Beca Davies took a sip of her cup of coffee before turning back her attention on her notebook. The young woman was curently at a Starduck near the University of Bangor were she studied and was corecting her courses's notes.

Mindlessy she touched the amulet around her neck and her mind go back to four month ago, her possession by a spirit and subsecent travel to the Primal Wild. Beca awakening saved her from possession and a werewolf who hunted the offending spirit took her to the mages of Bangor were she was told of her news powers and took the Shadow Name of Lady Tansley, in homage to Sir Arthur Tansley, a famous bothanist.

As Tansley remenbered her first step in the supernal world, she heard a couple nearby causing commotion. From the look of it they were student like her. The female of the pair was the one who raised her voice and the male tried to calm her down. He obviously didn't succeeds as the girl shouted:

"Fine! Do what you want but don't said didn't warn you."

With that she took off. Her compagnion stared in her direction for sometimes before shruging. He took a small bottle and drinked it before leaving himself.

Nothing would have out of order excepte that the moment when he drinked his bottle, Tansley magical sens sensed a shift in the tapisery of the world.

(OOC: And we are go. I hope I nailed the inspiration for your shadow name, Arthur Tansley was the only Tansley I found and fall in your concept.)

Beca's attention snaps to the shifting symbols, her studies forgotten. As she focuses on the Primal Wild, on the hums and pulses of life and meaning echoing in her own blood, she takes out her other notebook, the smaller one filled with what most people would only see as dense, chaotic scribbles; even her fellow Awakened consider her "handwriting" to be on the stranger side.

Tansley lifted the veil of the Fallen World and focused her attention on her fellow student, listening to an song made by an insivible choir and to her more primals instincts.

Being an Thyrsus was to be in harmony with the animalistic side of oneself. A side made of impulse and base need, devoid of doubt. In appearance it was a little at counter current than the mage society who placed a big importance on the intellect. But every Thyrsus knew than buried inside the primal instincts was a wisdom far older than humanity.

And what Tansley felt was an overpowering need, a need you couldn't escape, like hunger. In a single word: Fate.

Tansley knew that she was not well equiped do study a mystery of Fate. But at the very lest she could try to discover the source of what was affecting the person she watched.

Bollocks.

Lady Tansley frowns in disappointment and expends a drop of Supernal energy to bring the rest of her knowledge to bear. At the very least she should be able to discern if this is the work of a colleague.

The sight of Tansley shifted lightly as she chaneled mana and a new facet of reality emerged.

The young mage was nearly surprised by overwhelming rush of energie she sensed and the total lack of focus. The magic inside her fellow student was powerful and more importently, wild. Too much to be the work of one the the Awakened.

That’s better.

The Thyrsus smiles as she tunes out every reverberation except those coming from her person of interest. Channeling additional mana through her body, she begins to record the resulting sensations and their meanings in real-time, her pencil flying every which way across the page seemingly at random.

Reality was dissolving as Tansley began to focus her sight on the mystery before her. Sorting through the mass of data wielded by the Supernal was a complex task, but the young mage managed to ignore everything not relevant and focus on what she wanted.

Clearly, the Spirit and Life Arcana did not give anything but Prime was more successful. Her fellow student was imbued with a supernal effect caried by the drink he took. The effect was clearly not the work of a mage or supernal creature. Tansley had heard of natural occurring supernal phenomena and in this case, imbued a source of liquid with supernal power. But often these phenomena were consequence of greater events, like a powerful spell, the present of powerful entities…

Unfortunately, it was a Fate effect, and its effect could not be known by herself. But if he could procure a sample of the drink, Transley could maybe bargain with one of her fellow mage.

Lady Tansley quickly takes a photo of the boy as he walks away, withdraws her multitool from her handbag, and waits for him to pass near a rubbish bin. Once he’s close enough she points the tool under her table with a flourish, the better to focus on the target of her behavioral nudge.

...Which she blows.

BLOODY HELL.

She starts her Imago anew, flitting her eyes back and forth between the photo and the boy and flicking her multitool extra hard this time as she strains herself out of annoyance.

Many would think that controling the behavior of someone would be the domain of the Mind Arcanum alone. But in truth, biologists knew that many behavior are the produce of the nervous system and hormones. Want someone to sleep, augment the dopanine level.

As a student of biology and of Life Arcanum, Tansley knew that perfectly and her spell targeted the conditioned behaviors. The vast majority of people are trained since their childhood to throw away trash in trash can and Tansley's spell activated this reaction.

As her target passed before a trash can, he threw his bottle without a thought and continued on his way.

Tansley slowly packs up her things, then walks over to the bin and fishes the potion bottle out of it. As she leaves the scene she promptly texts a fellow acquisitor who owes her a favor and who if she remembers right has some knowledge of the Arcanum she needs.

[Some bloke’s drink just turned into a fate potion for no reason, wanna give it a look and tell me what sorta spell?]

Five minutes after having send her message, Tansley already received an answer.

“Meet me at the Athenaea, at 9p.m.
Olethos.”

The young student remembered Olethos. He was a young cabaless Acanthus and awakened not long before herself. But this was all she knew about him. As Tansley tried to remember more about Olethos, she received a new message.

“To Lady Tansley,
Several people were recorded having a strange behaviour near Ysgol Friars secondary school. All could pass for poor impulse control, but several such case in the same vicinity are maybe the sign of spirit on the loose.
You are the only Spirit mage free for now and we want to resolve this affair before the werewolves become involved. If you accept, go to Ysgol Friats, confirm the presence or absence of a spirit, and in case of the former, neutralise it if you can, then report. You will be pay for your help.

[OOC: Saying more on the mystery will spoil the scenario I have in mind. But it is not without reasons. At first it was mainly to meet the other players and reveal the true mystery of the game, but I am forced to improvise a little.]

[What kind of strange?]

The message was joined by several files. During the last week, three break-ups had happened at Ysgol Friats. Which was not surprising for teenagers but what was stranger was their violence, the last ended with a student to the hospital. The Erasers linked two others break-ups before this period, who did not go physical but needed the intervention of the school staff.

All peoples who where questioned, especially in the last one, since the police was called, mentioned fights about small things growing way out of proportions and emotions running wild. The Erasers did think that a spirit of strife, anger or jealousy was involved.

Following the report were the names and address of everyone involved.

It’s not exactly like she’s ready to go back to worrying about Sleeper business anyway right after the pilfered beverage now in her backpack just got her all riled up.

The shaman drives to the school at issue, parks somewhere nearby that she can see it from, and gives the area on both sides of the Gauntlet a good look over.

The young mage watched the school, seeing beyond the veil of simple matter. But her gaze couldn’t find any traces of the spirit she hunted. Yet.

Waiting for a sign of her target, she let time flow until nearly thirty minutes passed. A bell ringed and students began to slowly exit their classrooms, and Tansley finally found the first sign of the invisible entity.

A female student of sixteen was exiting the school and the mage could see the supernatural link of a spirit fetter on her. And worse, the link was singing with energy, Urging the teenager. Gazing around, Tansley found the spirit nearby, on a tree, hiding in the Twilight. It had the appearance of a large vulture watching its fetter with a predatory gaze.

The spirit’s fetter stopped before a male student of the same age and began to talk to him, visibly agitated. Her state grew worse second after second and the male showed the same signs.

Lady Tansley passes the half-hour by spying across the Gauntlet, recording in her notebook in High Speech the activities of all the spirits she can see in the immediate area in the Shadow while taking frequent glances back into the material so she doesn’t potentially miss her target there.

When the fettered vulture and its victim finally do make their appearance she immediately begins to scan the Primal Wild for signs of the spirit’s influence.

As the energies of the Primal Wild revealed themselves to Tansley, the young mage could see that the spirit was indeed influencing its Fetter. From the power radiating from the spirit, the Thyrsus guessed that her target didn’t simply strengthen the emotion but manipulated them. Tansley noted another point, the local Gauntlet was at 3 on the Amarath Scale, a little under the average of Bangor.
