The House

Sarelor assists with the raiding of the pantry, and while at it he looks to see if there is some way to fire the oven. They may have need of an open flame before they get through this.

The House

Each fireplace has a set accompanying tools, and the pokers look as if they could be used as a light-work crowbar, or perhaps a sickle-like weapon.

Sarelor is able to locate the tinderbox used to light the oven.

OOC: Smart, Sarelor...I wouldn't have thought of that.

The House

Morek didn't bother with the food, "The floor could be thick enough to block my spell, and the home itself certainly tall enough to out of my range, but so far I've sensed no supernatural evil anywhere around us." Instead he wandered back out to the central area near the stairs. He stopped at the base of the stairs, giving his magic a moment to sense upward, then went to have a look in the small room they'd skipped. He wouldn't venture too far off alone in this situation, but there were more important things than food at the moment. (the little 5x5 closet-looking room)

Morek opens what seems to be a cloakroom with several black cloaks hanging from hooks on the walls. A top hat sits on a high shelf.

"The hoods have a bag-like shape that will make for an easier sack than sewing one completely from scratch. The cloaks can be cut into strips as needed for tying off wounds, making a sling, or just to tie things together. It may be the closest thing to rope we find in here that is already designed to easily be carried without requiring use of your arms."

The House

With food in your stomachs, you carry on through the house.

This oak-paneled room looks like a hunter’s den.  Mounted above the fireplace is a stag’s head, and positioned around the outskirts of the room are three stuffed wolves.

Two padded chairs draped in animal furs face the hearth, with an oak table between them supporting a cask of wine, two carved wooden goblets, a pipe rack, and a candelabrum.  A chandelier hangs above a cloth-covered table surrounded by four chairs.

Two cabinets stand against the walls. The east cabinet sports a heavy lock.

If there are candles in the candelabra, Digger will grab them, "We may need light in  the basement. Sarelor, did you keep that tinderbox?" Regardless of the answer, he'll check the pipe rack's vicinity for another.

Using the tableware he previously picked up, Sarelor attempts to open the lock.

The north cabinet is unlocked and holds a small box containing a deck of playing cards and an assortment of wine glasses.

OOC: Sarelor, roll a Dex check with disadvantage.  Nevermind, I see it in the roller.  You're not able to pick the lock, but you do suspect it could be snapped or pried off.

Sarelor nods to Kyra, "yes, that's why I tried to open this lock."
He motions towards Digger, "do you think you can pry this lock open?"
Then he walks over to the locked chest, and tries his luck with the butter knife on that lock.

Digger sticks the end of his poker into the lock's loop and leans on it.

OOC: I Think that's a Strength roll, with a crowbar giving Advantage.

20:22, Today: Digger rolled 21 using 2d20+2, dropping the lowest dice only.  Str w/crowbar vs lock.

Digger uses the fire poker with the best leverage he can muster and is able to snap the lock off of the cabinet!

Inside, you find the tools most likely used to slay the wolves positioned around the room.  It contains a heavy crossbow, a light crossbow, a hand crossbow, and 20 bolts for each weapon.

Kyra smiled at the bounty within the locked cabinet. She looked at everyone. “I am able to summon magic, but if no one claims it, I have used the light crossbow. The heavy one almost took my arm off, and that small one I have never seen. If you three could use them then my magic will be enough.”

I've only got a +1 Dex, so I can use it but not to great effect
