an unexpected variable line up without other explanations.  That said, Spider-Woman's webs drew his attention away from you, and the movement part was suddenly limited to sound.  I didn't consider the timing of Spider-Woman acting before you strongly enough, figuring Rocket had a chance to see such movements before he turned around to what happened behind me.  So after reconsidering; my question is currently irrelevant.  I'll consider any offered answer as far as movement goes a 'future reference' thing.

If Sue's force fields didn't visibly stop any rounds (as that wasn't specified when I asked) due to being inside Spider-Woman's web shield, Rocket wouldn't have had a chance to know you did anything at all.

As is though, he's tacking on disconnected evidence to his pile of 'stuff going on.'  His Psych skill does combo well with his enhanced senses, and events in the aftermath so far is lining right up with his intent to find what he can use to get out of here.  He'll get there soon enough I suspect... or diplomacy will win before he gets there.

Unrelated: Wow, an 18 on disarm?  Best Rocket could hope to do is match it.  I knew what I was going to have him do before even reading the numbers, but that's quite a first roll.  Nice!  ...though I don't have any real intent on using the 1, I suspect someone else will when I feel it's time to post.

As far as 'tit for tat' goes, I feel it would be unfair to prevent somebody to respond to getting shot at because they were at work, sleeping, or something equivalent.  Not to mention their character's reactions are certainly being measured.  After all, if someone seams unusually ok with everything going on, maybe they're less prisoner and more warden... opening up another possible exit route.  And that's not counting all responses.

Oh, wait, is Rocket about to actively contribute to more problems?  We'll find out after I see a few more posts. :3  I'm extra confident no-one will wind up dead at this stage.

EDIT: two someones now for the unusually calm camp.  And one of them is reeaaal quiet...
- even if his ability to follow that I fired AFTER they returned is a bit suspect.
- - Then again, complaints about this being hard to follow was voiced.
- - - Re-reading, only one post left to wait for.

With the pace we're going, I figure I better claim the mantle of the team's "strong but silent type." This player is used to games that run at a snails' pace, but don't let me slow things down. If I don't react to something before the next beat, just assume I was standing nearby scowling like an edgelord. (This is a more annoyingly edgy hardened Danny Rand than the one we all might know.)

Re: OOC: Status

I was brought into this campaign under the pretense that it would be about a round of posts every two days, so don't feel pressured or compelled to adjust your character to match pace on my account.  I'm good waiting if ya need me to.

Edit: That said, I can get carried away as well.  If ya need adjustments, just lemme know.

Re: OOC: Status

I think this has been NGQS (New Game Quicksilver Syndrome).

Most of the games I play in are slower ones, I'd be okay with the pace settling down.   All things equal, I prefer to have some time to consider what I'm going to post, rather than having to sling it out.

This is the only game I'm in on rpol currently (just came back from taking a break from this place)

I usually like games that are a little slower than this - I do think it's good to get a little bit of a foundation built quickly, at least.

Re: OOC: Status

I've played this before, and there is (or was) a particular way you build a dice pool.

I noted in looking at the roller, other players seem to just be summing all the relevant dice.   So that's what I did.  It is more straightforward, but not the way the rules I have describe doing it.

Or, if I'm missing something in how this game is working, please let me know.

Never mind on that, I was mis-reading results; will edit that-

Ok, I think we're good now.  I could've stepped up a die, but don't find it needful to re-roll.

And Wade, this is all just appropriate RP.   Sue has no experience with Ghost Rider, or anything like that.

Re: OOC: Status

In reply to Unseen (msg # 53):

If I assembled the rules correctly, you can only use the total of two dice unless you have specific abilities allowing you to bypass that. (Such as Rocket's Burst/Area Attack SFX) From the remaining dice, you pick an effect die to determine how strong the effect is.  However, I'm picking this up from bits and pieces from their website without actually buying the game, so I could be off.  Feel free to inform me if/where I go wrong.

EDIT: If there are limitations on which dice can be used where, I assume I'll be told otherwise.  I assume they only allow one per pool though.  So no violence/duty, gun/explosives/jetpack, enhanced reflexes/leaping powers at once, for example.  HOWEVER!  Even if such limits don't exist, the more dice you roll, (especially only keeping two,) the more risk you take.  EVERY one rolled is bad for you, after all.

The game follows Cortex rules where you total up two individual dice unless otherwise noted. The die roller, hwoever, sums them anway-- which you can simply disregard.

And I suspect my math may be wrong, but wouldn't it be 19 with a d10 effect

My SFX said to "add a D6" -- I thought that meant to the total.   If only to the pool, then it would be 19.

But, my effect die would actually be D12; I used the D10, but I get to bump it up one.   But it's academic now...

Oh, I wouldn't say it's academic. The fire around Funnybone's skull is already low and flickering, and your forcefield is filling up with smoke.
