Character Creation / House Rules

House Rules:
I have house rules for combat only to make sure that the games flows quicker and doesn't get bogged down in a pbp setting.  That said, there will be two different types of combat: Standard Combat and Quick Combat.

Standard Combat:
Standard Combat is roughly the same as normal 5e combat, but with a few exceptions.  There is no initiative.  Instead, all the players will go, posting in general terms what their character is doing or wants to do, and makes any associated rolls.  After all players have posted, I will make a large summary post accounting for all the results.  In that same post, the enemies will take all of their turns.  After that post, all the players can go again, in any order.  The only exception would be in an ambush, in which case the opponents will go first.

To keep things going quickly, each round will last only 24 hours.  I will be the round summary post usually between 12:00am-1:00am EST every day.  If a player can't make a post, they will be assumed to be continuing what they were previously doing or do very simple actions (fighter just attacks, wizard uses cantrip, etc.).  This should hopefully let us get battles over in just a few days

Quick Combat:
In DnD there can be a LOT of fighting.  So even with my previous house rules, the game can bog down.  However, many of those combats aren't even a challenge, but just a method to drain resources.  That's where Quick Combat comes into play.  If I declare a combat is a Quick Combat- you've already won.  You just get to tell me how.  I will set the stage, then you all get to explain how the battle was won. First roll a single, unmodified d20.  Rolled a 1?  Well, you still won but it was a bit of struggle for you personally.  Maybe you got hit by an unlucky crit, or all of your spells got resisted, and you needed to rely on the party to carry you this time.  Rolled a 20?  Well you are king of this combat, and get to tell all how you badassed your way through it.  Rolled a 10?  You handled them professionally, served your role, and suffered only basic resource loss.  After everyone posts, I will give another cleanup / accounting post to make sure everyone knows where they are at in terms of HP, Spell Slots, and other resource expenditure.

If this game continues onwards, eventually I will be incorporating certain rules from Strongholds & Followers.  They will be added on here.
