Your attempt to join the Cardinal's Guard is successful! You may purchase a commission if you like. Subaltern costs 130 livre, Captain costs 140 livre, and Major costs 160 livre. The regimental registrar furthermore offers to commission you on the sly as a Lieutenant-Colonel (normal cost of 180 livre but not usually allowed) for a small inducement of 70 livre (for a total cost of 250 livre).
