Master Magus Souldas

The wise man, Magus Souldas taught classes to his students in his home, a comfortable lighthouse on the coast of southern Calkey. The lighthouse is a comfortable safe space, especially for Master Souldas’s students. Master Souldas prefers to teach sitting in a circle with all of his students. He nibbles on the end of his pipe while he thinks, the pipe-smoke is dry and warm. His students receive beds from their teacher, and their education and board is paid for by little more than household chores and picking up supplies from Carrow, the nearest town, slightly inland from the rocky bluffs on which the lighthouse is situated. The pillows are hand-stitched, the blankets frequently patched but still soft.

Master Souldas often brings in oddities to discuss which his students. Odd bits of this or that, relics of some kind, a bowl of such and such dynasty, or rune of a long lost tradition. Magnus Souldas’s most esoteric inquiries are sacerdotal in nature, which can be elusive to his newer students, but over time the observations and lessons build to a new perspective.

By one fashion or another you have come to learn from Master Magnus Souldas For some his lighthouse is a refuge on it's own, and for others it is a place of intense study, and for still others it is a respite from the world at large - and it is nice to focus on something small for a change.

As the summer wears on, the other students one by one take their leave, until only you remain.

Lesson continue in a casual conversational way, they become occasionally intermittent. Until one day his remaining student turns up for their lesson and the Master is nowhere to be found. Instead all they find is a letter.
