Aegis instinctively put the last bit of cookie in his mouth and glanced around as he took a defensive stance. Hunter's words seemed to confirm what he had felt and so he nodded in his fellow Arrow's direction.

Sparrow's response to Hunter's words is immediate. She puts her hands up, starting to grasp for power, pulling her nimbus around her like a faint, clinging cloud of shadow and perfume. It smells of lilac and lemons and pine, and hangs thick in the air around her, if you know what to look for.

“Morrigan, dear,” exclaimed Virgil, his smile somewhat fading, as he placed his black leather briefcase on the table. Her unclasped the front of it. “Have you any idea what’s going on?” He reached into the case and withdrew an ornamental designed katana that clearly should not have fit. The sheathe appears to be black and red snake skin, with a serpent devouring its own tail for the cross guard. He looked upon the blade as if he forgot where he was momentarily, enamored in its beauty before his eyes snapped back to the situation at hand.

The wind suddenly stops, leaving an eerie quiet in its wake.

Each of you finds yourself lost in emotional memory, momentarily blind to the outside world.

Each of you, please roll Composure + Resolve to return to the present mentally.

If you have any unveiling/knowing spells active please list them in your next post, you can send them as private lines if you'd like to keep your spells discreet.

Grandfather. Strawberry remembered his smell of wood and chewing tobacco. Sitting on his lap. He was talking to her and in her memory she could understand his words even though they were in the old language.

ooc: no successes rolled. Again. Pierce Deception with extra reach (seeing true) (Prime 1) active though. And Spirit mage armor, which might give me extra dice if the threat is spirit-based.

Morrigan's Sanctum

The sound of a helicopter, the smell of napalm, the taste of blood in his mouth. Sensations from a time he barely remembered flashed through his mind as something tried to encase his consciousness in an illusory cage.

But those times were long behind him, and the illusion was ripped apart with a exertion of will before it could take root. Whatever was doing this would have to do a lot better than that.

performing the mudra taught to him by his order, Vagrant finished casting his protective spell. He could only cover ten people with it, and there were twelve of them in the house, so he excluded himself and Aegis. It was an Arrow's calling to take on the risks in these situations after all.

"Throwing up wards" he yelled out as an after thought, probably not smart to cast spells on stranger out of the blue when tensions were already high.

19:05, Today: Vagrant rolled 4 successes using 10d10 with the World of Darkness nWoD system with a target of 8, rerolling 10s with rolls of 7,7,7,10(+2),6,10(+8),9,4,2,3.  Resolve+Composure.

19:19, Today: Vagrant rolled 1 success using 7d10 with the World of Darkness nWoD system with a target of 8, rerolling 10s with rolls of 6,1,4,8,7,6,2.  Wards and Signs, Reaches: switch PSF to Potency, advance spell duration, advance scale, scale +1.

Effect of spell: +3 withstand for an hour/scene for everyone except Vagrant and Aegis.

Morrigan's Sanctum

Something about what's happening, and being in a strange house...

Konkretus is a kid of 15, standing stock still on top of a table, in the house of a friend who's away with his parents on vacation.  He'd thought the dog would be being boarded, or if not he'd thought it would remember him, and be cool, but there it was, pacing around the dining room, looking up at him hungrily, a growl like a hellhound grinding in its throat and actual drool hanging from toothy jaws.  He knew how to get out of this... a leap onto springy legs, bouncing him onto the couch in the living room, another bounce and back-somersault taking him through the big window, hoping the leather jacket on his back would be enough protection, then a short sprint to the butternut tree before Janus, the rottweiler that weighed more than he did, realized what was going on.  But he was frozen, running through the sequence in his mind over and over again, but aware of all the things that could go wrong, and how much it would hurt if it did.

But, wait a minute... that had already happened.  He still had the scar on his back, but it went fine...

The young mage focused again, mentally shaking off the memory, again focusing on his mage sight.  But as the scary old Arrow summoned wards, he realized something dangerous might be happening, realized he shouldn't have had his guard down here, even if it was rude to pry... and he used his will to expand his senses.

07:22, Today: Konkretus rolled 2 successes using 5d10 with the World of Darkness nWoD system with a target of 8, rerolling 10s with rolls of 9,8,3,6,7.  Composure + Resolve.

07:43, Today: Konkretus rolled 3 successes using 8d10 with the World of Darkness nWoD system with a target of 8, rerolling 10s with rolls of 4,5,3,8,8,10(+1),7,1.  Gnosis + Space + Larceny.

That smile. It was enough to disarm him each and every time. She held an allure over him stronger than any succubus he had encountered in the Nine Hells. The smell of lemon haze and the sheets of the hotel room filled the air. Wait. This moment had already passed. This wasn’t the memory to toy with.

Morrigan's Sanctum

The memory encased him once again, somehow more complete this time. He was fully back in the jungles of Vietnam this time, towards the end of the war when Uncle Sam was losing patience. His platoon had been assigned to a rearguard action, which was pretty much as shitty as it sounded. It was nostalgic in a way, there were details in this recreation that he had long forgotten. Oddly he was aware that this was a recreation, or at least not reality, perhaps because he had already shrugged off the memory once before. Which was why he knew he didn't want to spend another second in this particular memory, they hadn't been moving fast enough and things were about to go sideways in a bad way. Ignoring the sounds of bullets whizzing by and the screams of his platoon that he get his ass moving, Vagrant closed his eyes and cleared his mind as he sought a meditative calm. With an immense effort of will he once again dispelled the illusion.

20:49, Today: Vagrant rolled 6 successes using 10d10 with the World of Darkness nWoD system with a target of 8, rerolling 10s with rolls of 9,10(+3),10(+1),8,2,2,2,4,9,10(+6).  Resolve+Composure. Spent a willpower.

Morrigan's Sanctum

As Virgil strikes his doppelganger it disappears, drawn into his sword like black smoke cleared by a breeze.

Strawberry, Vagrant and Aegis are able to clear their minds and escape from the memory.

As they return to their senses they find themselves standing in front of Morrigan's sanctum's front door surrounded by some of the other mages gathered as well as Virgil with his sword drawn.

They too now stand before mirror images of themselves, Strawberry's reflection wears an impatient scowl, Vagrant's towering clone radiates poise and resolve while Aegis's copy wears an expression of doubt, its body language speaking of hesitancy.

As the three mages return to their senses, their copies reach out and embrace them, draining a single point of mana.

Strawberry's copy whispers to her, "Please don't send me back, I'm finally free."

Vagrant's copy speaks in a gravelly whisper, asking him, "Help me."

Aegis's copy quietly cries as it embraces him, "Thank you, I am free."

Of course Vagrant's first instinct with regards to the copy was to lash out. All signs pointed to this being some kind of attack, except for the words whispered by his doppelgänger.

If he was still the person he was in the memories this thing had showed him, then he probably still would have lashed out. He was not okay with people invading his personal space. On the street that kind of behavior never led to anything good and needed to be shut down right away.

But, he had also met people who acted out in ways that would seem offensive to most that were really just cries for help. Some people just lacked the ability to communicate any other way.

So, repressing his violent urges, he activated his Mage Sight aligned with his Prime arcana and focused on the copy that was embracing him, hoping to glean something from him.

13:21, Today: Vagrant rolled 2 successes using 2d10 with the World of Darkness nWoD system with a target of 8, rerolling 10s with rolls of 2,10(+8).  Revelation on copy, 4(Gnosis+Acanum)+1 mana+3 (1 willpower)-6 opacity.

He leaped, and it went perfectly, landing on the floor with legs ready to leap again, onto the couch, and the back somersault through the window, a shard of glass slicing his leather jacket in half and cutting a deep, long cut in his back.  Suffused with fear and the thrill of parkour, adrenaline pumping through his body, he ran across the yard and jumped into the tree... but something was wrong.  This had already happened.  He closed his eyes, shook his head to clear it, and when he opened it he was back on the table, the huge dog circling, waiting for him to come within reach.  No... something was in his mind.  He looked inward, using magic to unravel the emotions bound up in this moment, but he couldn't focus, he was too caught up in the fear, too confused, and the magic was not obeying him.  So, instead, he just pushed, flexed his mental muscle as hard as he could, trying to break the strange bonds that were tying it up.

10:35, Today: Konkretus rolled 5 successes using 8d10 with the World of Darkness nWoD system with a target of 8, rerolling 10s with rolls of 4,9,10(+8),2,2,7,10(+8),2.  Composure + Resolve spending 1 WP.

It was a night that she would never forget, for it was the day of her birth and as she took her first breath of air.  Her mother took her last and the new born baby could see a slight smile of joy upon her mothers face before eternal rest fell upon her.

This was a vision, it had to be for how could a baby remember such an event, the day her mother died.

Isis tried to gather her thoughts and wonder what was happening or who was trying to pry into her past.

She listened as some spoke and others were completely silent but the expression on their faces was enough to tell her that they too was suffering from such Arcana.

When others moved she didn't fully know what to do but she thought it would be best to stay close just in case things get out of control.
