Looks like we have four players so we can once we are done with character creation.

Since no one has requested otherwise, I assume that everyone is playing human. As a human, you get to choose two benefits and one drawback.

Benefits

+5 modifier to any one stat.
+5 Body Points
+2 Movement
+1 Initiative
Special piece of equipment
Advantage in dealing with a specific group of people
Advantage in action checks related to one specific circumstance

Drawback

Disadvantage in dealing with a specific group /classification of people
Disadvantage in actions related to a specific circumstance (ex. claustophobia)

Re: The Starport (OOC Area)

Hi everyone. As you probably have guessed by now, Imperial command types and I don't always see eye to eye. I do my duty and my job, I just don't always do things by the book. I tend to be a bit of a risk taker and enjoy my free time and shore leave a little too much.

I have been flying these subsectors for some time now. For a while I was a personal pilot for a Imp Diplomat travelling to the Aslan Heirate. I've never been anywhere near the Glorious Empire, and from what I hear, I have no desire to go.

Overall, a seem to be carefree and devil may care, not dedicated to my career or the will of the Imperium. However I am helpful, friendly and try to do the right thing to help the people living in the Trojan Reaches.

Is it possible that any of us have worked together before? Or perhaps we met in a more social environment?

Re: The Starport (OOC Area)

Daphne was born on Mora, the "gateway of the Spinward Marches". A gifted child from a middle-class family, she never considered a military career. In fact, she was studying Medicine, specializing in nanosurgery, and all her teachers agreed she would one day be a top cybersurgeon.

All changed the day she was approached by the good of a local warlord called Garuda. She was asked to install some illegal implants on said boss, in no uncertain terms. Garuda was not the kind of man who accepts a no for an answer, so she had to comply. The surgery was sabotaged by Garuda's second in command who wanted his position, but Garuda survived anyway and blamed Daphne for his near-death. Daphne narrowly escaped Garuda's death squad and enrolled in the Imperial Navy as a desperate way of escaping his revenge.

At the Naval Academy, Daphne discovered she had potential as an officer, and so did her teachers. Reluctantly at first and with more enthusiasm later, she embraced this new life and recently graduated as a lieutenant. Right after graduation she volunteered for a peacekeeping mission to the Trojan Reach, to put as many lightyears as possible between Garuda and herself. Sometimes she still misses her lost life as a surgeon, but the Navy is her new life.

I have no idea. I think we have a (potential) fifth player, but no idea of what their role is. I also don't know if Comms would fall under some of the skills we already have, perhaps it's Helmsman?

Unrelated, @Gamemaster: how does Command work exactly? Should I roll now to see what the adequate course of action would be, or do I decide that *and then* roll Command to see how well it goes?

Re: The Starport (OOC Area)

Sharship Targeting

You would use your ships targeting stat, modified by your soldier skill. Or in this case 50 + 0. = 50% in this case, since the target is not trying to evade, you will have advantage. This means that when you roll the dice, you can choose which is the tens die and which is the ones.

Multiple actions

A character may take multiple actions per turn. Each action after the first suffers a cumlative -20 modifier. So if Blent fires three times, the first shot is at 50%, the second is at 30% and the third is at 10%. This can also be used in combat to make an attack and then dodge in the same round.

Destiny Points

Every Character has something called Destiny points. Most characters have one, some have more. Destiny points can be used to improve or decrease the results of an action check or be used to increase damage (stated before rolling damage)

By the way, who's manning the sensors? I'm asking for an IR scan of the two ships to see if there's something alive in there, but not sure who has to roll.

Someone please roll me that, before we start shooting a dead ship. I bet an intact Aslan ship is worth more to the Navy than a bundle of scrap metal.

On re-reading, I'm realizing I didn't really explain myself very well there. What I meant is, can someone roll for the IR scans Daphne asked for? I am guessing it is either Helmsman or Engineer, with Intelligence (if we consider it is about using tech to run that scan) or Perception (if we consider that the scan is run, and then it is up to the human operator to make sense of the readings).

But those are just my 2 cents, I might be totally wrong.

Unless you have 15+ on Helmsman or Engineering, I suppose? And you don't :P since the most we have right now is 0 (as in, non-negative).

Now, if I'm reading the manual right, you can spend 1 point of Destiny to upgrade your result by 1 degree: bump critical failure to normal failure, normal failure to success, or success to critical success. I don't know how many Destiny point you have (I have 2) or how/when do they refresh, but I don't think it's such a crucial moment that we should be spending them yet.

Unless we think we'll be refreshing them soon-ish, in which case why the hell not use them, I suppose. But this is guesswork.

When there is a chance, could we have a list of what we have  in way of equipment  in the ship's locker, or otherwise.

It's not urgent, but I would like to know this, plus who else is in the ship (sailors, Marines, other flunkies) besides us player characters, that I can boss around count on.

Re: The Starport (OOC Area)

Basic equipment can be found in the ship's locker including vacc suits, small arms, ammo, basic tools, etc. If you need anything exotic or out of the ordinary, ask and I will let you know.

The ship can be crewed by as few as one person, with two or more being optimal. At this point, the PCs are the only crew, but that may change as the campaign progresses. Think more Firefly sized as opposed to Enterprise.

The ships you are facing as slightly larger, each capable of supporting a dozen or so crew.

Excellent roll for command. Not so excellent roll for evasion.

As a bonus due to the command roll, any hit on the targeted ship will be treated as automatically targeting the system of your choice. (ie jump drive, maneuvering thrusters, weapon system, shields, life support, comms, navigation, etc)

F**k up their weapons system first, I say, we can deal with the rest later, knowing they can't retaliate.
