Wow, that's some roll! Even ex-convict can be convincing and charming after having a bath and getting rid of his lice!

(I'll post IC tomorrow;-) )

22:12, Today: Harkrin 'Klinka' rolled 1 using 1d100.  Gossip (fel 21+10).

Re: 2. OOC: Chat Thread!

I am quite enjoying writing Lukas.  He's not a mercenary, not an adventurer.  He can be recklessly brave / stupid when it matters but has a sense of self-preservation.

He's an accidental adventurer, completely out of his depth in the big city or with larger than life characters.  I find it quite sweet thinking of him and Fyodor going to the opera all bathed and all that.

In terms of what we do next I am not massively bothered but I am mindful we don't know if dropping the relic off starts an adventure which is city based and the impact that has if we run off in a merchant caravan or expedition to Cathay or something:)

Re: 2. OOC: Chat Thread!

I think we are a very typical Warhammer bunch of adventurers - people who had their own lives, but now have to adapt to their new position in life. I think all we need is a common goal;-) I very much liked how Otto became the driving force of our Enemy Within campaign and wonder which one of us would become one here:-)

Re: 2. OOC: Chat Thread!

I like all your characters and it's great watching them impact each other. :)

I'd agree they're a typical Warhammer bunch of oddballs, misfits and n'er do wells. I'm a little sorry we don't have an Entertainer, Initiate or Hedge Wizard - lots of opportunities for trouble... uh... fun there!

With the jobs posts some I see as possible long term background plotlines (like Otto trying to become a merchant prince or Casper's turn towards spirituality), some as red herrings and some as something in between.

I've been reluctant to give out spoilers I know but I can say 'Ashes' is predominately set in Middenheim with a few brief excursions to nearby areas (so no trips to Cathay). It probably works best with people who are relatively new to Middenheim rather than settled types.

Also it may help with the common goal thing since it is part of a campaign. :-)

Klinka appears to be a really nice guy when he's around his kind;-) I guess all you manlings make him grumpy!

I suppose I should be grateful we don't have an elf in the party... I'd hate to see how much grumpier that would make him! :-)

I think Pieter and his elven blade should count as a half-elf!

Re: 2. OOC: Chat Thread!

Just a friendly reminder Magnus could use some updating on what everyone is talking about IC since he wasn't with the party since the beginning ;)

I get it doesn't have to be immediate but it could provide more of an IC hook/motivation to stay with the party rather than want to go back to his duties at the gates.

Re: 2. OOC: Chat Thread!

Loving all the character interactions guy. :-)

So I thought I better be clearer about the adventure before going into too many spoilers. Basically 'Ashes' is a mystery adventure. As written it assumes you are sort of freelance agents who become embroiled in this mystery and are at least on the same side as the Watch.

Now there are a few different ways I can go about this from having you get official, paying jobs with the Watch to being more like civilian private detectives to it just being a scenario you guys are thrown into while trying to get on with your lives and carry out other jobs like a Hitchcock film.

Added a section on drinks to the 'Common Knowledge' thread. I figure if you are going to get drunk it is best to know on what. :-)

I might do a similar post on common foods.

For Team Non-Klinka will I move you guys on? There seems to be a consensus about checking out the Mayers.

Re: 2. OOC: Chat Thread!

How does leather armour work in 2ed? IIRC in 1ed it negates 1 point of damage only if the total damage received was below 4. But that was in the days when you rolled d6 for damage;-)

Re: 2. OOC: Chat Thread!

Leather armour negates 1 point of damage from any attack in 2nd edition so effectively with his skullcap and jack Klinka will have a Toughness Bonus of 5 on his head, body and arms and 4 on his legs. :-)

'Medium armour' the next step up is mostly chain mail and negates 2 points of damage with 'heavy armour' (mostly plate) the most protective and pricey negating 3 points of damage.

The cheapest option with all the amours is the headgear - a chainmail coif costs 20 gold crowns while a proper metal helmet costs 30 gold crowns.

Bloody hell, prices have also gone up between the editions;-)

Harkrins is happy with his shopping. With a few coins left in his pocket, he may as well try his luck at the Neumarket...

Re: 2. OOC: Chat Thread!

Heh! :-D

Actually just checking them now some prices are more expensive and some less between editions. Food is a lot more expensive in First Edition (a pint of ale cost 9d in First Edition compared with 2d in Second!) while weapons and armour tend to be a bit cheaper in First Edition.

This does mean it is harder to find a sword but much easier to get drunk!
