've read this on the Traveller Facebook

Today I found myself driving behind a car with a license plate that started with the letters "ZHO" and I thought "they're not even trying to hide it anymore."
Then I realized that the driver in front of me either probably wouldn't get it ... or *already knew what I was thinking*.

If you want to also participate in another Traveller game...

link to another game is recruiting 3 players to take over orphaned characters :)
The GM already killed a PC and some others are on a powerless shuttle spiraling into the atmosphere of a gas giant! ;)

orphanage : link to a message in another game

Should we use the past or the present tense ?

Anzha Lyu:
"Not my forte, but I will see what I can do," Anzha replied.  Getting the proper office and location where the 'laying of groundwork' was needed she headed over there to see if they were reasonable.  She didn't think so, but it was worth hoping.

Oh no... until Jan 9th, Anzha was using the present, and from Jan 25th, she's using the past tense. What do you have against this poor GM, Anzha? ;)
Frequent posters: , - even if it's logical that you use the past for past actions -, would you please vote on what you're most comfortable with? :)
(choices : past /present /don't care
Anzha
Daphne : past
Danila : past
Deena : past
Nicodemus : past
Sven : present

For Sven, present tense. For what others do, don't care.

For Deena (and her player), most comfortable with Past Tense.

I don't care about what I read, but I prefer the constraint of past tense when writing.
.... no, that doesn't mean I do a good job of following instructions.

So that's 4 past tense preferences out of 7 players... Even though I'd like to know Anzha and Yuri's votes, the "past tense" option has the majority, so I entice everybody to use it, preferably. :)

Thanks for having posted In Character and kept the ball rolling, and the threads animated ! :) Last week-end I felt like a zombie, could only doze, watch videos, and couldn't bring myself to write elaborate posts... such a shame. I promise you some posts, at least at the Imperium Consulate.

Next Week-end, I'll go to a 3-day convention, so don't expect much.

Anzha Lyu:
I hadn't noticed the different tenses in other peoples' writing.  I settled onto present tense in this game because generally I slide towards past tense when describing something that has no dependent actions and present when it does and for consistency I decided on present.

well, I did post back here my preferences.  I can go with past tense.  Both feel awkward at times.

Got that right. When something just not seem to want to wrap the way it is 'supposed' to go.

Let's see... "not a necromancer!" ... no, it smacks of genre-crossing.
"not a perthasian snoornoot!" ... no, too obscure. Not even Bannacor would get that one.
"not a professional eulogist!"... possible foreshadowing? Let's not give anyone ideas.

Yes, it's QUITE a challenge. But I shall rise to the occasion even if he is a doctor and not an aeronaut (hot air balloonist).

Say something to those who are leaving :)

I know I shouldn't sulk, given that sometimes I have left 3 weeks pass before posting, but :

Ppresents in the room while the captain announces that Bannacor, Oscar, Khor'run and himself are leaving the ship :
Anzha, back from her errand and meeting (again) strange people at the airport
Beto (GM PC)
Daphne
Jared (whose player last connected Tuesday, but hasn't posted since November :( )
Nicodemus,
Sven - who I expect to boast that he has guessed to which planet the Consul wants to go to ;)
(Yuri - whose player left)

So forget the soap opera part, but please have one of your characters say something :)

I had not realized Sven would be attending. Last info I have, he is not really crew yet. I expected him to be on the way to deliver the samples to the lab as soon as he finished collecting, and Anzha let him know things were ready there. Accompanied by someone on the crew to represent ship's interests, the way some of the posts have gone.

Though that does explain why I got no response asking about Khor'run or Yuri looking over Sven's shoulder for the drones and sample collection.

I saw no followup about the conversation with TPoT, when they called asking what Sven wanted.

The Air/Raft has autopilot 1. Its computer was Aslan, but at some time someone in the crew told Anzha to also replace it. :)

@Sven; don't worry, I did not forget the conversation with TPoT. There has been conflicting schedules between the people involved. Sven has to witness it for example. :)

Slow time ahead

Let's see... I'm being sent to a new client tomorrow. The reputation of the position is "you'll run all day", and since it's a bank, there's no way I'll be able to browse rpol on the work computer during the day, and in the evening I'll just fall asleep until the next morning
(I'm not so young anymore) :'(

So don't expect me to react until Sunday 31st and April Fool's day

The week after will be similar (except I'll be on my own, so more stress and activity). Then I'll be on travelling vacations in Greece - I don't know if I'll be able to post during the vacations - probably not.
I'll come back on April 16th.
