EXPERIMENT 4: The History of a Culture, 2-players...

12:54, Today: phantom rolled 4 using 1d20-1 ((5)). - Wealth Changes
Corrected to be 5 as there is no negatives to this roll.
12:57, Today: phantom rolled 6 using 2d6+2 ((2,2)).

OK, so the Dice Roller doesn't like Cats, it just doesn't like me.

But the Mages Guild  and the beneficial crop output did not immediately result in creating wealth for the Tabaxi.  As many of their neighbors were hesitant to trade for the crops modified by magic, because they were fearful of "unnatural" effect the magic on the crops..

ROUND FOUR (part 1 of 2)

(14, 8)

"Then, a blessing-- Noric, god of the night, blessed the tabaxi-- sharpening their senses at night, and making them even more stealthy. But this blessing came with a warning-- they must find a way to stop Lykoius from causing war to break out between the tabaxi and the Canierians (if it wasn't already too late?), or it would spell doom-- the end of the tabaxi people! Even if the tabaxi somehow won such a war, even if Lykoius was defeated afterward, events would be set in motion that would still prove disasterous for the tabaxi in the long run...!"

16:58, Today: phantom rolled 14 using 1d20 ((14)). Divine Intervention
16:59, Today: phantom rolled 4 using 2d6-1 ((4,1)).

Still definitely hates me :)

But the Ciron, the god of day, came to the Tabaxi and warned them that their extinction is all but assured.  Ciron gave them a vision of the end, of the Caninerians staying over the broken bodies of their soldiers and slavery of the Tabaxi people.  This disheartened the Tabaxi.

ROUND FIVE (part 1 of 2)

(12, 6. Wow, even with the Adaptable bonus, fate seems to hate these guys.)

"The high council of the tabaxi thought that perhaps it might be best to set up a fortress to retreat to in the event that Thundera had to be evacuated, but the fortress, in the hills to the southwest, didn't even get halfway built before lightning struck the timbers and set fire to it. When a Caninerian patrol was spotted in the distance, retreat was sounded, and the project abandoned. Lykoius was blamed, and those who blamed him were probably right."

ROUND SIX (part 1 of 2)

(16, 4)

"It was a little after the renaissance of Jagged the Wise that the young tabaxi mage Vanked started getting noticed, a wunderkind of magic. He was young yet-- cocky, arrogant-- so his mistakes were as powerful as his magic... but his natural talent and skill were fantastic. Vanked would clearly someday be greater, his tutors said, than Lykoius... If he lived so long...!"

ROUND SEVEN (next post will be the final post...)

(8, 10)

"Then, Jagged the Wise held a summit with representatives of the Caninerian, Bearbule, and Snakian peoples. Each of the three (especially the Caninerians) had resentments and anger over what their land being annexed by the Tabaxi empire. But somehow, Jagged calmed their fears, made them feel that they were equal citizens, and gave each sincere promises of wealth and safety. Workers were sent to build each new steading in the terrain they liked best: the Caninerians on the sweeping plains, the Bearbules the caves in the high mountains, and the Snakians the rolling hills. Also, each were given seating on the Empire's High Council. The Empire, most agreed, was truly becoming stable internally..."

EXPERIMENT 4: The History of a Culture, 2-players...

12:05, Today: phantom rolled 14 using 1d20 ((14)). - Divine Guidance/Miracle happens
12:06, Today: phantom rolled 6 using 2d6-1 ((6,1)).

Sadly, Jagged the Wise, Emperor turned Diplomat passed away and Emperor Leonidas was granted a vision of the end of the Tabaxi Empire by followers Ciron.  To prevent the fall, Leonidas became a fanatic and worked to wipe out all followers of Ciron.  In his zeal, he murdered his own son and wife for fear that they were followers of Ciron.  This ended the direct line of the Tabaxi royal family.  The high council saw no recourse, but to betray Leonidas and murder him.  The loss of Jagged the Wise and Insanity of Leonidas, lead to the splintering of the Tabaxi Empire.  Even the great city of Thuderah fell into ruin.  Thus ended the Tabaxi's great empire.

Well I had fun with this, and I feel like we both got attached to the poor Tabaxi... but... is the ending too random?

Should the last participant just PICK a result? I mean, a random 1d20, but then not have to roll 2d6 for it? So a happy ending can be given if that's what everyone wants...?

Or...?

While the end was definitely random, it was fun.

I definitely got attached :)  and I am glad you did too.  That is mark of a good story.

I don't think picking an end is right.  Perhaps after Stage 7, the players agree if the culture died out or lived on.
