The gods have left. There are no real priests. As such there are many tricksters and charlatans who pretend to have true faith.

TOMHAMMER MAGIC

Channeling

Channeling is essentially either verbalizing a spell or making strange hand gestures or praying and making religious hand gestures and is therefore detectable by those who know what Channeling is - those with Magic, Priests, those with Magical knowledge.

Spell Duration


Arcane Spells - All spells in the game which last only 1 minute or 6 rds now last 1 minute per Magic.


Magical Healing




New/Modified Magic and Divine Skills and Talents

Arcane Parry - Allows the user to parry aside a magic missile completely. Even if the spell has multiple strikes like Fireball or Shadow Knives. The Talent allows the user to parry aside all of the effects of a single Magic Missile attack in a round. But effects must be directed at them or the character must be directly between the caster of the Magic Missile spell and the target. It is a free action. The nature of an area effect spell means it is not a magic missile spell. The Arcane Parry and Divine equivalents are only useful against magic missiles.




Magic Sense


The use of Magic Sense is not detectable because it is a passive action of switching the characters attention to essentially the Winds of Magic. However, while using Magic Sense all physical actions such as combat are conducted at a penalty (-20%) because of the characters split attention. Essentially, normal vision is the ability to see the living world and in most cases differentiate between the living and the inanimate. Using Magic Sense allows a character to see where Magic exists which is normally invisible to the regular eye. Magic is alien to the living world and those training to look for it can see it more easily when they look specifically for it.

Excepting the use of Dark Faith, prayers are invisible to Magic Sense unless they have a physically visible effect, because their source is not magical in nature. The powers of faith operate in perfect harmony with the universe. Dark Faith is a corruption of this power and therefore visible as such. Only Chaos Priests have access to Dark Faith.


Detection of Magic Lores

According to the Tome of Salvation on pg 215 anyone with a Lore Talent can detect any other Lore Talent or any other magical skill with the use of the Magical Sense skill. I am changing this rule - The mere possession of Lore Talents or other Magical Skills cannot be detected by characters Magical Sense.

Athyric Attunement and Faith Based Powers



Dark Magic and Dark Faith

Those with Aetheyric Attunement automatically detect Dark Magic when used in your presence, 20 feet (40 feet with Magic Sense)

Passive Magic Sense detects Dark Magic also when in its presence, 20 feet (40 feet with Athyric Attunement)

Active Magic Sense detects Dark Magic used within line-of-sight.

If Chaos Priests use Dark Faith (works as Dark Magic) it is detectable with Aytheric Attunement and Magic Sense.

Passive Magic Sense detects Dark Magic also when in its presence, 20 feet. Active Magic Sense detects Dark Magic used within line-of-sight. If Chaos Priests use Dark Faith (works as Dark Magic) it is detectable with Aytheric Attunement and Magic Sense.

The Winds of Magic


Ingredients and Offerings

If a Priest or any spell caster has both hands full with other objects they cannot also (Ready Item Action) ready ingredients or offerings without losing the benefit of that hand for the entire round. This applies in particular to free parries from off-hand weapons and shields. You cannot get a free parry and also use that hand for a ready action for a prayer offering or a spell ingredient. It is possible to Free Action drop an object and then use that hand to Ready Action something.
