Character Generation

We will be using the races and classes from the Players Handbook.

The method for determining Ability Scores will be as follows:

Roll 4d6, discard the lowest die.
Roll 6 times.
If you do not have two scores of 15 or better, discard all die rolls and try again.

All classes are available except for Assassin (No evil characters for this game)

When you have decided on race and class, mail me for your age die roll.

Obviously Race and Age mods take effect after you assign your ability rolls, just to make sure everyone gets best advantage from their age mods

Young Adult = -1 Wisdom & +1 Constitution

Mature = +1 Strength & +1 Wisdom

I don't think there is any chance of characters being in the older categories but the mods are cumulative so a mature character ends up with +1 STR, +1 CON and the WIS mods cancel each other out.

Don't forget to make a 1d100 roll for you Secondary Skill

Character Generation

Some observations regarding Character Sheets.

Most of you are using a version of my standard Character Sheet however some of you are using your own version of Character Sheets.  I am not going to force anyone to use my sheet however if you choose to use your own sheets please ensure that your sheet has ALL of the information included on my sheets.

My preference is that everyone uses the same sheet so that I can find information quickly when I need to do updates (especially when adding things like X Points) or if I have to temporarily NPC any characters.

Below is a copy of the standard sheet (without racial or class special abilities) for your reference.  When you get a few minutes I would appreciate everyone checking their sheets to make sure all the required info is available (and calculating your encumbrance will be important when it comes to carrying loot out of the dungeon.  As added incentive, if you don't have encumbrance calculated you will be considered encumbered and unable to carry any extra loot.)

Non-Weapon Proficiencies

  When we started this campaign I was still refreshing myself with 1st Ed rules so I didn't include Non-Weapon Proficiencies in character generation but we have been going for a while now and some of those skills will come in very handy for low level characters (especially Healing).  These skills will also help reinforce players Secondary Skills that are pretty much useless in their first iteration in the DMG.

  So I have added a table to your sheets for Non-Weapon Proficiencies and for some of you I have added your 1st proficiency as well (All players must have one proficiency that matches your Secondary Skill) where it is obvious based on your Secondary Skill.  If there are multiple options that could suit your Secondary Skill then you can choose a proficiency to suit.

  If you have not rolled for your Secondary Skill then you will need to do this before you can begin allocating Non-Weapon Proficiencies.

  For those of you that don't have access to the Wilderness Survival Guide or Dungeoneer's Survival Guide, I will add more info to this thread about the available proficiencies.
