Episode 1: Black Rock Burn

Emmeline takes a swig from her own waterskin before settling down under the outcrop. She watches the small robotic bear with amusement. The rhythmic drumming in the distance reminds her of an ancient ritual festival she participated in years ago, and helps her to relax enough that she can turn off her own music for a while. She turns to Arska and surveys her, before speaking up.

"I have rations, hun," she says, "but if you were to catch something fresh, I wouldn't say no." She then turns her attention to the bear...or more to the point the fact that she's lost track of him.

"Anyone else got eyes on Buddy Bear? Those vultures would easily pick him up...not to mention the other beasts around here."

Re: Episode 1: Black Rock Burn

Mad Maggs:
She points towards a rocky outcrop that looks to offer some protection from prying eyes and wasteland creatures. "Camp?" she asks, her voice barely more than a rasping whisper.

Needless to say, the desert heat ment little to the cold blooded Scale. Of course, the hunt was always on the Vek's mind. He did know his human companions did risk much in such environments.

When Maggs pointed to the outcropping, he nodded. "I shall check weather or not its safe." He chrip-hissed. He proceeded to follow Maggs to the campsite to find some shade for the humans.

Re: Episode 1: Black Rock Burn

Arska nods happily to the other woman and smells the air.

"Yes, nothing like a good hunt to end the day well. Are you a huntress of your tribe too, boom-witch? Maybe you can help,"
she offered. It was only polite, although Arska had no idea how Emmeline might. She just hope she didn't scare off the game with some loud music.

With a smooth motion, Arska wields her spear, makes sure she has arrows in the quiver and starts looking for something huntable.

"I can hunt as well if needed." Rhy Gor adds, but I can also set up camp if you prefer, I'm used to the nomadic life, and can get us a shelter, albeit a small one made shortly.

Rhy Gor looks around for materials suitable for a quick lean too or covering while watching carefully for prey.

[OOC] I spoke to Maharet, she is a bit swamped in RL, so for a bit she is being drawn in the background doing wizard stuff.

Episode 1: Black Rock Burn

It appears to the hunters that everything that would not be a dangerous battle to hunt avoids the ancient route our heroes travel.

Decent shelter is similarly of questionable utility. In particular, a large open cave portends the possibility of whatever lies within being a problem should it emerge.

The scouters do not travel for long. Several minutes around the outcroppings they find:

Maggs motions to the others behind her to hold up, then draws her crossbow and cautiously scouts forward...her sun-bleached, dun-coloured clothing helping her blend into the surroundings as she slowly approaches the building, searching for any signs of life...or any nasty surprises.

[OOC Maggs will use her Agile and Sneaky Bastard abilities if needs be to Move Silently, Hide and Hear Noises as she very cautiously checks out the area]

Success: 07:27, Today: Mad Maggs rolled 11 using 2d20, keeping the lowest dice only with rolls of 11,13.  Scouting.

Rhy Gor stays ready to back up Mad Maggs but doesn't move closer so Maggs remains safely unseen as possible. He has his bow in hand just in case.

Episode 1: Black Rock Burn

Arska considered the options, then shrugged and followed the others towards the road-hut. It looked easier to explore, and if there was no hunting to be done, then it also made no sense to disturb whatever dwelled in the cave, just for the sake of an unnecessary battle. She was always happy to fight, naturally, but they had a mission, and she had to protect the fluffy one and the others.

But mostly she was intrigued by the road-hut; caves she had seen plenty, but old buildings she found mysterious and fascinating.

Arska stood a few paces behind, near Rhy Gor, letting Mad Maggs do her thing.

"Smell something, beast-man?"

She smilled, patting the shaft of her spear.

"Maybe it will be a fun night after all, eh?"

In reply to Mad Maggs (msg # 12):

Scale kept Maggs in sight, but from a distance to not ruin her stealth and scouting. Mostly he was waiting for her to give the signal to move in. Of course, if they all had radios that would be more helpful...but when he left his people they where not keen on sharing anything with him. Certainly nothing useful like that.

"Whatever we find in there, I hope it's edible," Arska said lustily. She leant the spear on a boulder and took her bow, nocking an obsidian-pointed arrow. "Rhy, Scale, just say the word and we move in. Has someone seen the fluffy one?"

In reply to Arska (msg # 17):

Scale had wanted to take the bear-bot apart and find out how it works, but he really doubted the others would accept that idea. He planned to keep its main processor separate of course so it would not shut down, but he doubted that would be accepted. "I will be at the ready to go in once Mags gives the signal. Or you start shooting." He replied.

Episode 1: Black Rock Burn

Emmeline followed the rest of the group into the hut, hoping that there would be something edible inside as well, as she had not eaten since leaving town. She turned to Arska.

"You asked before if I'm a hunter for my tribe as well. I can hunt, certainly. Although, some of my techniques might seem unusual to a more traditional hunter such as yourself," she smiled before carrying on "For example, some of the music I carry has some interesting effects on whatever I'm trying to take down. But when it comes to it, I have a dagger and a laser pistol should they be needed. Maybe I can show you sometime?"

The place seems deserted, despite the power being on. Not unusual when many roofing materials before the cataclysm were power generating tiles that harvested solar, wind, and kinetic energy.

There have been people, or something at least, here... The machines run, the food is stocked, and the prices are reflected in tokens with slots to insert them.

[OOC]Rhy Gor and Scale, roll a D20 for me please.

"Fluffy one!" Arska hisses, waving to the animatronic teddy bear while trying to be as quiet as possible. "You're going to get hurt! Stay there, we'll come catch you."

She looks to the Vek and the Beastman impatiently, arrow half-nocked, ready to move in onto the building and fight whatever lurks inside, if anything, or settled for the night, if not.

Buddy Bear casually waddles into the gas station and gives one last look toward the horizon.

He checks the door for a locking knob and, if found, throws it. Then he looks around the shelves nearest the door to identify any other possible exits-- or entrances.
