Intro Post

Welcome to Europe. The Europe of the future!

This game will be following the In Thy Blood-KIlling Game-Black Atlantic campaign arc.

It starts in northern Purgare (Italy).

Degenesis isn't really a world where a party meets in a tavern and decides to go adventuring. So I would like to create a group that would logically be together and travelling through this region for some reason.

Given the complexity of the world, I am going to take advice from the Internet and limit Cultures and Cults for the initial characters. So people don't get overloaded wirh detail and we have characters that don't conflict too much.

Cultures will be limited to those that border on the area -- Purgare, Balkhan, Borkha, and Franka. Your group will have started in one of them.

As far as Cults, I am going to make Palers, Anubians, Chroniclers, Jehammedans, and Anabaptists verboten at the beginning. Because those are all highly detailed and... weird. Unless you have a good reason and know them well.

Africans are fine as long as they can logically work together with the other characters (an Neolibyan with a Borkhan Scrapper that works for him would be fine, for instance).

So, any ideas for characters and a group?

Hello folks, glad to be onboard.

I haven't got a specific concept at the time, waiting for people to pop in to decide what might fit with the group itself. I do have some Cults that I'd prefer but I'm okay with most things.

We do have a Spitalian, probably, from Pollen.

I'll probably have you start out in Borca, just because that's where Justinian is, which is the big city and there are lots of different cults and people from all over there. But that's not necessary.

It would be good if someone is from Purgare, so you can speak the language... Though I will assume that everyone has mastered conversational level by the time you get there.

Re: Intro Post

I'm planning to play a Spitalian who has led an insular life and suddenly got separated from others in a dangerous situation, taking him away from the known and comfortable into the unknown, I was thinking that one of the PC's could have rescued him from his distressing separation, and so he kinda tags along like a somewhat trained puppy.

I have a concept that may fit that, waiting for judgement from GM though.

Re: Intro Post

Well, the only issue is that, with the Cults, you're generally always doing somebody's business, that of someone higher up than you. Freedom of choice is limited.

So the Spitalian wouldn't be tagging around on his own volition; he would be with the other person for some reason connected with Spital business.

You're both being sent to northern Purgare for some reason connected with that.

Re: Intro Post

Me and GM have been talking and I have a suggestion for our characters being in Purgare to link us to the plot.

I've asked to play an Anubian, an African cult, who at this point in time of the game are allies to the Spitalians in Tripol, in Africa. However, they are not unheard of in Europe, and the idea I had to link myself to your Spitalian, was that possibly when being sent to another place to serve the Spital interest. On the way out of Purgare, you and your patrol of Spitalians were waylaid by beasts and you were the only survivor, and I happened to be nearby, enough to be able to step in and help you out.

After that ordeal, as a sign of goodwill and friendship between cults, my character decided to care for you and join you on your journey, to safekeep you on your way. We've reached Purgare, and we're on our way to pass through a certain city, where our adventure will begin.

How does that sound?

Hey All. So far, I know that I am Sofia Caspari who is Hellvetica from Purgare. I'm now figuring out the rest.

And now we have four, so I am closing my invitation to others.

SO feel free to discuss what kind of group you want.

Re: Intro Post

Howdy all, evileeyore here (as I'm known on the wider boards).

I'm leaning in on playing a Hellvetic as well (named Rdetra), so Bryan let's compare notes so I can avoid stepping on your toes.

We have a doctor/scientist (Spitalian), a mystic (Anubian), and a pair of soldiers (Hellvetic)...  it's not a bad group as long as one (or more) of us can handle (or share) social roles.

Re: Intro Post

There's no reason that Bryan couldn't take something else. I just suggested Hellvetic to him since he's new to the universe and they are relatively simple.

As I mentioned in PM, we could also both be assigned to guard the Spitalin and the Anubain on their mission.  It's all in territory "near" Hellvetica, so our superiors might want a pair of eyes watching out for/on our Spitalian ally and the guy from very far away.

Hah, yes.  Exactly why I latched on to them.  Don't have to figure out how their flavor of religion* works after only a few read throughs, just have to be a good soldier.

* Aside from their almost 'machine cult' like religious feelings about the Trailblazer (their rifle) and Harness (armored 'enviro' suit).

Re: Intro Post

Hey, I'm the last member of the party.

I'm thinking of the following characters...

*A charisma-focused Purgare character: either a sycophantic, low-power Romano or a more sinister Apocalyptic. A social/stealth build.

* A Viovodilues clan trader, just arrived with a caravan from Balkan. A combat/social hybrid.

The Purgare might be a good fit since they could be a local guide, hired to the party for the last few days or weeks.

Someone who would logically be going along with a Spitalian for some reason. The Anubian works; the Hellvetics work as bodyguards.

Maybe the Purgare guy is part of whatever Purgan faction that the group is going to have dealings with. Maybe the group is on their way south to Roma.

Do we have a fixed starting town or village?

I think I'll go with a Pugare Apocalyptic. As a Woodpecker the character can fill the party's stealth and social roles.

You'll be starting upon entering Pugare, from the Hellvetic tunnels, probably.

Well, the problem is why an Apocalyptic would be accompanying a Spitalian. They're almost mortal enemies. Like I said, the Degenesis universe isn't really a place where people meet in a tavern and go adventuring -- the Cults pretty much define them.

With some creativity, though, we can do it.

Or, how about being a Romani Clanner? You can fill the same role, without the criminal and "we spread the mortal plague that the Spitalians are trying to stamp out" baggage.
