Hi hi :) This is an interesting system, I think I've gotten enough of a handle on it to get my character going at least. Lefty will be the resident sneaky from the looks of things.

The best parts of the system, are it seems easy to run, and we're all learning together.  That means there'll be more acceptance when a mistake is made.

Are so it is Arcana and Blackwell the world has to thank for Hindsight being well Hindsight.

Hindsight has some Psychic abilities and I think his nature would appeal to both of you.

I also worked out if Blackwell and Andrew where to become close friends their conversation would be surreal and impossible for anybody else to follow.

So, all eyes turn curiously to Comet Girl, or at least mine do ;)

Out of curiosity, what kind of introduction is planned for the game? Just wondering if a rolling intro would make sense, like if everyone is arriving on a campus, since it seems like some folks are ready. No rush if that's not how you want to do it though GM, I'm just looking forward to starting :)

Hopefully it's OK if I post at this point? I was thinking Arcana would be next but maybe she's waiting for other people to keep going :)

Yes

Yeah. Don't worry about posting order unless there is something important going on. And even then it shouldn't matter if you careful about not moving the plot forward.

I'm just letting you all get a little associated with each other before I have Heritage come on scene.

Is Heritage in costume right now, or civvies?

I see we have lost our first hero.
I have played on this sight for over 15 years and have worked out that most games lose 1/3 of starting players before the end of first major seen.

If players survive to end of the second seen them most stay with the game for year or two at least.

Always sad to lose a player.

Oh, bummer, so we did. Did she say anything or just get dropped for inactivity? Not that I would be criticizing that considering she was logging in every day and never posting...

One of the best games I ever played in was a system like this one.
We ended up with only 3 hero for most of the game but it worked.

It also the game I manage to overcome a villainess that was dominatrix and power set to go with that with a cute hologram of a kitten.

I don't think I've played in a system like this one before, I like the character creation at least :) Usually for this kind of game I see either super crunchy or just freeform.

She just said she wasn't a good fit for the game.

Let's hope everyone else sticks around ^^' Not trying to point fingers at anyone else, just in my experience the turnover in "powered school" games is insane.

I've put out one feeler towards someone who applied after the game was full, but otherwise we 5 ride together.

I've sent a notice to someone else that wanted in.  I'm giving them a couple days to respond.  If they haven't responded by Tuesday, I'll continue the game without them.

Sorry Comet Girl, mind not blown.  This is sort of what I based Hindsight's power on.
But a more accurate way of looking at it is multi-verse picture.  Which Hindsight can sees across into other options.

Hindsight nature in this multi-verse limits the option he sees (but he can see beyond them if he tries).
Also the closer he is looking at an event is to his present point the clearer he sees things.  So the more he can effect what happening.

Or to put it another way.  This is said with great deal of fun (and British sense of humor).
Hindsight is straight.  He knows that by taking a set of actions he will end up marrying one of you girls.  Hindsight is a romantic.  Depending on the actions will depend on witch girl but it's not 100%.  Other things or people could get in the way.  In at least one option he will get to marry all three of you!!!  However this may not be the best option to take for many reasons.
Also by telling you "girls" this he will lessen the chance of him marrying any of you,  and most likely his player posting this will have the same effect just to prove me (the player) wrong.

Such is the nature of Time.  Such is the problem of trying to double guess it.

But it is great that you as a player spotted where I was going with this and it will make my life easier as a player. :)

The all of time thing isn't about alternate realities. All of space and time were created at the beginning, whether you say Big Bang and I say God stepping forth and saying "Let there be light" is irrelevant. All of time exists now, just like all of space exists now. We perceive time in one direction most likely because of Entropy. However the future is affecting the past and vice versa. The video from Space Time (I think it is from them, might be Physics Girl) makes this somewhat understandable even if it is counter intuitive.

We had a fire at my apartment building, mine wasn't affected, but I've still been moved out for investigation purposes.  I'm at a hotel with crappy internet, so my posting will probably be slow and sporadic.

Just to check, does Legion have some kind of super-hearing, or am I missing a reason Lefty would hear the violin music as well? :)

I assumed since there are barely anybody right now and buildings being in reasonable distance with each other, it would be silent enough to hear her. When I had stayed in dorms for summer internship in campus, I used to listen to this person playing their violin 2 buildings away easily.

But Legion also has alertness d6, so you can interpret it however you want.

I’ll be playing the role of Mason Justice, aka Aegis, the great-great grandson of a World War 2 superhero the American Aegis who fought beside Legacy, Bunker, and others back then. His powers are genetic, a result of the experiments that gave James (his ancestor) his abilities. He’s very much my idea of a Cap in the Sentinel’s universe, as you’ll likely see as the game goes on. Look forward to playing with all of you. I’ll catch up on the thread and dive in soon.

Haha, and here I was afraid of the villains we might fight. Nope, it’s the high school hijinks that are gonna kill Aegis.

Sounds like an interesting character, man. I think he and Mason could get along, as Mason is set on a serious future. He’s studied heroes and villains and their battles and understands the future that likely awaits them.

Man, digging into chargen, it’s so good. The GYRO power abilities are so fun, you can really build so much. Like with my shield I’ve got area affect for that classic shield throw bounce around, as well as in Red, Full Defense, when Mason’s gotta hold a point while another character does something. Throw Minion, I can imagine either like a Judo throw or close range bouncing the shield into a minion to knock him into one behind as it quickly rebounds back to him.

And that’s one character, and it feels customized to how I see myself playing him.

For my customized Quality I went full homage to Cap with “I Can Do This All Day”.      : D

At first I thought, ah not sure how this going to work but I can see Mason and Andrew being good friends.

I totally forgot.  In most of the games I am in on this site they are fantasy based so this does not happen often.  This reminds me of my university days.  I had a few friend that from different countries including Americans.

Just to ask a rule question in the long term.

I know at the end of chapter or what ever it called you can change or adjust your dice and skills.  Move them around or swap things out.

But can you earn enough from your actions to simply increase one of your dice from say a d8 to  d10 (not swapping dice over or effecting other abilities).

I am just interested in how the system works.

Oh and I an enjoying this game a lot so it is good to know your still around and active Reader :)

Oops, I was trying to send a PL to Legion in my last post but somehow it got addressed to the GM, I guess that's why they posted that note XD I was just saying sorry if it sounded like I'd been ignoring his message as I got mixed up about when the scene was going to change.

As I understand it, the dice never increases.

That is what I thought.

Personally I would have gone for making starting characters (2xd10) (4xd8) (3xd6).
The current being (3xd10) and (6xd8) for most builds.
Then have the characters awarded 1-3 dice points at the end of most major story lines.
You then need a number of dice points equal to the new dice level to level the dice up for that ability.  This then resets once a dice had been leveled.  So it would cost you 18 points to get a dice from d6 to a d10.
I would make the max set (2d12 3dx10 4d8).  This would create a slow but clear progression and development in powers.

However that just my thoughts.  Don't worry, I love my character and hope for many hours of rp in this game.

I'm sorry to lose you Comet Girl.  I was just trying to allow for the RP to flow freely between you all, since you all went on for a good while.  Plus it makes sense for Heritage to watch you play since they do wnt you to gel into a group.

That's too bad. It makes sense to leave players to their own devices, although I do think we were ready some time before the GM acted again. Then again I thought part of that delay was because the GM was waiting on Comet Girl, so maybe some wires got crossed there?

Yeah, um, honestly I'm in kind of the same boat at this point. It's just been so long since I was a part of this game that I don't really feel like I can actually join back in, and it's so slow moving I don't know that I want to reinvest in it enough to catch up on what's going on at this point.

As joining back in, I don't see an issue.  You character has brooding background tone to it that allows her to slip in and out as she please.

She sort of always there and also not at same time.  Somehow if not physically there she is always listening and watching.

Sure, that's fine. Sorry to hear you're feeling disheartened, RPOL attrition is wild though, you shouldn't take it personally :) I run a game with some similarities to this one and I think my long-term turnover rate is getting to be something like 90%, even though the game is still ambling along nicely.

Speaking of attrition, did you move Blackwell and Comet Girl to your control as GMPCs or something? Just wondering why they're still on the roster at this point.

Just to let you know, I'm not forgetting you, I'm just trying to adjust going forward without the two that left.

If the folks in charge want to keep the student bonding going, they could turn us loose with a specific instruction to do something together, in which case we could use Legion's patisserie idea or Aegis's rave idea.

Or, if they want students to feel "invested" as heroes early on, they could throw us into some kind of team activity. Aegis's danger room idea would work for that, as would something like a combat exercise against, say, some of Unity's robots, assuming she's on the staff here :) We could even have a spar against the NPC student team.

Are you currently running a game like that Aegis? I'm always on the lookout for more powered school games ;)

Haha, not at the moment. I’m currently running a mystical focused (just by the PCs that joined) Avengers type game using published Sentinels adventures.

Although I’m considering a Sentinels game set in the Marvel Universe at some point, which could definitely be Avengers Academy or Xavier’s School for the Gifted type. I wanted to learn the system and get villain/minion/environment/scene creation down mechanically before I ventured into heavy home brewed stuff.

Hi.  I think this game system and web site take a little getting use to.

Games flow then stop and flow again.

As for Edi, as a player I found her little hard to deal with.  The up shot is Lefty (the character) seems to think Hindsight is rude.  But me and Andrew can live with that.

However Andrews odd behaviour fits with one of his PRiNCiPLE.  So it works.
Just to say I am enjoying the game and have no issues myself.

Sorry, about this delay, I have family visiting and quite busy with that.

Gee, it's gotten very quiet :( Hopefully it's just a long hiatus. Out of curiosity though, does anyone play in any other good powered school games? I had another one shut down recently and I'd like to play in more.

I'm sorry, the play by post spark seems to have left.  I'm trying to get it back, but right now all that I'm able to focus on game wise are my voice based games.

I hope to have this taken care of pretty quickly, I don't know if it's a spot of depression or what, but I'll keep you all posted.
