Festival of Eliestria

The Festival of Eliestria is a traditional fae festival celebrating the moon and all of the mysterious magic that surrounds it. Unlike most festivals that last for a weekend, at most, this stretches over the course of an entire week. Still, considering how fae view time, a week is nothing to them!

The festival takes place in the evenings, after moonrise, and lasts until moonset in the morning. During this time, people are encouraged to partake of the various treats provided by the fae hosts. However, one must do so with caution. While there are laws in place to protect the populace from the more malevolent effects of any fae "gifts," that doesn't mean that the occasional miscreant doesn't attempt to lace food with magics or potions that will either lure a human to the other side of The Veil or just give them a really, REALLY awesomely weird trip.

Two fae families normally preside over the festivities. However, this year, tensions seem to be running high between the two and no one is really sure why. The people who do know are staying quiet in an effort to not antagonize anyone in these rather powerful, magical families. Rumors abound, though!

And, what rumors are there? Speculation is all over the place! There have been hints are a marriage rejection, that something has gone awry with one side's magic and blame is being placed on the other, that one side is dabbling in forbidden territory, that someone has died and there is a power vacuum... but who knows?

General notes about the time that players may want to take into consideration:
During this time, witches/warlocks who practice moon-related magic are more powerful. Werewolves can suffer some oddities as their internal cycle gets messed up.
