Location: Arlington Antiques

Arlington Antiques is... was... a quaint antique store nestled down into a nook between two large office buildings. However, there is not much left of the once warm and homely business. Now, there is only a broken building with piles of rubble. The front windows of the store are completely blown out, glass scattered upon the sidewalk and street. Bits of furniture lay strewn about, dotting the area with wooden chair legs, a half a table, the sad top of what was probably a very expensive grandfather clock.

The scene inside of the store is one of destruction. Dolls line one wall, their bodies shattered and crushed. Books lay open, pages torn and flapping in the breeze. An old bicycle lay half in and half out of one window, its frame slightly bend. All over the place are relics of times long past, each broken and twisted by the force that destroyed the shop.

Dalion arrives breathing fast, that jog from his home made him break a good sweat but he doesn't stop to rest and checks the area for any injured people that may need first aids.

HELLO! IS ANYBODY HURT? DOES ANYBODY NEED HELP? he screamed over and over again, stopping only to listen if there were any answers.

There are far more emergency vehicles present here, the scene illuminated by strobing lights as well as regular spotlights. Uniformed humans are pushing people back to a safe distance, while firefighters are unfurling hoses ...

"Help! Over here!" comes a weak call from somewhere in the debris. A hand battered rises from behind a chunk of fallen wall, just barely visible.

----

A young woman dressed in a police uniform brushes past Ryan's shoulder, muttering an 'excuse me' as she does so, probably from ingrained habit. Dark hair in pulled back in a practical ponytail, adorned only by a tiny, green crystal in the tie. She pauses and looks at the scene, eyes sweeping over the debris. A hand reaches up to briefly cover her mouth, distress clear in her stance.

"Oh, no... Abe," she says softly. Seeming to truly notice Ryan for the first time, she turns and says, "Sir, I'm going to need you to stay back, please. We don't know what's happened and we don't need you injured or in our way."

[Pearl enters from Barnes & Noble]

Pearl arrived from the nearby bookstore at a run, though she didn't seem winded as she drew closer - perhaps understandably given her status. Oh great, this nut again, was her first thought when she saw Dalion again, but she supposed she couldn't fault someone for being drawn to the scene of an explosion when she was doing the same thing.

She drew closer to the destroyed building, wondering what had happened here, then did something odd: she tilted her head upwards and began sniffing the air. She had a very sharp sense of smell, especially for blood, and perhaps she could help determine if there was anyone in distress that the others here would overlook.

Moving carefully over the debris George hears the Screaming man. Heading over to him, he puts a hand on the distressed guys shoulder to try and calm him a little, and asks.

"Is there some poor bastard in there?"

Dalion reacted by turning around and quickly hugging the unknown guy with one arm, passing his arm over his shoulder and getting his face quite close to him with his eyes wide open. "I CAN'T see dead people..." he said softly, almost whispering.

After hearing someone crying for help Dalion turned in the direction of the screams "looks like there's somebody in trouble, do you want to help? I'm sure It'll be fun" he said as he rushed towards the place he heard the screams coming from.

He approached the hand that was sticking out of the ruble, it reminded him of a prank item that he saw on Halloween, a bowl for candy that had a hand sticking out of it, the hand had a sensor that made the hand move suddenly, scaring anyone that tries to get candy from the bowl.
Dalion grabbed delicately one of the hand's fingers with his index and thumb and pulled gently a couple of times. "Are you still alive? do you feel that? can you move at all? are you bleeding?" he asked.

Not waiting for an answer he screamed out loud for anyone to listen: "HEY! LET'S GET HIM OUT OF HERE!"

Ryan nodded and backed up, but the officer's presence was reassuring. She appeared to be human, and not like the Proctors or the Hunters.

A moment later, he hears a shout of, "HEY! LET'S GET HIM OUT OF HERE!"

He is able to make out one or two figures inside the collapsed building. As the officer continues moving the crowd back, Ryan takes the opportunity to slip around her and make his way to those inside.

One of them, he'd seen before - the man who tried lifting Pearl's hat.

"Didn't get your name, earlier," he says to him. "I'm Ryan."

He looks down at the rubble and the person trapped beneath.

"It'll be okay," he reassured them. "We're here. We'll get you out."

The trapped person grasped at Dalion's hand, and a ragged male voice, obviously in pain, answered, "I'm here! Thank god... I'm here. I can't... I can't move. My legs are trapped. I can't feel my legs!"

The area where the man is trapped in between the antique's store and one of the office buildings, where part of the wall had fallen into an awkward pile that partially blocked the view from the front. Not only was there large chunks of bricks piled atop this unfortunate soul, there were also the remains of sturdy shelving and what was once probably a very nice, and very, very heavy wardrobe.

Ryan looks frustrated. There's no way to dig the man out; more of the building could collapse upon all of them at any moment, and the smoke from the fire is already making him cough.
   That would leave ... magic.
Dare he risk it? Moving that much debris would take more than a modicum of magick, far more than simply keeping someone from falling over.

"I don't think we have time to dig him out," Ryan says. "Any ideas?"

"Dalion is the name, and helping people is the game... at least right now". He answered although he did not recognize him due to the excitement of the situation. Dalion searched for something to use as a lever against the heavy wardrobe, he picked up a twisted steel rod that was laying around in the ruble, then he placed it in a way that would help lever away some of the weight of the wardrobe from the buried guy. "Okay, I need someone to help me here and someone to drag the undertaken guy out of the rubble. Solstice!" -he recognized the black-clad fae man "Do you have some type of magic that can make things lighter or something that helps lift up things? you know, like Tinkerbell from Peterpan? Dealing with an insane person really wasn't something she needed when she was trying to assist with a search and rescue. But she wasn't sensing anyone else in immediate need of help, so she mentally resigned herself and headed over to the gathering group. "I can grab the guy out," she said as she approached.

Startled at the distraught mans reaction and words of dead people, George almost snarls, but contains the wolf enough to follow him into the rubble. Odd...but who is he to question.

Realizing quickly that people are trying to get someone out, and the debris is hampering efforts, he stops trying to hold off the nights coming change. Pulling up his jacket collar to obscure his roughening features, he allows the rising moon to start remaking him.

Under loose coat, flesh starts to move, and hair lengthens. Skin itching, George moves forward into the small crowd.

"I got the heavy shit." Glancing toward the voice talking about pushing rubble.  " ..Do that..push shit away..then someone get him out."
His voice is rougher and deeper than before, as he puts his back against the shelving and braces against it.

"Hurry."

As George and Dalion work to physically lift and pry the rubble off of this unfortunate soul, Solstice and Ryan apply their magic. The fae carefully forms a shield as best he can under the stone and bricks, which Ryan works to lessen the load for everyone. There is a rather distressing sound of scraping and shifting as the debris slides and moves, but between all of them, they are able to free the man.

Pearl reaches in and, as carefully and quickly as she can, pulls the man from underneath the small cave that has been formed by their efforts. He cries out pain at being dragged, but there's no avoiding it. The others can't hold that mass up forever and he needs to be out where he can be treated.

The man is dressed in what was probably a nice business suit, earlier today. But, now, it is stained with dirt and torn. His breathing comes in ragged gasps, but he still manages to smile around his pain, "Thank you! Thank you..." He's still in pain, but there is no mistaking his relief at having been found and freed.

"Right," Pearl replied to Solstice. Not that she knew him or his capabilities at all, but he sounded confident in himself, whereas Pearl's medical knowledge was limited to treating cooking hazards like cuts and burns. She looked around to make sure they were well clear of, say, the falling radius of a collapsing building, then set the injured man down in the nearest spot where he wouldn't be lying on something uncomfortable.

After that, she straightened back up and looked around. "Whew. Good work, everyone." It was nice to know that strangers could come together and accomplish something like that.

While Solstice was able to stop the bleeding, he found that the magic just wasn't flowing as it should. Flustered, he took a moment to draw back into himself and try to refocus, but it was no use. His nerves were jangled and thrumming. It was just too much. There were so many people and this place was so new... and now, this? An emergency before he had even had much time to settle? His wings twitched in frustration as he tried, again to draw upon the magic.

Dr. Orrus laid a calming hand upon Solstice's shoulder, "It's okay. Look. The EMTs are coming. You stopped the bleeding, which was the most important thing. They'll be able to take care of the rest. You did well."

Sure enough, someone had finally spotted the rescuers and their injured, and now EMTs were arriving. A burly, dark-skinned paramedic knelt beside the man. His voice was polite but clipped with urgency as he said, "Thank you all for your help, but we've got him, now." And, with that, all attention was turned to the injured, the others forgotten unless they got in the way of the EMTs doing their job.

Her sense of smell was a similar sort of "gift," and when she smelled Dalion circling back she managed a half-step away. He still got her with the periphery of the hug, but she didn't trust him not to attack her hat again now that the emergency was past.

She watched the awkwardness unfold between the others as she got out of the way of the EMTs, then spoke up when she was addressed again. "Pearl, nice to meet you George," she replied. She was momentarily distracted by an incoming text, and she pulled her phone out to find Potts was reporting no serious issues at the restaurant. That was good, at least. However, he was looking for something more specific, something that seemed different or out of place among the usual background hum.

And... there it was. Somewhere inside the wreckage of the shop, was the weakening thrum of psychopomp, unsurprisingly wrapped in a layer of evocation, like some weird magical pig-in-a-blanket. It left a feeling in his mind like wind and smoke, freedom and fire. But, it was fading quickly.

Re: Location: Arlington Antiques

Dalion was surprised, but the difference in weight between him and Soltice prevented him from falling over. He looked at the dark figure and laughed. "Hahahahahaha now that's interesting! I'm glad to see you have some fire in you, figuratively and literally". but after taking a look around him he changed his tone. "Hey! be careful about how much you twinkle little star, you might hurt others around us unintentionally!". He was referring to the paramedics surrounding them and the wounded man, as Dalion made clear by pointing at them with his thumb.

Dalion tilted his head sideways in the direction of the wounded man, still in his grip, while looking directly at Solstice eyes and said again: "give me a name".

Solstice flared his wings out to look bigger. "Let the man go!" He ordered. He didn't know what this idiot was playing at but he was going to stop it now. The mention of hurting others gave him pause, and his aura toned down a bit, but he was still angry.

Waiting to see what the fae finds out, George goes to ask Pearl a question.
"So..Dinner was interrupted. Maybe we should all go somewhere and ea..What the Hell?"

The weird homeless guy has suddenly started trouble with the victim....then,..

"Well..Would you look at that!"
Eyes wide at the Anger and Power the small fae is producing, he asides to Pearl. "Think we should do something, or just watch the fun?"

"What we did, although I don't know about before," Pearl clarified to George. "For all I know, it was an old land mine - didn't that happen on that pawn show?" Pearl had watched a few episodes before realizing that her standard of "treasure" and that of the History Channel were pretty different.

Her expression turned angry along with Solstice's when Dalion unexpectedly began rattling their recent rescue. So much for him turning over a new leaf. "Do something," she answered George briefly as she moved to defend the man as well. "This guy tried to rob and assault me earlier, I was just meeting the cops about it when this happened. Yo! Police!" She waved her hands over her head to get the attention of any nearby officers, assuming they weren't already interceding.

Now the weird guy is a thief as well as crazy. Best go try help, before someone gets hurt...more hurt.

George follows Pearl, rolling his shoulders to loosen up the flesh still reforming under clothes. getting ready to grab and subdue the strange man if he starts getting violent.

"Michael" the guy muttered before the paramedics started to force Dalion away from him. "what the fuck is your problem!? Officers come! help!" they yelled.

"Michael... got it". Dalion stood still after the paramedics pushed him away, looking with a sad expression how the paramedics hurried up to get away from him.

He then looked at Solstice and the others who were getting ready to surround him, then he looked at them with a dead-serious look in his eyes and asked them in a dead-serious tone: "Do any of you have crabs?".

Ready for more trouble, the question of crabs puts George on a back foot.

"Crabs? What? No! Why?"
He looks incredulous at the man.

"What is your damage buddy? Is it drugs or what"

Then rubbing his head he mutters to himself. "nah..cool down. Hes just a nutjob."

As Dalion elicits an angry response from the fae, Ryan takes a step back. He wants no part of this, and his fear of the Proctors reasserts itself.

He looks from side to side, seeking a mirror, but initially sees only those mounted on the sides of automobiles. It's ironic that the antique shop, which would have had what he sought, was a pile of debris.
   There.
A reflection in the window of an adjacent store. It wasn't ideal, but it would have to do.
Ryan strode towards it, ripping open a path with a curt gesture. He steps into the reflected image and disappears.

As the paramedics lift the injured man and begin quickly making their way off the scene and to an ambulance, two officers coming striding towards the group. One officer stops to speak with a rightfully irritated paramedic while the other continues towards the alley where the group is still gathered. Everyone can see the paramedic shaking his head and looking towards Dalion as he speaks, obviously telling of how the man interfered with their work.

"Okay folks. Before you tell me what the problem is, here, lets move away from the scene. Firefighters need to get in here and you don't need to be in the way. Let's move it," the officer's tone brooks no argument. He stands to the side and gestures with his hand, indicating that they should move back to safety behind the emergency personnel.

Watching the cops, and their displeasure, George feels a twinge of pity for the homeless guy. Crazy or not, he was instrumental in rescuing the guy on the stretcher.

He grabs Dalions upper arm, hoping for no more outbursts that might get the guy arrested, and attempts to pull him along and away from trouble. **

One good turn deserves another. Even if he is some sort of thief.
"Just shut up, or you'll be eating prison food tomorrow morning."

The threatening flames disappearing, George sees Solstice step away, nervous looking again. Unlike just before. The mention of more police and people shutting down that burst of anger for some reason. Definitely not prey though. Even if he acts like it.
"Bloody full moon. Stop thinking dinner.." He mutters to himself. Stupid no steak. Shacking his head to try and forget food, and back to the matters at paw.

Power or not though..the faerie looks like he doesnt want to be around here anymore. Waving over at him, George calls out.

Yep. Food. Definitely need to eat something soon.

Pearl ignored Dalion's words entirely - it seemed like the safest course of action with the insane man - and went willingly with the officer guiding them away. She waited until she was given the go-ahead to speak, then said "This man here was shaking the guy and demanding his name after we just pulled out of the rubble, when he's already injured and people are trying to treat him. Furthermore, I was literally just talking to Detective Johnson about getting him arrested when this explosion went off and we had to split up. He tried to rob and assault me over at the bookstore there. Well, wait... tried to rob and actually assaulted me I guess." In all the excitement of the moment, she was getting her legal terms mixed up. She also missed Ryan's exit with her focus elsewhere. "Is Detective Johnson here? You could ask him too." [Retconned]

Re: Location: Arlington Antiques

Dalion thought nothing of George grabbing him as if he was his handler, he was mentally somewhere else. Strange things were happening one after another at an unprecedented pace in the city, it could all still be considered coincidental though, but his instincts were telling him otherwise.

"Are you thirsty? I'm thirsty" Dalio took out a couple of his water bottles, after opening one he took a big swig that emptied half of it and then offered the other one to George. "I also have some canned food if you're desperate, but something tells me you probably would rather eat red riding hood right now, which is funny because I met her a few hours ago along with Mr. flaming stick over there" - he said as he pointed at Solstice. "She was really nice, but nevermind that, what I need to know is if you have seen any giant metallic brass crabs walking around the city, one appeared close to my home right before I heard the explosion, that thing scared the shit out of Rahab you should have seen his face! hahahaha. But seriously, have you guys seen anything like that? I have never, and I suspect It wasn't a coincidence. Maybe I should ask granny over there" . And Dalion turned his head towards Pearl.

"Tell me about the crab as we go alright."
If talking about an imaginary crab gets him moving, good enough. Police incarceration was bad. Been on the end of it in other towns. Vagrancy, being were in a Nice Town, affray...

Refusing the water, he moves the guy along.

"...what? Red ri..bloody hells. No. Steak."

Steering Dalion away as fast as possible, he heads towards that restaurant where he was ordering just that only half an hour before.

Re: Location: Arlington Antiques

"Not this way" Dalion suddenly stopped George after walking a couple of streets and started to walk towards a tall wooden fence from an apparently abandoned property. After pushing up a couple of loose board he started to get in, he looked at George and said "If they somehow care more about detaining me than managing the situation over there then they will easily find us if we just walk around the streets, we have to take alternative routes, come".

Dalion started to walk around the property, the area looked like an abandoned garden with lots of wild grass, the place must have belonged to some rich family long ago, because it was quite spacious and filled with exquisite sculptures and some rare and beautiful flowers, bushes and trees, there was even a small pond with a fountain that now looked like a little swamp now, but must have been commissioned by the owner to a Japanese designer, it was clearly designed taking the guidelines of a typical japanese garden.

"Wabi-sabi. The original owner of this property died some years ago and his children started a bitter legal battle over the inheritance of many of his properties and assets, this place got neglected and the legal bickering over this place is still going on, the animals and plants are the winners here, you can probably admire the nocturnal beauty of this place much better than I can." said Dalion as he stopped in front of a flower bush and picked a couple of exotic blue flowers from the garden, as he smelled one of them flower Dalion asked George where did he want to go. "Oh the pirate place, ok it's this way" after hearing his answer he kept walking and told George that they would have to take these type of alternative routes until the risk of being detained was reasonably low, it would only take a few blocks before the perimeter they would have to cover to catch him could be considered unreasonable.

"Police have very reasonable procedures, and that's good, who would like to deal with unreasonable people all the time?".

After getting crossing the whole garden they climbed the fence on the opposite side, strangely it was made out of stone on this side, the long walk inside the porperty's garden would hint it, but being in the other side of the stone fence would confirm it, the property occupied a whole block in this side of the city, a testament of the monetary power of such family.

They walked through some more alleyways and had to climb over one more fence until Dalion felt confident enough to start walking on the sidewalks of the main street again. After a little more walking Dalion pointed towards the restaurant that George mentioned before.

"There it is! maybe we should hurry before I start looking less like a rotten pineapple and more like a juicy stake to you".

Re: Location: Arlington Antiques

George follows Dalion, with more fluid and silent movement than a human of his currant size has any right having. The guys moving, and what he says about staying off the streets is sensible. Thinking to himself that the guy is a strange mix of insanity, survivor cunning, and perhaps a strange visionary as well. Enough top drive one mad?

The wolf delights in the garden when they enter it. Slowing and breathing deep to enjoy the scents of foliage, soil, and small animals. Listening to Dalion talk about the garden, and its history, raises questions. Indicating the steak place when asked, he just keeps listening to him ramble about police procedure and the like as he follows, senses alert for pursuit.

The guy seems so much less crazy right now..rambling, sure. But, not about weird stuff.
Though the pineapple comment bites.

"I Dont eat people!...Or Pineapples" Though the walk in the garden has increased his hunger. And people do always smell tasty when he's hungry. "Its just rude." he mutters to himself.

Re: Location: Arlington Antiques

Once George shepherds Dalion off of the scene, it seems that both the police and the paramedics lose interest in him. Both of them have far more pressing matters to attend to than some random, unbalanced man. Though, the officers do scribble a note to themselves to remember to track him down, later, to question him. It may well be that the man has information to offer about what happened here.

It is with that thought in mind that the officer who asked the group to step back from the scene turns to Solstice and Dr. Orrus, "Do you mind if I ask you a few questions? It seems that you two were some of the first on the scene. Can you tell me anything about what happened, here?"

Solstice nodded in agreement. "We didn't see anything before that. Sorry..." He mumbled.

The officer nodded, "Well, I do appreciate what help you were able to give." He turns and looks towards the rubble, eyes narrowed as he squints into the smoke. "With any luck, that man will be the only one hurt. It's late enough that everyone should've left work, by now." He nods towards the office buildings to the side of now ruined antiques store.

He starts to turn away, to join his partner who has started towards the offices, presumably to do a safety check and make sure no shrapnel managed to penetrate a window, causing any injuries inside. He pauses and says, "Trained medical pros, huh? If you are interested, talk to Janice down at the fire station. One of theirs just moved to be with family on the coast, so there's an opening for a healer on board."
