RTJ Guidelines (Start Here!)

Read Me First!

Prior to submitting an RTJ please familiarize yourself with the following.

1: Ensure you have read and are on board with the Game Premise found in the Game Information section.  If you have questions about the premise those should be addressed early on.

2: Be reasonably familiar with the setting material regarding Drinax and the Trojan Reach that has been developed.  We are endeavoring to create and depict a worthwhile Sandbox as your GM Team.  An integral part of your job as a player is getting familiar and engaging with that setting.

3: Be advised that we as a team have intrinsically a more Sandbox as opposed to Narrative approach to RPGs.  This means we will be striving to present realistic and interesting options and verisimilitude to players but not to direct narrative arcs in the manner which many people are currently accustomed.  This requires a good deal more proactivity and self direction on the part of players as a play style.

4: We as a team believe strongly in the collaborative nature of roleplaying.  Players are encouraged to participate in world-building along any line that interests them.  Significant contributions to the setting, or otherwise significant materials incorporated into the shared space of the game will be rewarded.

5: This game is, in addition to the usual space opera themes of Traveller, aimed at traditional cyberpunk themes many of which are dark, gritty, and unforgiving in nature.  If you are new to cyberpunk as a genre then this is something you should familiarize yourself with and be ready to bring to the fore in play.  If you have concerns about finding any material involved with such themes objectionable or offensive we should discuss that early and you should consider whether this game is a good fit for you.

RTJ Guidelines (Start Here!)

RTJ Questions

We're asking for a lot, we know, but we believe strongly that RPGs are truly at their best when the game is a collaborative effort, and with that in mind, our RTJ process is meant to weight things towards screening for writing, storytelling, general depth of roleplaying, and group compatibility.  So please use this opportunity both to help us world build and to showcase the kinds of stories you like to tell, to play in, and see happening in Traveller.

You are encouraged to take your time, bring your best ideas and writing to the fore, and provide more fleshed out / developed concepts as answers to each question.  These (and not any potential character build) will be the primary basis upon which your application will be judged as a potential Group Member.

None of these questions is aimed at getting a mechanical build regarding anything.  We are far more interested in seeing what kind of ideas and story/writing ability you have, and thus how well you will fit into a strong group for the game to come.

Thank you for being interested in our game and for playing Traveller, one of our favorite games.

1: Describe your level of experience with Traveller as a game system and what you like about it.  Why are you interested in Traveller as a game and setting?

1: What kind of stories are you most interested in playing in?

3: What is your general Traveller concept, and why does it interest you?  Do you have any alternatives you might be interested in playing if the first one doesn't work?

4: What's a plot hook (or two or three!) involving the setting of Noricum and the fallen Sindalian Empire that you'd like to see come into play?

5: How about for the Group?

6: How about for your Traveller?

7: What's something interesting about the Group?  And yes, you have free reign here to just make something up.  Help us flesh it out a bit and give it character!

8: Provide an example of an interesting and fleshed out Ally, Contact, Patron or other meaningful/useful NPC (or two or three!).

9: Describe what a "good" Traveller is in your opinion.

10: Are there any house rules that you've seen in other Traveller games that you would like us to consider?
