Re: Penny Arcade (OOC Discussion)

6) If I wanted to buy a real bike, can I trade in the CityScooter for some cash/a discount? It's, ahem, only a wee bit scratched. And totally not hot.

7) Are any weapons actually concealable, tanto aside? "Jacket" doesn't really sound all that stealthy to me...

Re: Penny Arcade (OOC Discussion)

The concealability of the weapons in CP is fairly vague.  The way I look at it, if the weapon is (for example) "J" and you are not wearing a jacket, coat, or really baggy pants or voluminous skirts, or something, then you can't hide.  Having enough clothes to hide it you can roll an appropriate skill (Thief Stuff) and the result is the difficulty for someone to Notice (Awareness).

Yeah, you can sell the scooter.  You'll get a lot more for it if you sell as Valeriya Merch, of course.  But that is not something she can do herself without attracting attention.  Now if she autographs it with a sharpie and Jai works his connections...

Considering the usual resale value of vehicles in the US you'd be lucky to get 1/5 the purchase price on a standard trade in.

Re: Penny Arcade (OOC Discussion)

I assume like the book we're getting a grand from the dude who hasn't blown up the Net yet?

More importantly, while I certainly made the item choice with some funny business in mind, I understand completely that getting anything that comes out of an autofac for free 75% of the time is complete BS both in terms of game balance and logistics. So with that in the mind, some possible caveats or abstractions to smooth out the process-

A) There's some price threshold past which the item is actually kept in stock rather than fully printed with no worker input.

B) There's some kind of alarm if the 25% failure rate comes up that stops its use either in that store or even the mall itself.

C) Maybe due to time constraints everyone only gets one use of it

D) Maybe instead of actually going through the process, we just apply some kind of broad discount to non-Za purchases so there's not weird imbalances like one person getting a $800 item or someone not getting anything because of the failure rate.

As long as Jai gets narrative credit for coming in clutch, I don't really care how it's handled.

Re: Penny Arcade (OOC Discussion)

My read on the autofactory key is not that it pops out a free item 75% of the time.  That key activates the autofactory, giving you access to then program or manipulate it.  The Boost skills says operating the autofactory without tripping the production counter is a Difficult task.  That is getting something for free.  So you go an autofactory, your key has a 75% chance of giving you access.  Then you get it to produce what you want, and roll Boost.  If you meat or exceed TN20, the autofac doesn't record it and there is no charge.

Also, a good number of items will be kept in stock because some people don't like to wait.  To get the full variety of colors, styles, sizes however you have to wait for the autofac.

Generally, expect to pay the list price for everything unless Jai wants to RP a specific Boost.

Finally, this may sound heretical, but Forget about Rache. Doesn't exist in my game, one of the worst things about the R.Tal setting.  Blech.

Off topic, but doulkiller is my least favorite thing. It's a singularity level tech that breaks the setting if you think about it for 5 seconds.

Re: Penny Arcade (OOC Discussion)

Stuff that would be cool to nick

So we can't get armorjacks but other items are an option?

Bikes are the obvious high value solution. I mean, if you can print even a basic city bike, that's a huge advantage for us. Of course, that's probably out of the realm of possibility: it's probably too large to be produced solely with an autofac. I'd bet that has to be assembled.

If you hack the sports place, smart boards for everyone might be cool along with the mag grapple for "skitching". The Aero boards are amazing but they sure feel like deathtraps to me. Roadrashers make decent armor: it's better than nothing.

If we could get one item, I think that appliance cube would be incredibly useful. Alternatively, making everyone a nylon carrybag, tent, sleeping bag and foam matress is good, as would be clothing, since we'll all need that stuff.

I just read the -2 EV penalty on a heavy armorjack. I'll probably change that on retrospec.. that's way too heavy!

In reply to Shin-Ji Han (msg # 247):

Where are the armored jackets?

I see the Roadrasher suit, the Hard Armor/Metal Gear, and then Armored Clothing (well, and the Wetsuit but that seems an unlikely buy).

I have an armored jacket and a helmet from the yogang, but...armored clothing would be less conspicuous probably.

Also, is Medium Armor -1EV? My copy of cybergen will be out of reach for the next few days.

Re: Penny Arcade (OOC Discussion)

Nikola would also look for a:
€150 Tomkatt Hunting Cyberbow
€150 Monograp Cybernetic Claw Grapple
€180 Average generic dress
€50  Average generic Pant
€20  Low Generic Shirt
€330 Booster gogg smart goggles
€20 Brassnuckles
€30 Tonfa
€20 Northern Faced Sleeping Bag
Total: € 950

Leaving me with € 50 that should hopefully be enough for a wig (In order to disguise along the dress) a bagpack and arrows , Hopefully we can complement the items we buy to face different situations, like nikola could lend her dress for some of the girls to sneak in / out if needed or  the string she already has to climb with the help of  the claw grapple nikola would buy. Btw  would that grapple have a shooting mechanism to reach places like buildings or so?

Re: Penny Arcade (OOC Discussion)

The 150 euro price is for a grapple gun, fires the claw grapple which has an 80% chance of latching onto something.  50 m range, 100 m tow line, like the magnagripp.

I have a question about armored clothing: can we somehow combine it with the regular clothing, so that it's posh and branded AND armored too? Or does armored clothing always look sorta generic?

Anyone else want to pool for the $500 appliance cube?
