Dan took Umuru out to something that resembled a restaurant of some kind; it appeared to be fairly busy, and Dan was grinning proudly as a waitress lead them to a table.

"So here we are," he said.  "Genuine American food!  Ask me anything you like about any of this stuff."

"What is good?" Umuru asked. "I have never had it."

"Well, the fish is always good around here," said Dan.  "It's nice and fresh!  And then batter-fried."

Umuru nodded.

"I shall try that then. What sorts of things happen on dates here?"

"Oh, well, we talk, get to know each other," said Dan.  "...cuddle, kiss, that kind of thing."

"Ah. This comes after the food, correct? That sounds like it would be difficult to do while eating," Umuru said.

"Well, yeah," said Dan.  "That's right.  We eat first."

Umuru watched Dan when the food arrived so she could follow proper eating etiquette.

Dan demonstrated.  It didn't look too complicated, except for the part about moving silverware between your hands at different points in the meal.

"So, what did you want to know about America?" he asked.

"Is that what this planet is called? I thought it was Earth," Umuru said. "But I would like to learn about American culture."

"Earth is the planet," Dan clarified.  "This country is the United States of America.  We have a whole bunch of different countries here."

"It doesn't have a unified government? That's surprising," Umuru said. "This food is good."

"Yeah, it's tasty!" said Dan.  "Like you... I mean, uh..."

Dan appeared to be trying to shift in his position to get a look down the front of her dress while she ate.

"Um, Dan? There appears to be something in the sky," Umuru said.

"Hm?" said Dan.  He wasn't paying any attention to what she said at all, instead concentrating entirely on her chest.

The light, however, was getting rather large-- or else closing fast!

"Excuse me for a moment," Umuru said as she ran out of the diner and flew up to get a look at the light and keep it from crashing into the diner.
