Re: OOC: Curious Beginnings
First concussion was hitting a deer on the interstate, July 2013. I did not understand what a concussion really was or how to take care of it at the time. I was still single, and living alone; ended up dragging out months and months in post-concussion syndrome.
Finally got better, but never really was quite the same. Def shaved like 15 points off the old IQ. It was noticeable.
Couple days before thanksgiving, cracked my head open (and almost certainly fractured my skull...I did not go to hospital because I feared covid more than toughing out a head wound).
A week or two later I hit my head in the dark at night, barely bumping a wall. That was x10 worse than the initial major head injury, in terms of my concussion symptoms, despite not even showing a mark physically.
Again got post concussion syndrome.
This time I barely bumped my head against a rafter while standing up from a picnic table at a pavilion in the park. Stupid engineer put thick cross braces above the picnic benches at some weird angle. I never saw them because of my baseball cap bill blocking it. Immediately knew I was f'ed. But it was a minor blow/symptoms this last time around; mostly, I think I know how to take care of myself better.
Unfortunately, had to learn the hard way.
