Dan took Umuru out to something that resembled a restaurant of some kind; it appeared to be fairly busy, and Dan was grinning proudly as a waitress lead them to a table.

"So here we are," he said.  "Genuine American food!  Ask me anything you like about any of this stuff."

"What is good?" Umuru asked. "I have never had it."

"Well, the fish is always good around here," said Dan.  "It's nice and fresh!  And then batter-fried."

Umuru nodded.

"I shall try that then. What sorts of things happen on dates here?"

"Oh, well, we talk, get to know each other," said Dan.  "...cuddle, kiss, that kind of thing."

"Ah. This comes after the food, correct? That sounds like it would be difficult to do while eating," Umuru said.

"Well, yeah," said Dan.  "That's right.  We eat first."

Umuru watched Dan when the food arrived so she could follow proper eating etiquette.

Dan demonstrated.  It didn't look too complicated, except for the part about moving silverware between your hands at different points in the meal.

"So, what did you want to know about America?" he asked.

"Is that what this planet is called? I thought it was Earth," Umuru said. "But I would like to learn about American culture."

"Earth is the planet," Dan clarified.  "This country is the United States of America.  We have a whole bunch of different countries here."

"It doesn't have a unified government? That's surprising," Umuru said. "This food is good."

"Yeah, it's tasty!" said Dan.  "Like you... I mean, uh..."

Dan appeared to be trying to shift in his position to get a look down the front of her dress while she ate.

"Um, Dan? There appears to be something in the sky," Umuru said.

"Hm?" said Dan.  He wasn't paying any attention to what she said at all, instead concentrating entirely on her chest.

The light, however, was getting rather large-- or else closing fast!

"Excuse me for a moment," Umuru said as she ran out of the diner and flew up to get a look at the light and keep it from crashing into the diner.

Luckily, that clearly wasn't going to be a risk, because the light changed course-- to come straight at her!  Also, there was a winged figure inside the light.

"I'm going to have to ask you to stop," Umuru said.

And she stopped!

The figure in the light appeared to be a young woman-- a teenager?  Perhaps.  She was fairly short, and slender, with four feathered wings, and a pair of large rings of fire that contained countless eyes enclosing her, slowly rotating.  She had long hair in French braids and big, open, honest light-blue eyes.

"Greetings!" she said.  "I am the angel Pahaliah!  Um, normally, I tell people not to be afraid-- that's kind of the standard greeting-- but maybe you should be kind of a little frightened.  You're the demon Umuru, right?"

"I am, yes," Umuru said. "Am I confused. What is an angel?"

"Oh, that's right," said Pahaliah.  "You've been missing for a long time, and probably didn't hear about it.  To counteract the threat of the demons, we angels were created to stop you, capture you, or, if necessary, destroy you.

"...I'm a very young angel," she admitted, "and you're my very first demon target!  Would you mind surrendering so that I can capture or, if necessary, destroy you?  It would really make a lot of this easier on me."

"I don't understand, Surely my acts of space piracy have passed the statute of limitations?" Umuru asked.

"I'm not so sure about that," said Pahaliah.  "But anyway, you're a demon, and I'm supposed to bring you in before you cause any more trouble.  All right?"

"I am sorry, I won't be leaving," Umuru said.

"Oh," said Pahaliah, sounding disappointed.  "Um, so I still have to capture you, or, if necessary, destroy you.  All right?"

The rings of fire started rotating faster.

"You will not be able to do that," Umuru said, holding out a hand and collecting energy before it.

The angel pointed, and the rings of flame launched themselves at Umuru!

If an 18 hits, that's Damage 8.

The ring smashed into Umuru, who barely got out of the way, the flames singing her arm and shoulder.

Umuru blasted back, but only at half power. She wanted to see if the angel could take it.

She was fast, but not fast enough.  The attack didn't hurt her at all, though.

"Are you sure you don't want to surrender?" she asked, but the flaming rings were coming in for another pass.

"I will not lay down and die!" Umuru said. "I am going to continue living."

"Well, I mean--" Pahaliah started, but the rings of fire were closing in on Umu, reducing her chances to reply.

Again, the fire wheels burnt her,

"Enough of this," Umuru said, as she brought her arms together, focusing her energy into one large beam that she fired at the angel.

(OOC: All-Out Power Attack - Umuru rolled 18 using 1d20+6. If that hits, it's 15 Damage.)

"YIKES!" said Paha, dodging out of the way of the beam.

"That was SO MUCH stronger!" she said.  "I wasn't sure if you were a threat before, but clearly you are!"

The burning rings closed in again....

"Why are you doing this? I've never killed anyone, I don't want to kill anyone!" she shouted as she fired the massive blast again.

The bolt smacked hard into Pahaliah, sending her flying.

"I don't make the rules!" she called.  She was hurt, it was clear-- but not too hurt to send the Rings of Fire back for another attack.

A 10 surely misses.

Umuru turned around to look where the shot was headed.

Umuru flew down quickly and threw herself in front of the wheel.

Sounds like a Toughness save to me!

Umuru screamed as the wheel crashed into her.

Shutdown was imminent!  Umu's systems couldn't take more of this!

...The angel wasn't attacking now.  No more burning rings were coming in her direction.

"I-I won't give up," Umuru said, straining herself to keep flying.

"Um," said Paha.  "You, um, jumped in the way of the blast.  That doesn't make any sense.  Why did you do that?"

"No one dies, won't let anyone die," Umuru said.

"Um, but," said Paha, "that's not a very demon-y thing to do.  And what if you get killed doing that?  That's still someone dying, isn't it?"

"I am defective," Umuru said. "My life is worth less."

"But... then why didn't you surrender?" Paha asked.

"I still would prefer not to die. I thought I could fight you without putting anyone else in danger," Umuru. "I still do not wish to surrender, as I have a date..."

"A date!?" said Paha, blushing.  "Are... are they cute?"

"I believe so," Umuru said. "These feelings are new to me."

"Oh!" said Paha.  "So what--"

"Heeeeyyyyyy..." said Dan.  "So.  Cute Angel Babe.  What brings you here?"  He'd apparently stepped out of the diner to see what was going on.

Umuru turned around to look at Dan.

Dan was there, grinning at both of them, without much of a clue.  Paha, in turn, was blushing.

"It is still our date, Dan," Umuru said.

"What?  Oh, sure, right, yes, sorry," babbled Dan.  Now he was looking back at Umuru, and all the places that her dress was failing.  And there was a very important bit sliding off of her...

"What happens now?" Umuru asked Pahaliah as she tried to pull the dress back into some kind of shape, it was clearly important to be covered in public here.

Pahaliah was still blushing and clearly confused.

"...I'm not really sure?" she said.  "Some of my primary directives are in conflict now, and I don't think that a violent solution will resolve it."

"I will be staying on this planet, but I will be continuing my date now," Umuru said as she floated down to Dan. "What shall we do now? Is this the cuddling and kissing time?"

"Uh, sure!" said Dan.  "Absolutely!  We should go somewhere more private for it, though."

"Where would a good place be?" Umuru asked.

Dan thought hastily.

"...movie theater?" he said.  "It's kind of traditional."

"I believe I will need new clothing to be seen in public," Umuru said. "Perhaps your house would be better, I wouldn't need to change and I will need some instruction."

He was, of course, forgetting his sister entirely.

"I will get us there, please tell me where it is," Umuru said, picking up Dan in a bridal fashion and flying off.
