Ah, come on, it was a heat-of-the-moment thing. Plus you can't be sure he wasn't in fact trying to hit the Khajit, and just miserably failed.

EDIT: Kraelix, the cat used a Disengage action, you don't get an AO, unfortunately.

Also, wow, 4 damage on a 3d8, you don't see that happening every day. Lucky for poor Sabah, I guess.

From my point of view i have the high ground. There's no map, so to me it makes sense that i backed out of the room while still keeping an arrow on it. Winnk is only level 1 and has never encountered things like magical darkness, zombies, etc.

Yeah I really like my flaw that I can’t be diplomatic unless I get a wis 20 and I have an 8 wisdom.

Yeah, thought about that, 20 seems a bit harsh. Changed the DC to 12 + half level, see Character creation.

01:23, Today: Kraelix rolled 14 using 3d8.  Spirit Guardians, Wis DC 14 for 1/2.

If each target has damage rolled for them individually.  Some DMs use one roll for the full spell, others do it per triggering event.

Maybe it wasn't clear, but the darkness persists. Neither Kraelix nor Sabah can see anything at all. You might try and hit each other if you want, but it will take a Perception roll to sense the location of your opponent, and even then, all attack rolls are made at a disadvantage.

In addition, a DC 10 WIS check will let you realize that 1/ the Orsimer never actually attacked you and 2/ it's really hard to get information from the dead.

I took that to mean the darkness went away since the previous post had made the darkness appear, but Sabah said she had dodged, so I rolled my attacks with disadvantage anyway.

Kraelix doesn't have any reason not to try to defeat Sabah. A moment ago she was threatening to blow the place up, so he's either going to knock her out to question later, or kill her so she's not a threat anymore and try to catch the cat. Her buddy trying to shank her doesn't tell me she's decided not to blow the place up, she's still a threat.

13:03, Today: Kraelix rolled 17 using 1d20+6.  Wis Save DC 12 for diplomacy.
I can try diplomacy instead of killing her and going after the cat, if I have a reason to. I get the feeling the cat knows more than the orc does, though, so his info is more valuable than hers.

What are my odds of catching up with the kajit? Having her lead me to him is the only real incentive I have not to take her out so I can focus on kitty.

I could tell you to go after the cat and I’ll handle the orc???? But logically I think winnk would think the cat is too powerful and would kill us all

And I agree with not being necessarily best friends with anyone you see, especially not a bandit. On the other hand:
- you are investigators acting on someone's business, not vigilantes. I mean, you are free to act like vigilantes if that's what you want to be, but there are going to be repercussions.
- there's a difference between arresting someone and killing them.
- on a slightly metagame-ish note, this is a player character, someone you're supposed to adventure with. So... good feeling, divvine inspiration, etc.... is an option.

Winnk, you can see some of the spirits, but on the other hand, it is common knowledge that Dunmer can call upon their ancestors to protect them.

Yeah you can see them protecting me from everyone but you. It's a racial though, not a class ability.



The Spirit Guardians are going to proc as soon as its her turn, I can't do anything about that. I can take my roll for diplomacy as a sign that we should try talking to her, but all interactions with her up to this point tell me I should knock her out first, tie her up, and then heal her to bring her back when she's no longer a threat. If Sabah were to indicate she may surrender that would lower the threat level. We know she would rather blow herself up than get arrested as of about 30 seconds ago, but maybe she's had a change of heart now that the situation has evolved a bit?

I feel like we've hit a wall since... well, y'know, I was about to be assassinated. Really cut down on the 'tease the party a bit, realize they're not so bad, defect to them' plan that the DM and I we're banking on. A little on us for not RPing as much, a little on the DM for sic'ing their favorite attack-cat on us.

A solution I'm willing to propose, though it do make me a tiny bit sad in the heart, is that ya'll are free to consider Sabah a baddie and do her in - meanwhile, I simply just take these numbers I rolled for stats and make a character that isn't on the wrong side of your well-intentioned murder-boner. I knew 'being a bad guy who goes good' had risks in the RP, and I'm wholly willing to take the L here myself and keep the game a-rollin'!
