A thread for discussing and planning the current game. Game ideas, characters etc.

Given the modules involved tend to be fairly short and the very simple rules should, hopefully, keep things flowing it may be that we get through one game and start another which can then also be planned out here.

For the first game I'm thinking of running a slightly amended version of 'Forget Me Not' a dark and devious module for modern day CoC which I think has just the right tone for Cthulhu Dark. I'm not overly bothered if anyone is familiar with it (though that would ruin the spectacular twist for you!) given the nature of the game.

As mentioned the module is set in the modern day. It is somewhat unusual in that the characters start with near total amnesia and finding out about yourselves is part of the mystery. That doesn't limit character creation as much as you might think as it's only really the occupation which is a mystery to begin with - obviously name, appearance, personality etc. is still entirely down to you.

Instead of an 'Occupation Die' (because you might not find out the character's occupations for a while) I was thinking of having a 'Hobby Die' and each character can have a hobby/pastime which, if relevant, you can roll a bonus dice for. We'll just say the knowledge is sitting in the character's subconscious just waiting to come to the fore when needed.

How does that sound? I appreciate that kind of a set up may not be to everyone's tastes so, if not, we can look at something different.

I should probably confirm that the characters aren't pre-gens (only their line of work is key to the plot) so everything else from gender, appearance, personality etc. is entirely up to you to decide.

As for me, this set up is fine. I didn't define his job, only a hobby. Never played an amnesiac character, it already sounds exciting to discover 'my' identity.
