Some ideas for Shin Ji, other than joining Eden Cabal AKA, the plot.

a) Learning stuff about the horrible stuff his father did and his family's megacorp connections

b) Finding any members of his old claat/dojo, either finding out what happened to them.

c) Facing personal challenges and becoming a badass solo.. or maybe growing up and growing out of that viewpoint.

d) General teenage shinanegans and doing kid stuff, because Shin-Ji's been a bit focused, so "loosening up" stuff with other PC's might be a good idea.

Yeah, this seems like something between Val and Vamp, though Shin-Ji can respect losing at least one of his parents to corporate violence and wanting to channel anger into something useful.

Yes, that is a good idea.  The other seem to have a good sense to stay out of this and let them have their moment.

Once that is completed we can montage back to "normal" life.  Getting home, or the nearest equivalent, some sense of how any parental figures react, and what small actions you do to keep in touch.  We will pick up the action again at the strangest of places, at least considering all that has happened: school on Monday morning.
