Setting and Chargen info

Setting and Setup:

In the deep parts of the wastes is an isolated, defended enclave of free people. West of the Fortress Ruins of Glanora of the Sands, past the Shifting and Dancing Oasis and the Imperceptible Bluffs of the Winged Mutant People, Areasi (Rhymes with ah RAH see) is home to people willing to work together to survive.

The most sacred point is deep in the ruins and labyrinths of the ancient complex they call home. The many machines that keep the settlement habitable rely on a relic from the founding of the community. Legend says that when Yumm-Ba The Starbarian brought his amazing Starmetal Sword to clear the ruins, it glowed and hummed as it approached the Throne of Stars on the deepest level. Once the Mrr'ssss'n The Lizard King was slain, he found himself compelled to insert the blade into a perfectly shaped slot behind the throne.

When he did so, the complex came to life.

But now, the Twelve Majestic Wizards of the Dream Lands have infiltrated Areasi and taken the Starmetal Sword. Without it, the clean water, colder air, and plentiful food will cease slowly over the coming months, until the desert sands take back what the ancients carved out of them.

It's up to our heroes to find them Wizards, Retrieve the sword, and save the town!

This game uses the Barbarians of the Ruined Earth RPG by Mike Evans, available at Drive-Thru RPG.

We are using the Black Hack Chargen variant, and Luck Dice, but changing them to a Roll Under like the rest of the system (1-3 is good, 4-6 is not).

We are using Destiny Points.

This is a 1980s fantasy adventure cartoon, like Thundarr the Barbarian, Pirates of Darkwater, Tundercats, and other similar with a foundational flavour of Mad Max and Fallout. Please remember the genre while playing.

There will be an introduction, then the game will progress by episodes. There is a loose campaign arc, but the players otherwise control the action and narrative in most cases.

Aresi uses white ceramic coins, since you are in the region controlled by Technodabbler The Artificial. Barter and a fluctuating exchange rate for other coins are also in play.

You may play members of the original tribe of Lizard Beastmen, the Dhr'zz.

There are additional classes and resources at the creator's site. I also have a variant custom class that is a slightly reskinned and modified Dubstep Wizard (I am an online DJ and hate Dubstep, Trance, Ambient, and EDM with a passion, but will certainly allow it in play) based on being a more eclectic, classic type of DJ available.
