The Anatomy of Character Sheets

When I get some extra time I will add some relevant details here about your character sheets.  I prefer that everyone use a standard sheet where possible so that if I need to update anything or if I am looking for something I will know exactly where it should be :)

Today's lesson is about your Finances table and I will go into more detail regarding Encumbrance in my next post for this thread.  You will all have a table like this one on your sheets...

FINANCESStored/CarriedAmount
Platinum Pieces--
Gold Piecesbelt pouch10
Electrum Pieces--
Silver Piecessaddle bags1000*
Copper Piecesback pack100
Copper Piecessaddle bags2000*
Gems--
Jewellery--
Total EncumbranceFinances110
Total EncumbranceWeapons & ArmourTBA
Total EncumbranceEquipmentTBA

The "Stored/Carried" column is for the location of your coins, the "Amount" column is your total coins of that denomination.  In the example above 10 gold coins are in a belt pouch and 1000 silver coins are in saddle bags.  I have used an asterisk to indicate the silver coins are not part of this characters Encumbrance because they are carried by a horse.  I have added a second row to copper pieces to show what is carries and what is in the horses saddle bags.
So this character has 110 Encumbrance in coins.  The Weapons and Armour and Equipment Encumbrance values would be added from the relevant tables which I will detail in my next post.
Characters with large amounts of coins that create an Encumbrance issue could consider buying gems or jewelry or taking your share of treasure in gems or jewelry etc

The Anatomy of Character Sheets

Some recent upgrades for all character sheets:

All sheets now have a clickable Initiative link.

All characters should now also have clickable weapon attack and damage links.  Fighters with specialization have a separate link for dual attacks every second round.
Daggers and Hand Axes etc have links for melee or thrown attacks (not broken down by range, players should be stating the range in their posts)

Clerics now have clickable Turning Tables and also Cure Light Wounds spell.

Most Class abilities have been added as well, though I still have to do Rangers Tracking skills.

I have found when using these links with NPCs that it is easiest to keep the character sheet op and right clicking on the links to open new tabs for dice rolls, it's faster than having to reload the character sheet each time, but what ever works for you :)

The Anatomy of Character Sheets

Encumbrance Explanation = How Much Loot Can You Carry?

First up, all coins weigh the same so when I want to test you out I might drop bags of copper or silver pieces just to make you check your encumbrance :)

On your character sheets, just underneath Finances you should see this...
Total EncumbranceFinances000= total number of all coins
Total EncumbranceWeapons & Armour000= the weight of all your armor & weapons
Total EncumbranceEquipment000= the weight of all your other equipment

This should be all straight forward as you will have boxes for those total numbers at the bottom of the respective tables.  At the very bottom of your character sheets, underneath your saving throw table you should see this...

Current EncumbranceTBA= Finances + Weapons & Armor + Equipment
-Weight AllowanceTBA= I have already included your STR weight allowance here
Total Encumbrance LevelTBA= subtract your weight allowance from your current encumbrance.

And at the bottom is this movement calculator, your armor will give you a basic movement value and then we apply encumbrance.  If you have any problems, mail me after you have added up all your numbers and I will look at it.  I hope this helps.

Max MoveEncumbrance & BulkArmourResult
12"350coins,no bulk
9"700coins,heavy gear/armor
6"1050coins,very heavy gear/armor
3-4"1050coins>,very heavy gear/armor

PS If anyone has a better way to do this, I am all ears :)

The Location for most containers would be 'worn' or 'belt' or 'horse' etc
Calculating for mounts is a little more involved:
Rider = total weight of the rider including armour and any other items they are carrying including weapons, backpacks etc
Saddle etc = weight of saddle, blanket, saddle bags etc
Bag contents = weight of items in saddle bags.

To carry larger volumes of loot on horseback, pairs of sacks and be tied together and balanced across a horses back.
