...and like a flash, they were at Fred's place.

"So, uh," he said.  "Come on in, if you want?"

"Thanks. How's the whole freelance thing been going?" Mingmei asked.

"Well, I'm not exactly getting rich," said Fred, "but I'm doing all right.  YouTube hasn't demonetized me, for one thing, and that's good."

"That's good. How have the videos with me been doing?" Mingmei asked.

"Well, you're definitely popular," said Fred.  "Those do very well.  Partially for fighting skill-- you're really spectacular there.  But, well..."

He shrugged.

"...pretty girls will get a lot of comments from certain people, no matter what."

"Yeah, that is a thing," Mingmei said. "But I'm glad it's going well. It's good my name's getting out there."

"Oh?" Fred asked.  "Got big plans?  Your own YouTube channel?  Merch?"

"No, but it's cool thinking about being a known hero," Red Fox said. "My original namesake isn't really well known outside of China."

"Nice," said Fred.  "...so, got any big plans?"

"I guess I can tell you a bit of what I'm looking into, but I don't want it showing up on Youtube yet," Mingmei said. "I've been looking into an underground fighting ring that the weird spider-guy was involved in."

"Huh," said Fred.  "...that might tie in to some weird stuff that I've seen.  People turning up in odd places in the middle of the night, that kind of thing."

"Yeah, that sounds like what happened with the weird spider-guy," Mingmei said.

"That, but also, crowds of people going into the skate parks late at night," said Fred.  "I don't even know why we have those things.  We don't have enough skaters in this city, and they all suck."

"Hmm. Something to keep an eye on," Mingmei said.

"Something suspicious that the police have all somehow failed to investigate," said Fred.  "Well, as far as I can tell, anyway."

"I'm not really surprised, but I'm going to get to the bottom of it," Mingmei said.

"Excellent," said Fred.  "Is there anything that I can do to help?"

"I'll let you know," Mingmei said.

"Do," said Fred.  "Anything you need.  Seriously."

"Sure thing. I'll see you later," Mingmei said, teleporting out and heading home.
